- 아들아, 야훼께서 타이르시는 말씀을 가볍게 여기지 말고 그의 꾸지람을 달게 받아라.
- 야훼께서는 사랑하는 자를 꾸짖으시되 귀여운 아들에게 매를 드는 아비처럼 하신다.
- 지혜를 찾으면 얼마나 행복하랴! 슬기를 얻으면 얼마나 행복하랴!
- 지혜를 얻는 것이 은보다 값 있고 황금보다 유익하다.
- 지혜는 붉은 산호보다도 값진 것, 네가 가진 어느 것도 그만큼 값지지는 못하다.

- My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
- For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
- Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
- For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
- She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
