신명기 5:1-6:25

 모세는 십계명에 대한 회고로 두번째 설교를 시작했다. 하나님을 사랑하고 경외하는 일은 한 세대에서 그칠 일이 아니기 때문에, 모세는 자녀들에 대한 율법 교육을 강조하면서, 그들이 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 풍요로운 땅에 거할 때 더욱 하나님께 순종하는 삶을 살 것을 권면했다.
  
  십계명(5:1-5:33)    
 
  1. 모세는 온 이스라엘을 불러모으고 그들에게 일렀다. "이스라엘은 들어라. 내가 오늘 너희의 귀에 들려주는 규정과 법령들을 들어라. 이것을 익히고 성심껏 지켜라.
  2. 우리 하느님 야훼께서는 호렙에서 우리와 계약을 맺어주셨다.
  3. 야훼께서 그 계약을 우리 선조들과 맺으신 줄 아느냐? 아니다. 우리와 맺으신 것이다. 오늘 여기 살아 있는 우리 하나하나와 맺으신 것이다.
  4. 야훼께서는 그 산 위 불길 속에서 너희와 서로 얼굴을 마주보면서 말씀하셨다.
  5. 그 때 너희가 불길이 무서워 산으로 올라가지 못하였으므로 나는 야훼와 너희 사이에 서서 다음과 같은 야훼의 말씀을 너희에게 알려주어야 했다.
  1. And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
  2. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
  3. The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
  4. The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
  5. (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
  1. '너희 하느님은 나 야훼다. 바로 내가 너희를 이집트 땅 종살이하던 집에서 이끌어낸 하느님이다.
  2. 너희는 내 앞에서 감히 다른 신을 모시지 못한다.
  3. 너희는 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나 아래로 땅 위에 있는 것이나, 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 어떤 것이든지 그 모습을 본떠 새긴 우상을 모시지 못한다.
  4. 그 앞에 절하며 섬기지 못한다. 나 야훼 너희의 하느님은 질투하는 신이다. 나를 싫어하는 자에게는 아비의 죄를 그 후손 삼사 대에까지 갚는다.
  5. 그러나 나를 사랑하여 나의 명령을 지키는 사람에게는 그 후손 수천 대에 이르기까지 한결같은 사랑을 베푼다.
  1. I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
  2. Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
  3. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
  4. Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
  5. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
  1. 너희는 너희 하느님의 이름 야훼를 함부로 부르지 못한다. 야훼는 자기의 이름을 함부로 부르는 자를 죄없다고 하지 않는다.
  2. 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜라. 너희 하느님 야훼가 분부하는 대로 해야 한다.
  3. 엿새 동안 힘써 네 모든 생업에 종사하고
  4. 이렛날은 너희 하느님 야훼 앞에서 쉬어라. 그 날 너희는 어떤 생업에도 종사하지 못한다. 너희와 너희 아들딸, 남종 여종뿐 아니라 소와 나귀와 그 밖의 모든 가축과 집안에 머무는 식객이라도 일을 하지 못한다. 그래야 네 남종과 여종도 너처럼 쉴 것이 아니냐?
  5. 너희는 이집트 땅에서 종살이하던 일을 생각하여라. 너희 하느님 야훼가 억센 손으로 내리치고 팔을 뻗어 너희를 거기에서 이끌어내었다. 그러므로 너희 하느님 야훼가 안식일을 지키라고 너희에게 명령하는 것이다.
  1. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
  2. Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
  3. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
  4. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
  5. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
