예레미야 39:1-41:18

 예루살렘이 함락되고 시드기야 왕과 백성들은 바벨론으로 잡혀 갔다. 그러나 예레미야를 구해 주었던 아벳멜렉은 이 와중에 하나님의 구원을 약속받았다. 포로에서 풀려 난 예레미야와 유다 땅에 남아 있던 빈민들은 바벨론 왕이 세운 총독 그다랴와 함께 거했다. 왕족인 이스마엘이 그다랴와 백성 칠십 인을 죽이고 암몬 족속에게 가자, 요하난 일행은 바벨론의 보복을 두려워하여 애굽으로 가려고 했다.
  
  예루살렘 함락(39:1-39:18)    
 
  1. 유다 왕 시드키야 제구년 시월에 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살이 군대를 거느리고 쳐들어와 예루살렘을 포위하였는데,
  2. 시드키야 제십일년 사월 구일, 성벽은 마침내 뚫리고 말았다.
  3. 바빌론 왕이 보낸 장군들이 모두 중앙 대문에 자리잡았다. 그 장군들이란 신마길 군 지휘관이며 기병대장인 네르갈사레셀과 궁내대신 느부사즈반을 비롯한 바빌론 왕의 장군들이었다.
  4. 유다 왕 시드키야와 그의 군인들은 그 장군들을 보고 두 성벽이 만나는 성문으로 빠져 나가, 왕실 정원을 거쳐 밤을 도와 아라바 쪽으로 도망쳤다.
  5. 그러나 바빌론 군대는 그 뒤를 쫓아 예리고 벌판에서 시드키야를 붙잡아 하맛 땅 리블라에 있는 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살 앞으로 끌고 갔다. 바빌론 왕은 시드키야에게 판결을 내리고는
  1. In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.
  2. And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.
  3. And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.
  4. And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
  5. But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
  1. 그 곳 리블라에서, 아비가 보는 앞에서 왕자들을 죽이고 유다의 유지들도 모두 죽였다.
  2. 그러나 시드키야만은 눈을 멀게 한 다음 쇠사슬로 묶어 바빌론으로 끌고 갔다.
  3. 바빌론 군은 왕궁과 민가를 다 불사르고 예루살렘 성벽을 헐어버렸다.
  4. 근위대장 느부사라단은 성 안에 살아 남은 사람들과 미리 항복했던 사람들과 남은 기술자들을 바빌론으로 데려가고,
  5. 가진 것 없는 영세민들은 포도원과 농토를 주어 유다 땅에 남겨두었다.
  1. Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
  2. Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
  3. And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
  4. Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.
  5. But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.
  1. 그 날 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살은 근위대장 느부사라단에게 예레미야를 부탁하였다.
  2. "예레미야를 데려다가 잘 보살펴 주어라. 머리카락 하나 다쳐서는 안 된다. 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 하여주어라."
  3. 근위대장 느부사라단과 궁내대신 느부사즈반, 기병대장 네르갈사레셀을 비롯한 바빌론 왕의 모든 장군들은 사람을 보내어
  4. 근위대 울 안에서 예레미야를 데려내다가 게달리야에게 맡겨 사람들과 어울려 지내면서 마음대로 출입하게 하였다. 게달리야는 사반의 손자요 아히캄의 아들이었다.
  5. 예레미야가 아직 근위대 울 안에 갇혀 있을 때였다. 야훼의 말씀이 예레미야에게 내렸다.
  1. Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,
  2. Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
  3. So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;
  4. Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
  5. Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
  1. "너는 에티오피아 사람 에벳멜렉에게 가서 나 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님이요 대원수로서 하는 말이라고 하며 이렇게 일러주어라. '내가 이 성읍에 복을 내리지 않고 화를 내리겠다고 하였는데, 이제 그 화를 내릴 때가 되었다. 너는 그 화가 내리는 것을 보겠으나,
  2. 내가 그 날 너를 건져주리라. 내가 분명히 말한다. 네가 무서워하는 사람들 손에 너는 넘어가지 않으리라.
  3. 나는 네가 칼에 맞아 죽지 않도록 반드시 건져주리라. 네가 그토록 나를 믿었으니, 내가 너의 목숨을 소중하게 지켜주리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다.'"
  1. Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
  2. But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.
  3. For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.
 
