	이사야 6:1-8:22 예언자의 소명을 받은 이사야는 유다가 바벨론의 포로가 될 때까지 하나님의 심판이 계속될 것을 알았다. 이사야는 근심하는 유다 왕 아하스에게 하나님의 승리가 보장되었으나 그의 불신앙으로 인해 심판이 임할 것이라고 예언하였다. 또한, 유다가 심판을 받은 후에 앗수르는 멸망되고 유다는 구원될 것이라고 예언하였다.

	이사야의 소명(6:1-6:13)

우찌야 왕이 죽던 해에 나는 야훼께서 드높은 보좌에 앉아 계시는 것을 보았다. 그의 옷자락은 성소를 덮고 있었다.

날개가 여섯씩 달린 스랍들이 그를 모시고 있었는데, 날개 둘로는 얼굴을 가리고 둘로는 발을 가리고 나머지 둘로 훨훨 날아다녔다.

그들이 서로 주고받으며 외쳤다. "거룩하시다, 거룩하시다, 거룩하시다. 만군의 야훼, 그의 영광이 온 땅에 가득하시다."

그 외침으로 문설주들이 흔들렸고 성전은 연기가 자욱하였다.

내가 부르짖었다. "큰일났구나. 이제 나는 죽었다. 나는 입술이 더러운 사람, 입술이 더러운 사람들 틈에 끼여 살면서 만군의 야훼, 나의 왕을 눈으로 뵙다니......."

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

그러자 스랍들 가운데 하나가 제단에서 뜨거운 돌을 불집게로 집어가지고 날아와서

그것을 내 입에 대고 말하였다. "보아라, 이제 너의 입술에 이것이 닿았으니 너의 악은 가시고 너의 죄는 사라졌다."

그 때 주의 음성이 들려왔다. "내가 누구를 보낼 것인가? 누가 우리를 대신하여 갈 것인가?" "제가 있지 않습니까? 저를 보내십시오." 하고 내가 여쭈었더니

주께서 이르셨다. "너는 가서 이 백성에게 일러라. '듣기는 들어라. 그러나 깨닫지는 마라. 보기는 보아라. 그러나 알지는 마라.'

너는 이 백성의 마음을 둔하게 하고 귀를 어둡게 하며 눈을 뜨지 못하게 하여라. 눈으로 보고 귀로 듣고 마음으로 깨달아 돌아와서 성해지면 어찌 하겠느냐?"

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

나는 "주여, 어느 때까지입니까?" 하고 여쭈었다. 주께서 대답하셨다. "도시들은 헐려 주민이 없고 집에는 사람의 그림자도 없고 농토는 짓밟혀 황무지가 될 때까지다.

야훼께서 사람을 멀리 쫓아내시고 나면 이 곳엔 버려진 땅이 많으리라.

주민의 십분의 일이 그 땅에 남아 있다 하더라도 그들마저 상수리나무, 참나무가 찍히듯이 쓰러지리라. 이렇듯 찍혀도 그루터기는 남을 것인데 그 그루터기가 곧 거룩한 씨다."

Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

	임마누엘의 징표(7:1-7:25)

우찌야의 손자이자 요담의 아들인 유다 왕 아하즈 시대에 시리아 왕 르신이 르말리야의 아들인 이스라엘 왕 베가와 함께 예루살렘을 치러 올라왔으나 점령하지는 못하였다.

시리아 군이 에브라임에 진주하였다는 소식이 다윗 왕실에 전하여졌다. 왕의 마음과 백성의 마음은 바람에 휩쓸린 수풀처럼 흔들렸다.

야훼께서 이사야에게 분부하셨다. "너는 네 아들 스알야숩을 데리고 표백물 건조장에 이르는 길가 윗저수지의 수로 끝으로 가서 아하즈를 만나

그에게 일러라. '진정하여라. 안심하여라. 겁내지 마라. 르신과 그가 거느린 시리아인, 그리고 르말리야의 아들이 격분한다고 해서 정신을 잃지 마라. 그들은 연기나는 두 횃불 끄트머리에 불과하다.

And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;

And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

말하기를, 유다로 밀고 쳐들어가 점령하자, 그리고 타브엘의 아들을 왕으로 세우자고들 하지만,

주 야훼가 말한다. 그것은 그렇게 될 수도, 그럴 수도 없는 일,

(ㄱ)에브라임의 수도는 사마리아요, 사마리아의 우두머리는 고작 르말리야의 아들이다. (ㄴ)너희가 굳게 믿지 아니하면 결코 굳건히 서지 못하리라.'"

야훼께서 아하즈에게 다시 이르셨다.

Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

"너는 야훼 너의 하느님께 징조를 보여달라고 청하여라. 지하 깊은 데서나 저 위 높은 데서 오는 징조를 보여달라고 하여라."

아하즈가 대답하였다. "아닙니다. 나는 징조를 요구하여 야훼를 시험해 보지는 않겠습니다."

이사야가 말하였다. "다윗 왕실은 들어라. 사람들을 성가시게 하는 것도 부족하여 나의 하느님까지도 성가시게 하려는가?

그런즉, 주께서 몸소 징조를 보여주시리니, 처녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳고 그 이름을 임마누엘이라 하리라.

그 아기가 나쁜 것을 버리고 좋은 것을 택할 줄 알게 될 때는 양젖과 꿀을 먹게 될 것이요,

Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

그 아기가 나쁜 것을 버리고 좋은 것을 택할 줄 알게 되기 전에 네가 원수로 여겨 두려워하는 저 두 왕의 땅은 황무지가 되리라.

