사무엘하 3:1-4:12

 이스보셋과 아브넬의 불화로 아브넬은 다윗에게 전향했다. 요압은 다윗을 방문한 아브넬을 죽여 동생 아사헬의 원수를 갚았다. 다윗이 아브넬의 죽음을 슬퍼하자 백성들은 그를 더욱 신뢰하였다. 이스보셋의 군장 레갑과 바아나가 이스보셋을 살해하여 그 머리를 들고 다윗에게 왔으나 다윗은 그들을 처형했다.
  
  다윗에게 전향한 아브넬(3:1-3:39)    
 
  1. 사울 왕실과 다윗 왕실 사이의 싸움은 오래 계속되었다. 다윗은 갈수록 강해졌고 사울 왕실은 갈수록 약해졌다.
  2. 다윗이 헤브론에서 낳은 아들은 다음과 같다. 이즈르엘 여자 아히노암에게서 맏아들 암논을 낳았고,
  3. 가르멜 사람 나발의 아내였던 아비가일에게서 둘째 아들 길랍을 낳았고, 그술 왕 탈매의 딸 마아가에게서 셋째 아들 압살롬을 낳았고,
  4. 하낏에게서 넷째 아들 아도니야를 낳았고, 아비탈에게서 다섯째 아들 스바티야를 낳았고,
  5. 애처 에글라에게서 여섯째 아들 이드르암을 낳았다. 이상은 다윗이 헤브론에서 낳은 아들들이다.
  1. Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
  2. And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;
  3. And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;
  4. And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
  5. And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.
  1. 사울 왕실과 다윗 왕실 사이에 싸움이 계속되는 동안, 아브넬은 사울 왕실에서 차츰 세력을 굳혀갔다.
  2. 사울에게 아야의 딸 리스바라는 후궁이 있었는데, 아브넬이 그를 범하였다. 이스보셋이 왜 자기 아버지의 후궁을 범했느냐고 꾸짖자
  3. 아브넬은 몹시 화를 냈다. "나를 개대가리로 아시오? 이 날까지 나는 당신의 선친 사울의 왕실과 그 동기간과 동지들에게 충성을 바쳐 당신을 다윗의 손에 넘기지 않고 있는데, 당신은 오늘 하찮은 여자 일로 나를 책잡으시오?
  4. 나는 야훼께서 다윗에게 다짐해 주신 일이나 이루어야겠소. 만일 그렇게 하지 못한다면 이 아브넬은 어떤 천벌이라도 달게 받을 것이오.
  5. 이 나라 사울 왕실을 다윗에게 넘겨주는 도리밖에 없소. 단에서 브엘세바에까지 이르는 유다와 이스라엘을 다스리도록 다윗을 왕으로 받드는 도리밖에 없소."
  1. And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.
  2. And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?
  3. Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
  4. So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;
  5. To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.
  1. 이스보셋은 겁이 나서 아브넬에게 아무 말도 못하였다.
  2. 아브넬이 다윗에게 사람을 보내어 제안했다. "이 나라가 내 것이 아니고 누구의 것입니까? 그러니, 나와 계약을 맺읍시다. 나는 당신을 도와 온 이스라엘이 당신에게 돌아가게 하겠습니다."
  3. "좋소. 그 말대로 밀약을 맺읍시다." 하며 다윗은 조건을 내놓았다. "그 대신 조건이 하나 있소. 나를 만나러 오는 길에 사울 왕의 딸 미갈을 데려오시오. 미갈을 데려오지 않고서는 나를 볼 생각을 마시오."
  4. 한편 다윗은 사울의 아들 이스보셋에게 사절을 보내어 "내 아내 미갈을 돌려주시오. 미갈은 내가 불레셋 사람의 남근 백 개를 바치고 얻은 사람이오." 하고 청하였다.
  5. 이스보셋이 사람을 보내어 라이스의 아들 발티엘에게서 미갈을 빼앗아 오는데,
  1. And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.
  2. And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
  3. And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.
  4. And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
  5. And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.
  1. 그의 남편은 바후림까지 울면서 따라오다가 아브넬이 돌아가라고 하자 하는 수 없이 돌아갔다.
  2. 아브넬이 이스라엘의 장로들에게 말하였다. "당신들이 전부터 여러 차례 다윗을 왕으로 모시자고 하였으니
  3. 이제 그대로들 하십시오. 야훼께서 '내 종 다윗의 손으로 내 백성 이스라엘을 불레셋뿐만 아니라 모든 원수의 손아귀에서 건져내리라.' 하시지 않았습니까?"
  4. 아브넬은 베냐민 지파에게도 같은 말을 전한 다음, 이스라엘과 베냐민 가문이 다 좋게 여긴다는 것을 다윗에게 알리려고 헤브론으로 떠났다.
  5. 아브넬이 부하 이십 명을 거느리고 헤브론으로 다윗을 찾아가자, 다윗은 아브넬 일행을 맞아 잔치를 베풀었다.
  1. And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.
  2. And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:
  3. Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.
