- 교우 여러분, 여러분은 우리의 수고와 노력을 잘 기억하실 것입니다. 우리는 여러분에게 하느님의 복음을 전하는 동안 누구에게도 폐를 끼치지 않으려고 밤낮으로 노동을 했습니다.
- 또 교우 여러분에게 대한 우리의 행동이 경건하고 올바르고 흠잡힐 데가 없었다는 것은 여러분도 목격해서 잘 아는 일이고 하느님께서도 증명해 주실 것입니다.
- 아시다시피 우리는 자녀를 대하는 아버지처럼 여러분 하나하나가
- 하느님을 기쁘게 해드릴 수 있는 생활을 하도록 권고하고 격려하고 지도했습니다. 하느님은 여러분을 부르셔서 당신의 나라와 영광을 누리게 해주시는 분이십니다.
- 우리가 늘 하느님께 감사하는 것은 우리가 여러분에게 하느님의 말씀을 전했을 때에 여러분이 그것을 사람의 말로 받아들이지 않고 사실 그대로 하느님의 말씀으로 받아들였다는 것입니다. 이 하느님의 말씀은 믿는 여러분의 마음속에서 살아 움직이고 있습니다.

- For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
- Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
- As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,
- That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
- For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

- 교우 여러분, 여러분은 유다에 있는 그리스도 예수를 믿는 하느님의 교회를 본받는 사람들이 되었습니다. 유다의 신도들이 그들의 동족인 유다인들에게서 박해를 받은 것처럼 여러분도 동족에게서 박해를 받았습니다.
- 그 유다인들은 주님이신 예수와 예언자들을 죽이고 우리를 몰아냈습니다. 그래서 그들은 하느님의 마음을 상하게 해드리고 모든 사람의 원수가 되었습니다.
- 또 그들은 우리가 이방인들에게 복음을 전해서 구원을 얻게 해주는 일까지 방해했습니다. 이렇게 그들의 죄는 극도에 달해서 마침내 하느님의 진노가 그들에게 내리게 되었습니다.
- 교우 여러분, 우리가 잠시 여러분과 떨어져 있게 되었지만 사실 몸으로만 떨어져 있고 마음으로는 떨어져 있지 않습니다. 우리는 여러분과 만나게 되기를 얼마나 간절히 바라는지 모릅니다.
- 그래서 우리는 여러분에게로 가기를 원했고 특히 나 바울로는 두 번이나 가려고 했습니다. 그러나 사탄이 우리의 길을 막았습니다.

- For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
- Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
- Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
- But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
- Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

- 우리 주 예수께서 다시 오시는 날, 주님 앞에서 우리가 누릴 희망과 기쁨이 무엇이며 우리가 자랑할 수 있는 승리의 월계관이 무엇이겠습니까? 그것이 바로 여러분이 아니겠습니까?
- 과연 여러분이야말로 우리의 영광이며 기쁨입니다.

- For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
- For ye are our glory and joy.