  자유의 몸이 된 예레미야(40:1-40:6)    
 
  1. 예레미야가 결박당하여 다른 예루살렘 시민과 유다 백성과 함께 바빌론으로 끌려가다가 라마에서 근위대장 느부사라단을 만나 석방 된 후에 야훼께 받은 말씀의 기록이다.
  2. 근위대장은 예레미야를 찾아 불러다 놓고 이렇게 말하였다. "그대의 신 야훼께서 이 곳에 이런 재앙을 내리겠다고 말했다더니,
  3. 그 말대로 재앙을 내리셨구려. 그대들이 야훼의 말을 듣지 않고 죄를 지었기 때문에 이런 변을 당한 것이오.
  4. 나 이제 그대의 묶인 손을 풀어줄 터이니, 나와 함께 바빌론으로 가고 싶으면 갑시다. 그대를 잘 보살펴 드리리다. 나와 함께 바빌론으로 가고 싶지 않으면 가지 않아도 좋소. 이 땅 어디든지 마음에 드는 곳에 가서 사시오."
  5. 그래도 예레미야가 돌아가지 않고 있으니까, 그는 다시 말하였다. "사반의 손자, 아히캄의 아들 게달리야에게 가보시오. 바빌론 왕이 유다 성읍들을 돌보라고 게달리야를 세우셨으니, 그의 곁에서 백성들과 어울려 지내시오. 그것도 싫거든 어디든지 마음 드는 곳에 가서 사시오." 이렇게 말하며 근위대장은 예레미야에게 양식과 선물을 주어 보냈다.
  1. The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
  2. And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
  3. Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
  4. And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
  5. Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
  1. 예레미야는 아히캄의 아들 게달리야를 찾아 미스바로 가서 고향에 남은 백성과 어울리며 게달리야의 곁을 떠나지 않고 지냈다.
  1. Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
 
  살해당한 그다랴 총독(40:7-41:18)    
 
  1. 그런데 인가를 떠나 숨어 있던 장교와 패잔병들은 아히캄의 아들 게달리야가 바빌론 왕의 임명을 받아 나라를 다스리며 바빌론으로 사로잡혀 가지 않은 남녀노소 영세민을 돌보게 되었다는 소식을 들었다.
  2. 그 패잔군 장교들인 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘, 카레아의 아들 요하난, 단후멧의 아들 스라야, 느토바 출신 에매의 아들들과 마아가 출신 이자니야가 부하들을 거느리고 미스바로 게달리야를 찾아갔다.
  3. 사반의 손자, 아히캄의 아들 게달리야는 그 장교들과 군인들에게 선서하며 말하였다. "꺼리지 말고 바빌론을 섬기시오. 이 나라에 살면서 바빌론 왕을 섬기시오. 그것이 잘되는 길이오.
  4. 나는 미스바에 자리잡고 있으면서 우리를 찾아오는 바빌론 사람들을 상대하는 책임을 질 터이니, 그대들은 어느 성읍이든지 차지하고 포도를 거두어 술을 만들고 여름 과일을 거두고 기름을 짜서 그릇에 저장하고 살아가시오."
  5. 모압과 암몬과 에돔과 그 밖의 여러 나라에 망명갔던 유다 사람들도 사반의 손자, 아히캄의 아들 게달리야가 바빌론 왕의 임명을 받아 유다에 남아 있는 사람들을 돌보게 되었다는 소식을 듣고는,
  1. Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
  2. Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
  3. And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
  4. As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
  5. Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
  1. 흩어져 살던 모든 나라에서 유다 땅 미스바로 게달리야를 찾아 돌아왔다. 그 해 포도주와 여름 과일 수확이 아주 많았다.
  2. 그런데 카레아의 아들 요하난을 비롯하여 인가를 피해 숨어 있던 장교들이 모두 미스바로 게달리야를 찾아가,
  3. 그에게 말하였다. "암몬 왕 바알리스가 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘을 보내어 각하의 목숨을 노리고 있다는데, 모르고 계십니까?" 아히캄의 아들 게달리야는 그 말을 믿지 않았다.
  4. 카레아의 아들 요하난은 비밀히 미스바에서 게달리야에게 청하였다. "제가 아무도 모르게 가서 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘을 죽이겠습니다. 허락하여 주십시오. 그가 각하의 목숨을 빼앗으면 각하께 모여온 유다 사람들이 모두 흩어지고 말 것입니다. 이 얼마 남지 않은 유다인들마저 없어지고 말 것입니다."
  5. 아히캄의 아들 게달리야는 카레아의 아들 요하난의 청을 거절하며, "네가 거짓말을 하는 것이지, 이스마엘이 그럴 리가 없다."고 하였다.
  1. Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
  2. Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
  3. And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
  4. Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
  5. But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
 