  4. And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.
  5. So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.
  1. 그 자리에서 아브넬은 다윗에게 이렇게 제의했다. "제가 돌아가서 온 이스라엘을 불러모아 임금님과 조약을 맺도록 하겠습니다. 임금님께서는 이 온 지역을 뜻대로 다스리십시오." 다윗은 아브넬을 고이 보냈다.
  2. 마침, 다윗의 부하들을 거느리고 전장에 나갔던 요압이 많은 전리품을 거두어가지고 돌아왔다. 그 때 아브넬은 다윗과 함께 헤브론에 있지 않았다. 다윗이 이미 아브넬을 고이 보낸 뒤였던 것이다.
  3. 군사들을 이끌고 돌아온 요압은, 넬의 아들 아브넬이 왕을 찾아왔었는데 왕이 그를 고이 보냈다는 말을 듣고,
  4. 왕에게 나아가 항의했다. "아브넬이 임금님께 왔었는데 그자를 그대로 보내시다니, 어찌 그러실 수가 있습니까?
  5. 임금님께서는 넬의 아들 아브넬을 잘 아시지 않습니까? 그자는 임금님을 속이고 임금님의 동정을 살피러 왔던 것입니다. 임금님께서 하시는 일을 샅샅이 살피러 왔던 것입니다."
  1. And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.
  2. And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
  3. When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
  4. Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
  5. Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.
  1. 요압은 다윗 앞을 물러나와 사람들을 보내어 아브넬의 뒤를 쫓게 하였다. 그들은 시라 우물 가에서 아브넬을 사로잡아 데리고 돌아왔다. 그러나 다윗은 그런 사정을 몰랐다.
  2. 아브넬이 헤브론으로 끌려오자 요압은 단둘이서 할 이야기라도 있는 듯이 속여 아브넬을 성문 한 옆으로 데리고 가서 배를 찔러 죽였다. 자기 동생 아사헬의 복수를 한 것이다.
  3. 다윗은 그 뒤에야 이 일을 알고 말했다. "넬의 아들 아브넬이 피를 흘리고 죽었으나, 나와 내 나라는 영원히 야훼께 죄받을 일이 없다.
  4. 그 죄는 요압의 머리와 그 가문에 돌아갈 것이다. 그 집안에는 성병환자, 문둥이, 물레질이나 할 자, 칼에 맞아 죽거나 굶어 죽을 자가 끊이지 아니하리라."
  5. 요압과 아비새 형제가 아브넬을 죽인 것은 아브넬이 저희 동생 아사헬을 기브온 전투에서 죽였기 때문이었다.
  1. And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.
  2. And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
  3. And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
  4. Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.
  5. So Joab, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
  1. 다윗은 요압과 그가 거느린 전군에 영을 내렸다. "옷을 찢고 굵은 베 옷을 허리에 두르고 아브넬의 상여를 앞서가며 곡하라." 그리고 다윗 왕도 몸소 상여 뒤를 따랐다.
  2. 아브넬을 헤브론에 장사한 다음, 다윗 왕이 아브넬의 무덤 앞에서 목놓아 울자 군인들도 모두 따라 곡을 했다.
  3. 왕은 아브넬의 죽음을 슬퍼하여 조가를 지었다. 아브넬이 어이없이 개죽음을 당하다니!
  4. 손이 묶이지도 않았고, 발에 쇠고랑을 차지도 않았는데, 불한당에게 맞아 쓰러지듯 죽었구나! 온 군인들은 다시 그를 생각하며 곡을 했다.
  5. 사람들은 다윗 앞에 나아가 요기라도 좀 하시라고 권하였다. 아직 해가 지기 전이었다. 다윗은 "해 지기 전에 음식을 입에 댄다면 어떤 천벌이라도 달게 받겠다." 하고 맹세하였다.
  1. And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.
  2. And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
  3. And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?
  4. Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.
  5. And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
  1. 이것을 보고 군사들은 모두 흐뭇하게 여겼다. 왕이 하는 일은 모두 좋게 보였던 것이다.
  2. 그제야 비로소 모든 군사들과 온 이스라엘은 왕이 사람을 시켜 넬의 아들 아브넬을 죽인 것이 아니라는 사실을 알게 되었다.
  3. 왕이 신하들에게 일렀다. "그대들도 알다시피 오늘 이스라엘의 위대한 장군이 죽었소.
  4. 스루야의 아들들이 너무 억세어서 나에게는 힘에 겹소. 이처럼 무력해서야 내가 어찌 왕노릇을 하겠소? 야훼께서 그런 나쁜 짓을 한 자들에게 그만한 벌을 내리시기를 바랄 뿐이오."
  1. And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.
  2. For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.
  3. And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
  4. And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.
 
