예레미야 44:15-46:28

 예레미야는 우상 숭배를 고집하는 일부 백성들에게 유다의 패망 원인이 우상 숭배였음을 깨우쳐 주면서, 그들이 하나님을 섬기지 못하게 될 것과 소수를 제외하고는 바벨론 왕에게 죽임을 당할 것을 예고하였다. 하나님은 예언을 기록한 뒤 낙심해 있던 바룩에게 재앙중에도 그의 생명을 보호해 주시겠다고 약속하셨다. 그리고 애굽이 바벨론에 의해 멸망하고 이스라엘이 구원될 것을 약속하셨다.
  
 
  1. 다른 신들에게 분향하는 여인들과 그것을 알고 있던 남편들, 이집트의 남북에 사는 모든 교포들, 이 큰 회중이 예레미야에게 대답하였다.
  2. "당신이 야훼의 이름으로 우리에게 한 말을 우리는 듣지 않겠소.
  3. 우리는 한번 한 말을 어길 수가 없소. 하늘의 여왕께 약속한 대로 분향하고 제주를 바쳐야 하겠소. 우리는 조상들과 왕들과 고관들과 함께 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리거리에서 하던 대로 하겠소. 그 때 우리는 아무런 재앙도 당하지 않고 배불리 먹으며 잘 지냈단 말이오.
  4. 그런데 하늘 여왕께 분향하고 제주 바치기를 그만두자, 우리는 모두 궁해지다가 마침내 칼에 맞아 죽고 굶어 죽게 되었소.
  5. 우리가 하늘의 여왕께 분향하고 제주를 바칠 때, 어찌 남편들 모르게 하였겠소? 여왕의 신상을 박아 제병을 굽거나 제주를 따라 바칠 때, 어찌 남편들 모르게 하였겠소?"
  1. Then all the men who were aware that their wives were burning sacrifices to other gods, along with all the women who were standing by, as a large assembly, including all the people who were living in Pathros in the land of Egypt, responded to Jeremiah, saying,
  2. "As for the message that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we are not going to listen to you!
  3. "But rather we will certainly carry out every word that has proceeded from our mouths, by burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, just as we ourselves, our forefathers, our kings and our princes did in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and saw no misfortune.
  4. "But since we stopped burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have met our end by the sword and by famine."
  5. "And," said the women, "when we were burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and were pouring out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands that we made for her sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?"
  1. 남자 여자 통틀어 온 백성이 대답하는 것을 듣고 예레미야는 이렇게 대답하였다.
  2. "여러분과 여러분의 조상과 왕과 대신과 일반 대중이 온통 유다 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리거리에서 분향한 일을 야훼께서 모르시는 줄 아시오? 어찌 그 일을 잊으셨겠소?
  3. 당신들이 그렇게 못된 일을 하고 그렇게 역겨운 짓을 하니까 그것을 보시고 야훼께서는 더 참으실 수가 없으셔서 여러분이 살던 고향을 오늘처럼 인기척도 없는 돌무더기로 만드신 것이오. 그래서 사람들은 그 참혹한 꼴을 보고 놀라며 빈정거리게 된 것이오.
  4. 이렇게 된 것은 여러분이 다른 신들에게 분향하여 야훼께 죄를 지었기 때문이오. 야훼의 말씀을 듣지 않고 그의 법과 규정과 분부를 따라 살지 않았으므로 지금 이 같은 재앙을 당하게 된 것이오."
  5. 예레미야는 다시 온 백성, 그 중에서도 여인들에게 말하였다. "이집트에 사는 모든 유다인이여, 야훼의 말씀을 들으시오.
  1. Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men and women--even to all the people who were giving him such an answer--saying,
  2. "As for the smoking sacrifices that you burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your forefathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them and did not all this come into His mind?
  3. "So the LORD was no longer able to endure it, because of the evil of your deeds, because of the abominations which you have committed; thus your land has become a ruin, an object of horror and a curse, without an inhabitant, as it is this day.
  4. "Because you have burned sacrifices and have sinned against the LORD and not obeyed the voice of the LORD or walked in His law, His statutes or His testimonies, therefore this calamity has befallen you, as it has this day."