  1. 너희는 부모를 공경하여라. 너희 하느님 야훼의 분부다. 그래야 너희는 오래 살 것이다. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 주시는 땅에서 잘될 것이다.
  2. 살인하지 못한다.
  3. 간음하지 못한다.
  4. 도둑질하지 못한다.
  5. 이웃에게 불리한 거짓 증언을 못한다.
  1. Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  2. Thou shalt not kill.
  3. Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
  4. Neither shalt thou steal.
  5. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.
  1. 이웃의 아내를 탐내지 못한다. 이웃의 집이나 밭이나 남종이나 여종이나 소나 나귀 할 것 없이 이웃의 소유는 무엇이든지 탐내지 못한다.'
  2. 야훼께서는 이와 같은 말씀을 캄캄한 구름이 덮인 그 산 위 불길 속에서 너희 온 회중에게 큰소리로 말씀하셨다. 그리고 이 말씀을 조금도 보태지 않으시고 그대로 두 돌판에 새겨 나에게 주셨다.
  3. 산이 불타고 있는데 어둠 속에서 들리는 그 소리를 듣고 너희는 나에게 왔었다. 너희 각 지파의 어른들과 장로들이 모두 와서
  4. 말하였다. '아, 우리 하느님 야훼께서 그 크신 위엄을 우리에게 보여주셨습니다. 불길 속에서 울려 나오는 그의 목소리를 우리는 들었습니다. 이렇게 하느님의 말씀을 듣고도 사람이 살 수 있다는 것을 우리는 오늘 알았습니다.
  5. 그런데 왜 우리는 지금 죽어야 합니까? 이 무서운 불길이 우리를 막 삼키려고 합니다. 우리 하느님 야훼의 목소리를 다시 듣는 날에는 우리가 죽을 것입니다.
  1. Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.
  2. These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
  3. And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
  4. And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.
  5. Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
  1. 우리처럼 살아 계시는 하느님께서 불길 속에서 말씀하시는 소리를 듣고도 산 사람이 육체를 가진 사람 가운데 어디에 있습니까?
  2. 그러니 당신이 나가서 우리 하느님 야훼께서 하시는 모든 말씀을 들어주십시오. 그리고 우리 하느님 야훼께서 당신에게 하시는 모든 말씀을 우리에게 전해 주십시오. 우리가 듣고 그대로 하겠습니다.'
  3. 너희가 나에게 하는 이 모든 말을 야훼께서 들으시고 나에게 이르셨다. '이 백성이 너에게 하는 말을 들으니, 그 말이 다 옳다.
  4. 그들이 항상 이런 마음을 품어 나를 경외하며 나의 모든 명령을 지켜준다면 오죽이나 좋으랴! 그렇다면 그들뿐 아니라 후손들도 길이 잘될 것이다.
  5. 너는 그들에게 가서 모두들 자기 장막으로 돌아가라고 일러라.
  1. For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
  2. Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
  3. And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
  4. O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
  5. Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
  1. 그러나 너만은 여기 나와 함께 남아 있어라. 너에게 모든 계명에 딸린 규정과 법령을 일러줄 터이니 너는 그것을 그들에게 가르쳐주어라. 그들은 내가 그들에게 유산으로 주는 땅에서 그것들을 그대로 지켜야 한다.'
  2. 그러니 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼께서 내리신 분부를 모두들 성심껏 지켜야 한다. 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 치우치면 안 된다.
  3. 너희의 하느님 야훼께서 분부해 주신 길만 따라가야 한다. 그래야 너희는 행복하게 살고 잘될 것이며, 너희가 차지할 땅에서 오래 살 것이다.
  1. But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
  2. Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
  3. Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
 