 
  1. 그 해 구월에 이스마엘이 부하 열 사람을 데리고 아히캄의 아들 게달리야를 보러 미스바에 갔다. 이스마엘은 엘리사마의 손자요 느다니야의 아들로서 왕족이었다. 미스바에서 게달리야와 함께 음식을 먹다가
  2. 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘은 데리고 온 부하 열 사람과 함께 일어나 게달리야를 칼로 쳐죽였다. 사반의 손자요 아히캄의 아들인 게달리야는 바빌론 왕이 유다 지방을 보살피라고 세운 사람이었다.
  3. 이스마엘은 게달리야를 비롯하여 미스바의 모든 유다인들과 거기 있던 바빌론 군인들까지도 쳐죽였다.
  4. 이렇게 게달리야를 감쪽같이 죽인 다음날이었다.
  5. 세겜과 실로와 사마리아에서 팔십 명이나 되는 사람들이 수염을 깎고 옷을 찢으며 몸에 상처를 내고 야훼의 성전에 곡식예물과 향료를 바치러 왔다.
  1. Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.
  2. Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.
  3. Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.
  4. And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
  5. That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.
  1. 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘은 미스바에서 나와 울면서 그 사람들에게로 가서 "아히캄의 아들 게달리야를 뵈러 가느냐?"고 묻고 나서,
  2. 부하들과 함께 그들을 성 안으로 데리고 들어가서 죽여 웅덩이에 집어넣었다.
  3. 그 중에서 열 사람이 밀, 보리, 기름, 꿀을 밭에다 숨겨둔 것이 있으니 제발 살려달라고 이스마엘에게 애걸하였다. 이스마엘은 그들을 일행과 함께 죽이지 않고 살려두었다.
  4. 이스마엘이 이렇게 사람들을 죽여 그 시체를 처넣은 웅덩이는 큰 웅덩이였다. 이 웅덩이는 아사 왕이 이스라엘 왕 바아사와 싸우려고 만들었던 것인데, 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘은 그 웅덩이를 송장으로 메웠던 것이다.
  5. 그리고 나서 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘은 근위대장 느부사라단이 아히캄의 아들 게달리야에게 맡겨 보살피게 하였던 유다의 공주들을 비롯하여 미스바에 남아 있던 모든 사람들을 사로잡아 암몬 땅으로 건너가고자 하였다.
  1. And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.
  2. And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.
  3. But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.
  4. Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.
  5. Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.
  1. 이스마엘이 일을 저질렀다는 소식이 카레아의 아들 요하난과 그의 부하 장교들의 귀에 들어갔다.
  2. 그들은 곧 군대를 이끌고 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘을 치러 뒤쫓아가다가 기브온에 있는 큰 못 근처에서 만났다.
  3. 이스마엘에게 사로잡혀 가던 사람들은 카레아의 아들 요하난이 이끌고 오는 장교들을 보고 크게 기뻐하였다.
  4. 미스바에서 이스마엘에게 사로잡혀 끌려가던 사람들은 모두들 카레아의 아들 요하난에게로 돌아오고,
  5. 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘은 부하 여덟 사람을 데리고 요하난의 손을 벗어나 암몬 땅으로 도망쳤다.
  1. But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,
  2. Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.
  3. Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.
  4. So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
  5. But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
  1. 카레아의 아들 요하난과 부하 장교들은 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘이 미스바에서 아히캄의 아들 게달리야를 죽일 때 죽지 않고 사로잡혀 가던 백성, 군인, 여자, 아이, 내시들을 데리고 기브온을 떠나
  2. 피난길에 올라 이집트로 가다가 베들레헴 가까이에 있는 김함의 숙소에 들렀다.
  3. 바빌론 왕이 유다 지방을 보살피라고 세운 게달리야를 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘이 죽였기 때문에, 바빌론 사람들이 두려워서 피난길에 올랐던 것이다.
  1. Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:
  2. And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt,
  3. Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.
