- 하느님의 뜻을 따라 그리스도 예수의 사도가 된 나 바울로와 우리 형제 디모테오가
- 골로사이에 있는 성도들, 곧 성실하게 그리스도를 믿는 교우들에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 우리 아버지 하느님께서 여러분에게 은총과 평화를 내려주시기를 빕니다.
- 우리는 여러분을 위해서 언제나 기도하고 그 때마다 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지 하느님께 감사를 드립니다.
- 그것은 여러분이 그리스도 예수를 믿고 모든 성도에게 사랑을 보여주고 있다는 말을 전해 들었기 때문입니다.
- 그 믿음과 사랑은 여러분을 위해서 하늘에 마련해 두신 축복에 대한 희망에서 나온 것입니다. 그 희망에 대해서는 여러분이 진리의 말씀 곧 복음을 받아들였을 때에 이미 들은 바 있습니다.

- Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
- To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.
- We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
- since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints;
- because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel

- 그 복음은 여러분에게 전해져서 여러분이 하느님의 은총의 말씀을 듣고 그 참뜻을 깨닫게 되면서부터 열매를 맺으며 퍼져 나갔습니다. 사실 복음은 온 세계에서 열매를 맺으며 널리 퍼져 나가고 있습니다.
- 그 복음을 여러분에게 가르쳐준 사람은 우리의 사랑하는 동료 에바프라였습니다. 그는 우리를 대신해서 그리스도를 위하여 충실히 일한 일꾼이며,
- 여러분이 성령을 통해서 사랑의 생활을 하고 있다는 소식을 우리에게 전해 준 사람입니다.
- 우리는 그 소식을 들은 날부터 여러분을 위하여 끊임없이 하느님께 기도해 왔습니다. 우리는 여러분이 성령께서 주시는 모든 지혜와 판단력으로 하느님의 뜻을 충분히 깨닫게 되기를 빌어왔습니다.
- 또 우리는 여러분이 주님께서 원하시는 생활을 함으로써 언제나 주님을 기쁘게 해드리고 온갖 좋은 일을 행하여 열매를 맺으며 하느님을 더욱 잘 알게 되기를 바랍니다.

- which has come to you, just as in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and understood the grace of God in truth;
- just as you learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow bond-servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf,
- and he also informed us of your love in the Spirit.
- For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
- so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

- 또 우리는 여러분이 하느님의 영광스러운 권능으로부터 오는 온갖 힘을 받아 강하여져서 모든 일을 참고 견딜 수 있게 되기를 바랍니다. 그리고 기쁜 마음으로
- 아버지께 감사를 드릴 수 있게 되기를 바랍니다. 아버지께서는 성도들이 광명의 나라에서 받을 상속에 참여할 자격을 우리에게 주셨습니다.
- 아버지께서는 우리를 흑암의 권세에서 건져내시어 당신의 사랑하시는 아들의 나라로 옮겨주셨습니다.
- 우리는 그 아들로 말미암아 죄를 용서받고 속박에서 풀려났습니다.

- strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously
- giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
- For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
- in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
