- 노예들은 자기 주인을 대할 때 깊이 존경하며 섬겨야 할 사람으로 여기십시오. 그래야 하느님이 모독을 당하지 않으실 것이고 우리의 교회가 비방을 받지 않을 것입니다.
- 그리스도를 믿는 주인을 섬기는 사람들은 주인이 교우라고 하여 소홀히 여기지 말고 오히려 더 잘 섬겨야 합니다. 결국 이렇게 섬겨서 이익을 얻는 사람들은 사랑하는 동료 신도들이 아니고 누구이겠습니까?
- 다른 교리를 가르치거나 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 건전한 말씀을 받아들이지 않거나 경건한 생활 원칙을 따르지 않는 사람은
- 잔뜩 교만해져서 아무것도 모르면서도 쓸데없는 질문과 토론에만 미친듯이 열중합니다. 그런 데서 시기와 다툼과 비방과 못된 의심과
- 분쟁이 생깁니다. 마음이 썩고 진리를 잃어서 종교를 한낱 이득의 수단으로 생각하는 사람들 사이에는 분쟁이 있게 마련입니다.

- Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
- And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
- If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
- He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
- Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

- 물론 자기가 갖고 있는 것으로 만족할 줄 아는 사람에게는 종교가 크게 유익합니다.
- 우리는 아무것도 세상에 가지고 온 것이 없으며 아무것도 가지고 갈 수 없습니다.
- 먹을 것과 입을 것이 있으면 그것으로 만족하시오.
- 부자가 되려고 애쓰는 사람은 유혹에 빠지고 올가미에 걸리고 어리석고도 해로운 온갖 욕심에 사로잡혀서 파멸의 구렁텅이에 떨어지게 됩니다.
- 돈을 사랑하는 것이 모든 악의 뿌리입니다. 돈을 따라다니다가 길을 잃고 신앙을 떠나서 결국 격심한 고통을 겪은 사람들도 있습니다.

- But godliness with contentment is great gain.
- For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
- And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
- But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

- 하느님의 일꾼인 그대는 이런 것들을 멀리하고 정의와 경건과 믿음과 사랑과 인내와 온유를 추구하시오.
- 믿음의 싸움을 잘 싸워서 영원한 생명을 얻으시오. 하느님께서 영원한 생명을 주시려고 그대를 부르셨고 그대는 많은 증인들 앞에서 훌륭하게 믿음을 고백하였습니다.
- 만물에게 생명을 주시는 하느님 앞에서와 본티오 빌라도에게 당당하게 증언하신 그리스도 예수 앞에서 나는 그대에게 명령합니다.
- 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 다시 오실 때까지 그대가 맡은 사명을 나무랄 데 없이 온전히 수행하시오.
- 그리스도께서는 하느님께서 친히 정하신 때에 나타나실 것입니다. 하느님은 오직 한 분이시고 복되신 주권자이시며 왕 중의 왕이시고 군주 중의 군주이십니다.

- But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
- Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
- I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
- That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
- Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

- 그분은 홀로 불멸하시고 사람이 가까이 갈 수 없는 빛 가운데 계시며 사람이 일찍이 본 일이 없고 또 볼 수도 없는 분이십니다. 영예와 권세가 영원히 그분에게 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.
- 이 세상에서 부자로 사는 사람들에게 명령하시오. 교만해지지 말며 믿을 수 없는 부귀에 희망을 두지 말고 오히려 하느님께 희망을 두라고 이르시오. 하느님은 우리에게 모든 것을 풍성히 주셔서 즐기게 해주시는 분이십니다.
- 또 착한 일을 하며 선행을 풍부히 쌓고, 있는 것을 남에게 아낌없이 베풀고 기꺼이 나누어주라고 하시오.
- 그렇게 해서 자신들의 미래를 위하여 든든한 기초를 쌓아 참된 생명을 얻을 수 있게 하라고 이르시오.
- 디모테오, 그대가 맡은 것을 잘 간수하시오. 속된 잡담을 피하고 거짓된 지식에서 나오는 반대 이론을 물리치시오.

- Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
- Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
- That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
- Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
- O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

- 이런 반대 이론을 내세우다가 믿음의 길을 잃어버린 사람들도 더러 있으니 말입니다. 하느님께서 여러분에게 은총을 내려주시기를 빕니다.

- Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
