John 7 [NASB:KJV]

  1. After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.
  2. Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.
  3. Therefore His brothers said to Him, "Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.
  4. "For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world."
  5. For not even His brothers were believing in Him.
  1. After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.
  2. Now the Jew's feast of tabernacles was at hand.
  3. His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
  4. For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.
  5. For neither did his brethren believe in him.

  1. So Jesus said to them, "My time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune.
  2. "The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.
  3. "Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because My time has not yet fully come."
  4. Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.
  5. But when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as if, in secret.
  1. Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
  2. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
  3. Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come.
  4. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
  5. But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

  1. So the Jews were seeking Him at the feast and were saying, "Where is He?"
  2. There was much grumbling among the crowds concerning Him; some were saying, "He is a good man"; others were saying, "No, on the contrary, He leads the people astray."
  3. Yet no one was speaking openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
  4. But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.
  5. The Jews then were astonished, saying, "How has this man become learned, having never been educated?"
  1. Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
  2. And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
  3. Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
  4. Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
  5. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

  1. So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
  2. "If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
  3. "He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
  4. "Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?"
  5. The crowd answered, "You have a demon! Who seeks to kill You?"
  1. Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
  2. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
  3. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
  4. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
  5. The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

  1. Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel.
  2. "For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
  3. "If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?
  4. "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
  5. So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, "Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill?
  1. Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
  2. Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
  3. If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
  4. Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
  5. Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

  1. "Look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they?
  2. "However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from."
  3. Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
  4. "I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me."
  5. So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
  1. But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?
  2. Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
  3. Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
  4. But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.
  5. Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

  1. But many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, "When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?"
  2. The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him.
  3. Therefore Jesus said, "For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.
  4. "You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come."
  5. The Jews then said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?
  1. And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
  2. The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
  3. Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
  4. Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
  5. Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

  1. "What is this statement that He said, 'You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come'?"
  2. Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
  3. "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'"
  4. But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
  5. Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, "This certainly is the Prophet."
  1. What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
  2. In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
  3. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
  4. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
  5. Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

  1. Others were saying, "This is the Christ." Still others were saying, "Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?
  2. "Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
  3. So a division occurred in the crowd because of Him.
  4. Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
  5. The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring Him?"
  1. Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
  2. Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
  3. So there was a division among the people because of him.
  4. And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
  5. Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

  1. The officers answered, "Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks."
  2. The Pharisees then answered them, "You have not also been led astray, have you?
  3. "No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?
  4. "But this crowd which does not know the Law is accursed."
  5. Nicodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) said to them,
  1. The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.
  2. Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?
  3. Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?
  4. But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.
  5. Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

  1. "Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?"
  2. They answered him, "You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee."
  3. [Everyone went to his home.
  1. Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?
  2. They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
  3. And every man went unto his own house.
