- 아들아, 내 말을 지키고 내 훈계를 마음에 간직하여라.
- 복되게 살려거든 내 훈계를 지키고 내 가르침을 네 눈동자처럼 간직하여라.
- 그것을 네 손가락에 매고 네 마음속에 새겨두어라.
- 지혜를 네 신부로 삼고 슬기를 네 애인이라 불러라.
- 그래야 지혜가 너를 창녀에게 빠지지 않도록 지켜주고, 남의 계집의 유혹에 걸려들지 않게 해준다.

- My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
- Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
- Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
- Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
- That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
