- 통치자들과 지배자들에게 복종하고 순종하며 언제나 착한 일을 할 수 있는 백성이 되라고 교우들에게 깨우쳐주시오.
- 그리고 누구를 헐뜯거나 싸움질을 하지 말고 온순한 사람이 되어서 모든 사람을 언제나 온유하게 대하도록 가르치시오.
- 우리도 전에는 미련했고 순종할 줄 몰랐고 자주 잘못된 길로 빠졌고 온갖 욕정과 쾌락의 종이 되었고 악과 시기로 세월을 보냈고 남에게 증오를 받았고 서로 미워하면서 살았습니다.
- 그러나 우리 구세주 하느님께서는 당신의 인자와 사랑을 나타내셔서
- 우리를 구원하셨습니다. 우리가 무슨 올바른 일을 했다고 해서 구원해 주신 것이 아니라 오직 그분이 자비하신 분이시기 때문에 성령으로 우리를 깨끗이 씻어서 다시 나게 하시고 새롭게 해주심으로써 우리를 구원하신 것입니다.

- Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
- To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
- For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
- But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
- Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

- 하느님께서는 이 성령을 우리 구세주 예수 그리스도를 통해서 우리에게 풍성하게 부어주셨습니다.
- 그래서 우리는 그 은총으로 하느님과의 올바른 관계에 놓이게 되었고 상속자가 되어 영원한 생명을 바랄 수 있게 되었습니다.
- 이것은 틀림없는 말입니다. 그러므로 나는 그대가 이러한 점들을 강조해서 하느님을 믿는 사람들이 선행을 하는 데 전념하도록 가르치기를 바랍니다. 선행은 사람에게 유익하고 좋은 것입니다.
- 어리석은 논쟁을 피하고 족보를 캐거나 말다툼을 하거나 율법을 가지고 싸우거나 하는 일을 멀리하시오. 이와 같은 일은 헛된 일이며 이로울 것이 없습니다.
- 이단자는 한두 번 경고해 보고 그래도 말을 듣지 않거든 그와 관계를 끊으시오.

- Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
- That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
- This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
- But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
- A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

- 그대도 알다시피 이런 사람은 옳은 길을 이미 벗어나서 죄를 짓고 있으며 스스로를 단죄하고 있는 것입니다.
- 내가 아르데마나 디키고를 그대에게 보내거든 그대는 니코폴리스로 속히 나를 찾아오시오. 나는 니코폴리스에서 겨울을 날 작정입니다.
- 아폴로와 법률가 제나를 나에게 속히 올 수 있도록 주선해 주고 그들에게 조금도 부족한 것이 없게 해주시오.
- 우리 교우들도 선행에 전념해서 남에게 절실히 필요한 것들을 채워줄 줄 아는 사람이 되어야 합니다. 그래야 그들의 생활이 보람 있게 될 것입니다.
- 나와 함께 있는 사람들이 모두 그대에게 문안합니다. 우리를 사랑하는 모든 신도에게 문안하시오. 하느님께서 여러분 모두에게 은총을 내려주시기를 빕니다.

- Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
- When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.
- Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.
- And let our's also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
