- "내가 너희에게 이 말을 한 것은 너희의 믿음이 흔들리지 않도록 하려는 것이다.
- 사람들은 너희를 회당에서 쫓아낼 것이다. 그리고 너희를 죽이는 사람들이 그런 짓을 하고도 그것이 오히려 하느님을 섬기는 일이라고 생각할 때가 올 것이다.
- 그들은 아버지도 나도 모르기 때문에 그런 짓들을 하게 되는 것이다.
- 그러한 때가 오면 내가 한 말을 기억하라고 너희에게 이렇게 미리 말해 두는 것이다."
- 나는 지금 나를 보내신 분에게 돌아간다. 그런데도 너희는 어디로 가느냐고 묻기는커녕

- These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
- They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
- And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
- But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
- But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

- 오히려 내가 한 말 때문에 모두 슬픔에 잠겨 있다.
- 그러나 사실은 내가 떠나가는 것이 너희에게는 더 유익하다. 내가 떠나가지 않으면 그 협조자가 너희에게 오시지 않을 것이다. 그러나 내가 가면 그분을 보내겠다.
- 그분이 오시면 죄와 정의와 심판에 관한 세상의 그릇된 생각을 꾸짖어 바로잡아 주실 것이다.
- 그분은 나를 믿지 않은 것이 바로 죄라고 지적하실 것이며
- 내가 아버지께 돌아가고 너희가 나를 보지 못하게 된다는 것이 하느님의 정의를 나타내시는 것이라고 가르치실 것이고

- But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
- Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
- And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
- Of sin, because they believe not on me;
- Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

- 이 세상의 권력자가 이미 심판을 받았다는 사실로써 정말 심판을 받을 자가 누구인지를 보여주실 것이다."
- "아직도 나는 할 말이 많지만 지금은 너희가 그 말을 알아들을 수 없을 것이다.
- 그러나 진리의 성령이 오시면 너희를 이끌어 진리를 온전히 깨닫게 하여주실 것이다. 그분은 자기 생각대로 말씀하시지 않고 들은 대로 일러주실 것이며 앞으로 다가올 일들도 알려주실 것이다.
- 또 그분은 나에게서 들은 것을 너희에게 전하여 나를 영광스럽게 하실 것이다.
- 아버지께서 가지고 계신 것은 모두 다 나의 것이다. 그래서 성령께서 내게 들은 것을 너희에게 알려주시리라고 내가 말했던 것이다."

- Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
- I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
- Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
- He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
- All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

- "조금 있으면 너희는 나를 보지 못하게 될 것이다. 그러나 얼마 안 가서 나를 다시 보게 될 것이다."
- 그러자 몇몇 제자들이 "조금 있으면 나를 보지 못하게 되겠고 또 얼마 안 가서 다시 보게 되리라든지, 나는 아버지께로 간다든지 하는 말씀은 도대체 무슨 뜻일까?" 하고 수군거렸다.
- 그러면서 그들은 "'얼마 안 가서'라는 말씀이 무슨 뜻인가? 무슨 말씀인지 도무지 알 수가 없군!" 하고 말하였다.
- 예수께서는 제자들이 묻고 싶어하는 낌새를 알아채시고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "조금 있으면 너희는 나를 보지 못하게 되겠고 얼마 안 가서 다시 만나게 되리라고 한 내 말을 가지고 서로들 논의하고 있는 것이냐?
- 정말 잘 들어두어라. 너희는 울며 슬퍼하겠지만 세상은 기뻐할 것이다. 너희는 근심에 잠길지라도 그 근심은 기쁨으로 바뀔 것이다.

- A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
- Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
- They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
- Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
- Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

- 여자가 해산할 즈음에는 걱정이 태산 같다. 진통을 겪어야 할 때가 왔기 때문이다. 그러나 아이를 낳으면 사람 하나가 이 세상에 태어났다는 기쁨에 그 진통을 잊어버리게 된다.
- 이와 같이 지금은 너희도 근심에 싸여 있지만 내가 다시 너희와 만나게 될 때에는 너희의 마음은 기쁨에 넘칠 것이며 그 기쁨은 아무도 빼앗아가지 못할 것이다.
- 그 날이 오면 너희가 나에게 물을 것이 하나도 없을 것이다. 정말 잘 들어두어라. 너희가 내 이름으로 아버지께 구하는 것이면 아버지께서 무엇이든지 주실 것이다.
- 지금까지 너희는 내 이름으로 아무것도 구해 본 적이 없다. 구하여라. 받을 것이다. 너희는 기쁨에 넘칠 것이다."
- "내가 지금까지는 이 모든 것을 비유로 들려주었지만 이제 아버지에 관하여 비유를 쓰지 않고 명백히 일러줄 때가 올 것이다.

- A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
- And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
- And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
- Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
- These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

- 그 날이 오면 너희는 내 이름으로 아버지께 구할 것이다. 따라서 내가 너희를 위하여 따로 아버지께 구하지는 않겠다는 말이다.
- 너희는 이미 나를 사랑하고 또 내가 아버지께로부터 왔다는 것을 믿고 있다. 그래서 아버지께서는 친히 너희를 사랑하시는 것이다.
- 나는 아버지께로부터 나와서 세상에 왔다가 이제 세상을 떠나 다시 아버지께 돌아간다."
- 그제야 제자들이 "지금은 주님께서 조금도 비유를 쓰지 않으시고 정말 명백하게 말씀하시니
- 따로 여쭈어볼 필요도 없게 되었습니다. 이제 우리는 주님께서 모든 것을 다 알고 계신다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그래서 우리는 주님께서 하느님께로부터 오신 분이심을 믿습니다." 하고 말하였다.

- At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
- For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
- I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
- His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
- Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

- 그러자 예수께서는 "너희가 이제야 믿느냐?
- 그러나 이제 너희가 나를 혼자 버려두고 제각기 자기 갈 곳으로 흩어져 갈 때가 올 것이다. 아니 그 때는 이미 왔다. 하지만 아버지께서 나와 함께 계시니 나는 혼자 있는 것이 아니다.
- 나는 너희가 내게서 평화를 얻게 하려고 이 말을 한 것이다. 너희는 세상에서 고난을 당하겠지만 용기를 내어라. 내가 세상을 이겼다." 하고 말씀하셨다.

- Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
- Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
- These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
