- 교우 여러분, 마지막으로 주 예수의 이름으로 부탁하며 권고합니다. 여러분은 어떻게 살아야 하느님을 기쁘게 해드릴 수 있는지 우리에게서 배웠고 또 배운 대로 살고 있습니다. 그러니 앞으로 더욱더 그렇게 살아가십시오.
- 여러분은 우리가 주 예수의 권위로 여러분에게 지시해 준 것들을 잘 알고 있습니다.
- 하느님께서 여러분에게 원하시는 것은 여러분이 거룩한 사람이 되는 것입니다. 여러분은 음행을 피하고
- 각각 존경하는 마음으로 거룩하게 자기 아내의 몸을 대하고
- 하느님을 알지 못하는 이교도들처럼 욕정에 빠지지 않도록 하십시오.

- Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
- For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
- For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
- That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
- Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

- 이런 일에 있어서 형제의 권리를 침범하거나 그를 속이거나 해서는 안 됩니다. 우리가 전에 엄숙하게 지시하고 경고한 바와 같이 주님께서는 이런 모든 범죄에 대해서 가차없이 처벌하실 것입니다.
- 하느님께서는 우리를 음탕하게 살라고 부르신 것이 아니라 거룩하게 살라고 부르신 것입니다.
- 그러므로 이 경고를 거역하는 사람은 사람을 거역하는 것이 아니라 여러분에게 성령을 주시는 하느님을 거역하는 것입니다.
- 교우를 사랑하는 일에 관해서는 이 이상 더 쓸 것이 없습니다. 여러분은 직접 하느님께로부터 서로 사랑하라는 교훈을 받았을 뿐만 아니라
- 그 교훈을 실천해서 마케도니아 온 지방에 있는 모든 교우들을 사랑하고 있기 때문입니다. 교우 여러분, 여러분이 더욱더 그렇게 하시기를 권고하는 바입니다.

- That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
- For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
- He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
- But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
- And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

- 그리고 내가 전에 지시한 대로 조용히 살도록 힘쓰며 각각 자기의 직업을 가지고 자기 손으로 일해서 살아가십시오.
- 그러면 교회 밖의 사람들에게서도 존경을 받게 되고 남에게 신세를 지지 않게 될 것입니다.
- 교우 여러분, 죽은 사람들에 관해서 여러분이 알아두셔야 할 것이 있습니다. 여러분은 희망을 가지지 못하는 다른 사람들처럼 슬퍼해서는 안 됩니다.
- 우리는 예수께서 죽으셨다가 다시 살아나신 것을 믿습니다. 그래서 우리는 예수를 믿다가 죽은 사람들을 하느님께서 예수와 함께 생명의 나라로 데려가실 것을 믿습니다.
- 우리는 주님의 말씀을 근거로 해서 말합니다. 주님께서 다시 오시는 날 우리가 살아 남아 있다 해도 우리는 이미 죽은 사람들보다 결코 먼저 가지는 못할 것입니다.

- And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
- That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
- But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
- For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
- For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

- 명령이 떨어지고 대천사의 부르는 소리가 들리고 하느님의 나팔 소리가 울리면, 주님께서 친히 하늘로부터 내려오실 것입니다. 그러면 그리스도를 믿다가 죽은 사람들이 먼저 살아날 것이고,
- 다음으로는 그 때에 살아 남아 있는 우리가 그들과 함께 구름을 타고 공중으로 들리어 올라가서 주님을 만나게 될 것입니다. 이렇게 해서 우리는 항상 주님과 함께 있게 될 것입니다.
- 그러므로 여러분은 이런 말로 위로하십시오.

- For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
- Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
- Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