  이스보셋의 최후(4:1-4:12)    
 
  1. 사울의 아들 이스보셋은 아브넬이 헤브론에서 죽었다는 소식을 듣고 맥이 풀렸다. 온 이스라엘도 갈팡질팡하였다.
  2. 사울의 아들 이스보셋 수하에는 특공대 대장이 둘 있었는데, 하나는 바아나요, 또 하나는 레갑이었다. 둘 다 베냐민 족속이며 브에롯 사람인 림몬의 아들이었다. 브에롯도 베냐민 가문에 속한 것으로 쳐주고 있었다.
  3. 브에롯 사람들은 기따임으로 난을 피해 갔다가 오늘날까지 거기에 머물러 살고 있다.
  4. 사울의 아들 요나단에게는 다리를 저는 아들이 하나 있었다. 그가 다섯 살 때, 이즈르엘에서 사울과 요나단이 죽었다는 소식이 전해지자, 유모가 그를 안고 허둥지둥 도망치다가 떨어뜨리는 바람에 다리를 절게 되었던 것이다. 그의 이름은 므비보셋이었다.
  5. 브에롯 사람 림몬의 두 아들 레갑과 바아나가 한낮에 이스보셋 왕궁을 찾아갔다. 때마침 이스보셋은 낮잠을 자고 있었다.
  1. And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
  2. And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.
  3. And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
  4. And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
  5. And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
  1. 레갑 형제는 밀을 가지러 온 것처럼 꾸미고 궁으로 들어가서 이스보셋의 배를 찌르고 달아났다.
  2. 둘은 궁에 들어가서 이스보셋이 침대에 누워 자는 것을 보고 그를 죽인 다음 목을 베어가지고 밤새 아라바 길을 걸어
  3. 헤브론으로 갔다. 그들은 다윗 왕에게 이스보셋의 머리를 바치며 아뢰었다. "임금님의 목숨을 해치려던 원수 사울의 아들 이스보셋의 머리가 여기 있습니다. 야훼께서 오늘 임금님의 원수를 갚으시어 사울 부자에게 벌을 내리셨습니다."
  4. 그러자 다윗은 브에롯 사람 림몬의 아들 레갑과 바아나 형제에게 말하였다. "사지에 빠졌을 때마다 내 목숨을 건져주신 야훼 앞에서 맹세한다.
  5. 전에도 희소식이나 되는 줄 알고 사울의 죽음을 전해 주던 자가 있었다. 그 때 나는 그 소식을 가져온 대가로 그자를 잡아 시글락에서 처형하였다.
  1. And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
  2. For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.
  3. And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
  4. And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
  5. When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
  1. 그런데 너희 고약한 놈들은 집에서 잠자리에 누워 자고 있는 무고한 사람을 죽였으니 내가 그대로 둘 성싶으냐? 나 이제 너희 둘을 죽여 그의 원한을 풀어주리라. 너희 같은 자들을 이 땅에서 씨도 남기지 않으리라."
  2. 그리고 다윗은 호위병에게 명령하여 둘을 죽이고 그 손과 발을 잘라 헤브론 못 가에 매달게 하였다. 그리고 이스보셋의 머리를 거두어 헤브론에 있는 아브넬의 무덤에 장사지냈다.
  1. How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
  2. And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