야훼께서 아시리아 왕으로 하여금 너와 너의 겨레와 너의 왕실을 치게 하실 터인즉, 그 날은 에브라임이 유다와 갈라지던 날 이후로 일찍이 볼 수 없었던 불행한 날이 되리라.

그 날에 야훼께서 휘파람으로 나일 강 하류 개천에서 파리떼를 불러오시고 아시리아 땅에서 벌떼를 불러오시리라.

모두들 몰려와서 험한 계곡, 바위 틈바구니, 온갖 가시덤불, 물 있는 모든 목장에 내려앉으리라.

그 날에 주께서 강 건너 이발사 아시리아 왕을 고용하시어 머리털과 거웃을 밀고 수염도 깎게 하시리라.

For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

그 날에는 사람마다 암송아지 한 마리와 양 두 마리밖에 기를 것이 없어

양젖만 남아돌아 두었다 먹어야 하고 이 땅에 살아 남은 자 겨우 양젖이나 꿀만 먹게 되리라.

또 그 날에는 포도나무가 천 그루 있어 그 값이 은 천 냥이나 되던 땅이 온통 가시덤불과 엉겅퀴로 뒤덮이리라.

온 땅이 이렇듯이 가시덤불과 엉겅퀴로 뒤덮여 사람이 활과 살을 가지고서야 그리로 들어가리라.

호미로 김을 매어주던 모든 산에 가시덤불과 엉겅퀴에 찔릴까 두려워 아무도 들어가려 하지 않으리니 소나 놓아 먹이는 곳, 양이나 짓밟는 곳이 되고 말리라."

And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.

With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.

	거치는 돌(8:1-8:22)

야훼께서 나에게 분부하셨다. "너는 큰 판을 가져다 거기에 누구나 알아볼 수 있는 글씨로 마헤르 샬랄 하스 바스라고 새겨라."

그래서 나는 믿을 만한 증인으로 사제 우리야와 여베레키야의 아들 즈가리야를 세웠다.

그리고 내가 여예언자를 가까이하였더니 그가 임신하여 아들을 낳았다. 야훼께서 나에게 분부하셨다. "이 아기의 이름을 마헤르 샬랄 하스 바스라 하여라.

이 아기가 아빠 엄마라 부를 줄 알기도 전에 사람들이 다마스쿠스의 보화와 사마리아에서 빼앗은 전리품을 아시리아 왕에게 가져다 바치리라."

야훼께서 나에게 다시 이르셨다.

Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.

And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz.

For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,

"이 백성이 잔잔히 흐르는 실로아 냇물을 외면하고 르신과 르말리야의 아들 앞에서 간담이 서늘하여졌으므로

나 야훼는 굽이치는 저 강줄기를 끌어들이리라. 아시리아의 왕으로 하여금 위세도 당당하게 쳐들어오게 하리라. 개울마다 물이 차고 둑마다 넘어

유다까지 밀려들어 휩쓸어가리니 그 물이 목에까지 차리라. 아, 임마누엘아, 그가 날개를 펴서 네 땅을 온통 뒤덮으리라."

민족들아, 너희는 결국 실패할 줄 알아라. 먼 데 있는 나라들도 모두 귀를 기울여라. 허리를 동이고 나서 보아라, 결국은 실패하리라. 허리를 동이고 나서 보아라, 결국은 실패하리라.

아무리 모의를 해보아도 되지 않을 일, 아무리 결의해 보아도 이루지 못할 일, 하느님께서 우리와 함께 계신다.

Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;

Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

야훼께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. "이 백성이 가는 길을 따라가지 마라." 손으로 나를 붙잡으시고 이르셨다.

"이 백성이 거룩하다고 하는 온갖 것을 거룩하다고 하지 마라. 그들이 두려워하는 것을 두려워하여 떨지 마라."

너희가 거룩히 받들어야 할 분은 만군의 야훼, 너희가 두려워하여 떨 분도 그분이다!

그는 이스라엘의 두 집안에게 성소가 되시지만 걸리는 돌과 부딪치는 바위도 되시고 예루살렘 주민에게는 덫과 올가미도 되신다.

많은 사람이 걸려 넘어져 터지고 올가미에 걸려 잡히리라.

For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

나는 제자들이 보는 데서 이 증거 문서를 묶고 이 가르침을 인봉한다.

그리고 나는 야훼를 기다린다. 그가 야곱의 가문을 외면하고 계시지만 나는 여전히 그에게 희망을 둔다.

야훼께서 주신 이 아이들과 나야말로 시온 산에 계시는 만군의 야훼께서 이스라엘에 세워주신 징조와 표이다.

사람들이 이렇게 말하는 것을 너희는 들었으리라. "중얼중얼 뇌까리는 무당과 박수에게 물어보아라. 어느 백성이 자기 신들에게 묻지 않겠느냐? 산 사람들의 일을 죽은 자의 혼백에게 묻지 않겠느냐?"

가르침과 지시를 얻으려고 하면서 이런 말을 하지 않을 수 없는 것은 그들의 마음에 아직 동이 트지 않았기 때문이다.

Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

그들은 곤경에 빠지고 허기가 져서 헤맬 것이다. 허기가 지면 짜증이 나서 왕과 신들을 저주하리라. 위를 쳐다보나

땅을 굽어보나 보이는 것은 고통과 암흑, 답답한 어둠뿐, 마침내 그 어둠 속으로 빠져 들어가리라.

And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
