Galatians 5 [NASB:NIV]

  1. It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
  2. Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
  3. And I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.
  4. You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
  5. For we through the Spirit, by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.
  1. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
  2. Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.
  3. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.
  4. You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
  5. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope.

  1. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.
  2. You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?
  3. This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you.
  4. A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.
  5. I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.
  1. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
  2. You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?
  3. That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.
  4. "A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."
  5. I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion will pay the penalty, whoever he may be.

  1. But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.
  2. I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.
  3. For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
  4. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
  5. But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.
  1. Brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.
  2. As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
  3. You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.
  4. The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
  5. If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

  1. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
  2. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
  3. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.
  4. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
  5. idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
  1. So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
  2. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
  3. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
  4. The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
  5. idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions

  1. envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
  2. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
  3. gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
  4. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
  5. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
  1. and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
  2. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
  3. gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
  4. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
  5. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

  1. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
  1. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