  5. Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including all the women, "Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt,
  1. '나 만군의 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 말한다. 너희는 안팎으로 손발이 맞아, 하늘 여왕에게 분향하고 제주를 바치기로 서원했으니까 그대로 해야겠다면서 뜻을 굽히지 않고 그대로 하고 있다. 좋다, 서원을 지키려거든 지켜보아라. 서원한 대로 하려거든 해보아라.
  2. 그러나 이집트에 사는 모든 유다인은 나 야훼의 말을 들어라. 나는 나의 큰 이름을 걸고 맹세한다. 나 야훼가 다짐한다. 이집트 어디에서도, 주 야훼께서 살아 계시는 한, 하며 나의 이름을 두고 맹세할 유다인이 다시는 없으리라.
  3. 내가 너희를 똑똑히 지켜보리라. 잘 돌봐주려는 것이 아니라 재앙을 내리기 위하여 지켜보리라. 이집트에 사는 온 유다인은 칼에 맞아 죽고 굶어 죽어 멸절되리라.
  4. 전쟁에서 살아 남아 이집트를 벗어나 고국 유다로 돌아갈 자는 몇 사람 되지 않으리라. 이집트에서 타향살이하던 유다의 남은 자들은 내 말과 저희 말 중에 과연 누구의 말이 옳았는지 그 때에 가서야 알게 되리라.
  5. 나 야훼가 말한다. 내가 이 곳에서 너희를 지켜보고 있음을 보여줄 조짐은 이렇다. 이 조짐을 보거든 내가 너희에게 재앙을 내리겠다고 한 말이 그대로 이루어지는 줄 알아라.
  1. thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, as follows: 'As for you and your wives, you have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled it with your hands, saying, "We will certainly perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her " Go ahead and confirm your vows, and certainly perform your vows!'
  2. "Nevertheless hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are living in the land of Egypt, 'Behold, I have sworn by My great name,' says the LORD, 'never shall My name be invoked again by the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As the Lord GOD lives."
  3. 'Behold, I am watching over them for harm and not for good, and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will meet their end by the sword and by famine until they are completely gone.
  4. 'Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt to the land of Judah few in number Then all the remnant of Judah who have gone to the land of Egypt to reside there will know whose word will stand, Mine or theirs.
  5. 'This will be the sign to you,' declares the LORD, 'that I am going to punish you in this place, so that you may know that My words will surely stand against you for harm.'
  1. 똑똑히 일러둔다. 보아라, 이집트 왕 파라오 호브라를 죽이려고 벼르는 원수가 있는데 내가 이제 그를 원수의 손에 넘겨주리라. 유다 왕 시드키야를, 죽이려고 벼르는 원수 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 넘겨준 것처럼, 그를 넘겨주리라.'"
  1. "Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I am going to give over Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt to the hand of his enemies, to the hand of those who seek his life, just as I gave over Zedekiah king of Judah to the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and was seeking his life.'"
 
  바룩에게 주신 약속(45:1-45:5)    
 
  1. 요시야의 아들 여호야킴이 유다 왕이 된 지 사 년째 되던 해에 예언자 예레미야는 네리야의 아들 바룩에게 하느님의 말씀을 불러주어 받아쓰게 한 다음, 바룩에게 내리는 말씀을 이렇게 전하였다.
  2. "바룩아, 나 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 너에게 말한다.
  3. 나는 네가 하는 말을 들었다. '아, 나는 끝장이다. 가뜩이나 고생스러운데 야훼마저 나를 괴롭히시니, 나는 한숨 쉴 힘조차 없고, 조금도 안심할 수가 없구나.'
  4. 내 말을 들어라. 나는 세웠다가도 헐 수 있고 심었다가도 뽑을 수 있다.
  5. 네가 이제 큰일을 도모한다마는, 그만두어라. 내가 곧 모든 사람에게 재앙을 내리겠지만, 너만은 어디 가든지 목숨을 건지도록 보살펴 주리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다."
  1. This is the message which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written down these words in a book at Jeremiah's dictation, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:
  2. "Thus says the LORD the God of Israel to you, O Baruch:
  3. 'You said, "Ah, woe is me! For the LORD has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning and have found no rest."'
  4. "Thus you are to say to him, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, what I have built I am about to tear down, and what I have planted I am about to uproot, that is, the whole land."
  5. 'But you, are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I am going to bring disaster on all flesh,' declares the LORD, 'but I will give your life to you as booty in all the places where you may go.'"
