  1. 你們作妻子的、要順服自己的丈夫．這樣、若有不信從道理的丈夫、他們雖然不聽道、也可以因妻子的品行被感化過來．
  2. 這正是因看見你們有貞潔的品行、和敬畏的心．
  3. 你們不要以外面的辮頭髮、戴金飾、穿美衣、為妝飾、
  4. 只要以裡面存著長久溫柔安靜的心為妝飾．這在　神面前是極寶貴的。
  5. 因為古時仰賴　神的聖潔婦人、正是以此為妝飾、順服自己的丈夫．
  1. In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,
  2. as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.
  3. Your adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses;
  4. but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
  5. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands;
 
 
  1. 就如撒拉聽從亞伯拉罕、稱他為主．你們若行善、不因恐嚇而害怕、便是撒拉的女兒了。
  2. 你們作丈夫的、也要按情理和妻子同住．〔情理原文作知識〕因他比你軟弱、〔比你軟弱原文作是軟弱的器皿〕與你一同承受生命之恩的、所以要敬重他．這樣便叫你們的禱告沒有阻礙。
  3. 總而言之、你們都要同心、彼此體恤、相愛如弟兄、存慈憐謙卑的心．
  4. 不以惡報惡、以辱罵還辱罵、倒要祝福．因你們是為此蒙召、好叫你們承受福氣。
  5. 因為經上說、『人若愛生命、願享美福、須要禁止舌頭不出惡言、嘴唇不說詭詐的話．
  1. just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.
  2. You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
  3. To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;
  4. not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.
  5. For, "THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.
 
 
  1. 也要離惡行善．尋求和睦、一心追趕。
  2. 因為主的眼看顧義人、主的耳聽他們的祈禱．惟有行惡的人、主向他們變臉。』
  3. 你們若是熱心行善、有誰害你們呢。
  4. 你們就是為義受苦、也是有福的．不要怕人的威嚇、也不要驚慌．〔的威嚇或作所怕的〕
  5. 只要心裡尊主基督為聖．有人問你們心中盼望的緣由、就要常作準備、以溫柔敬畏的心回答各人．
  1. "HE MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL AND DO GOOD; HE MUST SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT.
  2. "FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS, AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER, BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL."
  3. Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?
  4. But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED,
  5. but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
 
 
  1. 存著無虧的良心、叫你們在何事上被毀謗、就在何事上、可以叫那誣賴你們在基督裡有好品行的人、自覺羞愧。
  2. 　神的旨意若是叫你們因行善受苦、總強如因行惡受苦。
  3. 因基督也曾一次為罪受苦、〔受苦有古卷作受死〕就是義的代替不義的、為要引我們到　神面前．按著肉體說他被治死．按著靈性說他復活了。
  4. 他藉這靈、曾去傳道給那些在監獄裡的靈聽、
  5. 就是那從前在挪亞豫備方舟、　神容忍等待的時候、不信從的人．當時進入方舟、藉著水得救的不多、只有八個人．
  1. and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.
  2. For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.
  3. For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
  4. in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison,
  5. who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.
 
 
  1. 這水所表明的洗禮、現在藉著耶穌基督復活．也拯救你們．這洗禮本不在乎除掉肉體的污穢、只求在　神面前有無虧的良心。
  2. 耶穌已經進入天堂、在　神的右邊．眾天使和有權柄的、並有能力的、都服從了他。
  1. Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
  2. who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.