  하나님을 사랑하라(6:1-6:25)    
 
  1. 이것은 너희 하느님 야훼께서 분부해 주신 계명에 딸린 규정이요 법령이다. 하느님께서는 나에게, 너희가 건너가 차지할 땅에서 이것을 지키도록 너희를 가르치라고 하셨다.
  2. 이는 너희로 하여금 너희 하느님 야훼를 경외하며 내가 오늘 지시하는 그의 규정과 계명을 지키게 하려는 것이다. 또한 너와 네 후손 대대로 평생토록 이를 지켜 오래 살게 하려는 것이다.
  3. 그러니 너 이스라엘은 들어라. 성심껏 그대로 실천하여라. 그래야 너의 선조들의 하느님 야훼께서 너희에게 약속해 주신 대로 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에서 잘되어 크게 번성하리라.
  4. 너, 이스라엘아 들어라. 우리의 하느님은 야훼시다. 야훼 한 분뿐이시다.
  5. 마음을 다 기울이고 정성을 다 바치고 힘을 다 쏟아 너의 하느님 야훼를 사랑하여라.
  1. Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
  2. That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
  3. Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
  4. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
  5. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
  1. 오늘 내가 너희에게 명령하는 이 말을 마음에 새겨라.
  2. 이것을 너희 자손들에게 거듭거듭 들려주어라. 집에서 쉴 때나 길을 갈 때나 자리에 들었을 때나 일어났을 때나 항상 말해 주어라.
  3. 네 손에 매어 표를 삼고 이마에 붙여 기호로 삼아라.
  4. 문설주와 대문에 써 붙여라.
  5. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 너희 선조 아브라함과 이사악과 야곱에게 맹세로써 너에게 주겠다고 하신 그 땅에 너희를 이끌어들이실 때가 되었다. 거기에는 너희가 세우지 않은 크고 아름다운 성읍들이 있고,
  1. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
  2. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
  3. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
  4. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
  5. And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
  1. 너희가 채우지 않은, 온갖 좋은 것으로 가득 찬 집들이 있고 너희가 파지 않은 우물이 있고 너희가 가꾸지 않은 포도원과 올리브 밭이 있다. 너희는 그것을 마음껏 먹게 되리라.
  2. 그리 되더라도 너희는 이집트 땅 종살이하던 집에서 너희를 이끌어내신 너희 하느님 야훼를 잊지 않도록 하여라.
  3. 너희 하느님 야훼를 경외하여 그를 섬기며, 맹세할 일이 있으면 그의 이름으로만 맹세하여라.
  4. 주위에 있는 백성들이 섬기는 신들 가운데서 어떤 신이든지 그 신을 따라가면 안 된다.
  5. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 화를 내시어 너희를 땅 위에서 쓸어버리실 것이다. 너희 가운데 계시는 너희 하느님 야훼는 질투하는 신이시다.
  1. And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
  2. Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
  3. Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
  4. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
  5. (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
  1. 마싸아에서처럼 너희 하느님 야훼를 시험하지 못한다.
  2. 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼의 계명을 잘 지켜야 한다. 그에게서 받은 훈령과 규정들을 따라야 한다.
  3. 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼께서 옳게 보시고 좋게 보시는 일을 해야 한다. 그래야 너희가 잘될 것이다. 야훼께서 너희 선조들에게 주겠다고 맹세하신 저 좋은 땅에 들어가서 그 땅을 차지하게 될 것이다.
  4. 그 때 야훼께서는 약속하신 대로 너희 원수들을 쫓아내 주실 것이다.
  5. 우리 하느님 야훼께 받은 이 훈령과 규정과 법령이 웬 것이냐고 훗날 너희 자손이 묻거든,
  1. Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
  2. Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
  3. And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers.
  4. To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.
  5. And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
  1. 너희는 너희 자손에게 이렇게 일러주어라. '우리는 이집트에서 파라오의 종노릇을 한 일이 있었다. 그런데 야훼께서 강한 손으로 이집트를 내려치시고 우리를 거기에서 이끌어내셨다.
  2. 야훼께서 크고 두려운 표적과 기적을 이집트에 내려 파라오와 그의 온 궁궐을 치시는 것을 우리는 이 눈으로 보았다.
  3. 이렇게 우리를 거기에서 이끌어내신 것은, 우리 선조들에게 주겠다고 맹세하신 땅에 우리를 데려다가 그 땅을 차지하게 하시려는 것이었다.
  4. 그러시고는 우리를 언제까지나 오늘처럼 이렇게 복되게 잘살도록 하시려고 야훼께서는 우리에게 우리 하느님 야훼를 경외하며 이 모든 규정들을 지키라고 분부하신 것이다.
  5. 그러므로 야훼 우리 하느님께서 분부하신 대로 그의 앞에서 이 모든 계명을 성심껏 지키는 것이 우리가 마땅히 해야 할 일이다.'
  1. Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:
  2. And the LORD shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
  3. And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.
  4. And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
  5. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