 
  애굽에 대한 예언(46:1-46:28)    
 
  1. 다른 나라들의 운명에 관하여 야훼께서 예언자 예레미야에게 일러주신 말씀.
  2. 이집트의 운명. 요시야의 아들 여호야킴이 유다 왕이 된 지 사 년 되던 해, 유프라테스 강 가 가르그미스에까지 원정을 갔던 이집트 왕 파라오 느고의 군대가 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살에게 패배할 것을 두고 하신 말씀이다.
  3. "크고 작은 방패를 차려 들고 싸움터로 나가자!
  4. 말에 재갈을 물리고 기마병들아, 올라타거라! 창에 날을 세우고 갑옷 입고 투구 쓰고 대오를 정돈하여라.
  5. 그런데 저것이 어찌 된 일이냐? 혼비백산 달아나는 꼴이 보이니, 용사라는 것들이 지리멸렬 줄행랑을 치는구나. 사방으로 무섭게 에워싸여 뒤돌아볼 겨를마저 없구나. 이는 야훼의 말이다.
  1. That which came as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.
  2. To Egypt, concerning the army of Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was by the Euphrates River at Carchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:
  3. "Line up the shield and buckler, And draw near for the battle!
  4. "Harness the horses, And mount the steeds, And take your stand with helmets on! Polish the spears, Put on the scale-armor!
  5. "Why have I seen it? They are terrified, They are drawing back, And their mighty men are defeated And have taken refuge in flight, Without facing back; Terror is on every side!" Declares the LORD.
  1. 날쌘 군인도 도망치지 못하고 용사도 빠져 나가지 못하는구나. 저 북녘 유프라테스 강 가에서 비틀거리다가 비틀거리다가 쓰러진다.
  2. 나일 강 물처럼 부풀어오르는 저것이 무엇이냐? 홍수처럼 굽이치는 저것이 무엇이냐?
  3. 나일 강 물처럼 부풀어오르는 저것은 이집트다. '홍수처럼 굽이치며 올라가 물을 뒤덮으리라. 성읍을 주민과 함께 쓸어버리리라' 하며, 이집트는 외친다.
  4. '달려라 말들아, 내달려라, 번쩍이는 병거야. 진격하여라, 용사들아. 에티오피아 군아, 리비아 군아, 너희는 방패를 잡고, 너희는 활을 겨누어 들어라, 리디아 군아.'
  5. 그러나 이 날은 만군의 주 야훼께서 거둥하시는 날, 원수들을 벌하시며 보복하시는 날이다. 야훼의 칼은 원수들을 모조리 무찌르고 그 흘린 피 흥건하리라. 이 날은 유프라테스 강 북녘 땅에 만군의 주 야훼의 향연이 벌어지는 날이다.
  1. Let not the swift man flee, Nor the mighty man escape; In the north beside the river Euphrates They have stumbled and fallen.
  2. Who is this that rises like the Nile, Like the rivers whose waters surge about?
  3. Egypt rises like the Nile, Even like the rivers whose waters surge about; And He has said, "I will rise and cover that land; I will surely destroy the city and its inhabitants."
  4. Go up, you horses, and drive madly, you chariots, That the mighty men may march forward: Ethiopia and Put, that handle the shield, And the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
  5. For that day belongs to the Lord GOD of hosts, A day of vengeance, so as to avenge Himself on His foes; And the sword will devour and be satiated And drink its fill of their blood; For there will be a slaughter for the Lord GOD of hosts, In the land of the north by the river Euphrates.
  1. 아무에게도 짓밟힌 일 없는 너 이집트의 수도야. 길르앗에 올라가 향유를 구해다가 약을 만들어 마음껏 써보아라. 공연한 노릇이리라.
  2. 너의 울부짖는 소리가 만방에 퍼져 온 세상이 너의 울음으로 가득 차리라. 용사들끼리 부딪쳐 비틀거리다가 함께 쓰러져 죽으리라."
  3. 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살이 이집트를 치러 올 때 야훼께서 예언자 예레미야를 시켜 하신 말씀이다.
  4. "이집트에 기별을 보내어라. 사방에서 칼이 내리치니 '어서 방어태세를 갖추어라.' 하고 믹돌에 소식을 전하여라. 멤피스와 다흐반헤스에도 전하여라.
  5. 너희 힘센 황소 신 아피스가 어찌하여 당하지 못하고 도망치게 되었느냐? 그렇다, 내가 거꾸러뜨린 것이다.
  1. Go up to Gilead and obtain balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain have you multiplied remedies; There is no healing for you.
  2. The nations have heard of your shame, And the earth is full of your cry of distress; For one warrior has stumbled over another, And both of them have fallen down together.
  3. This is the message which the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt:
  4. "Declare in Egypt and proclaim in Migdol, Proclaim also in Memphis and Tahpanhes; Say, 'Take your stand and get yourself ready, For the sword has devoured those around you.'
  5. "Why have your mighty ones become prostrate? They do not stand because the LORD has thrust them down.
  1. 군인들이 비틀거리다가 쓰러지면서 '어서 동족에게 돌아가자, 무찔러 들어오는 칼을 피하여 고향으로 돌아가자.' 하고 아우성친다마는,
  2. 이집트 왕 파라오에게 새 이름을 지어 '아우성쳐도 때늦은 자.'라고 불러주어라.
  3. 내 이름은 만군의 야훼, 내가 왕으로서 선언한다. 산중에선 다볼같이 높고, 바닷가에선 가르멜처럼 쳐다보이는 자가 너를 치러 오리라.
  4. 이집트 수도의 시민들아, 짐을 꾸려 들고 끌려갈 채비나 하여라. 멤피스는 돌무더기가 되리라. 헐려서 무인지경이 되리라.
  5. 이집트는 잘생긴 송아지 같으나, 북녘에서 쇠파리떼가 덤벼들리라.
  1. "They have repeatedly stumbled; Indeed, they have fallen one against another Then they said, 'Get up! And let us go back To our own people and our native land Away from the sword of the oppressor.'
  2. "They cried there, 'Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a big noise; He has let the appointed time pass by!'
  3. "As I live," declares the King Whose name is the LORD of hosts, "Surely one shall come who looms up like Tabor among the mountains, Or like Carmel by the sea.
  4. "Make your baggage ready for exile, O daughter dwelling in Egypt, For Memphis will become a desolation; It will even be burned down and bereft of inhabitants.
  5. "Egypt is a pretty heifer, But a horsefly is coming from the north--it is coming!
  1. 용병으로 합세한 자들마저 외양간의 송아지꼴이라, 버티지 못하고 뒤로 물러서서 일제히 도망치리라. 망할 날이 마침내 이르렀고 벌받을 때가 덮치고야 만 것이다.
  2. 적군이 쳐들어오면, 이집트는 놀라서 뱀처럼 울며 달아나리라. 적군이 나무꾼처럼 도끼를 들고 쳐들어와
  3. 수풀을 베어 제치리라. 내가 똑똑히 일러둔다. 적군은 헤아릴 수도 없으리라. 메뚜기떼보다도 많아 그 수를 헤아릴 수가 없으리라.
  4. 이집트 수도는 북녘 백성의 손에 떨어져 말할 수 없는 치욕을 당하리라.
  5. 나 만군의 야훼가 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 말한다. 보아라, 내가 테에베의 신 아몬을 벌하리라. 이집트를 그 신들과 왕들과 함께 벌하리라. 파라오와 그를 믿고 사는 자들을 벌하리라.
  1. "Also her mercenaries in her midst Are like fattened calves, For even they too have turned back and have fled away together; They did not stand their ground For the day of their calamity has come upon them, The time of their punishment.
  2. "Its sound moves along like a serpent; For they move on like an army And come to her as woodcutters with axes.
  3. "They have cut down her forest," declares the LORD; "Surely it will no more be found, Even though they are now more numerous than locusts And are without number.
  4. "The daughter of Egypt has been put to shame, Given over to the power of the people of the north."
  5. The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, says, "Behold, I am going to punish Amon of Thebes, and Pharaoh, and Egypt along with her gods and her kings, even Pharaoh and those who trust in him.
  1. 그들의 목숨을 노리는 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살과 그 신하들에게 그들을 넘겨주리라. 그러나 그렇게 되었다가도 다시 예전처럼 그 곳에 사람이 살게 되리라. 이는 나 야훼의 말이라, 어김이 없다.
  2. 야곱의 후손들아, 두려워 마라. 너희는 내 종이다. 이스라엘의 백성아, 무서워 떨지 마라. 내가 너희를 먼 나라에서 구하여 내리라. 포로로 잡혀갔던 나라에서 너희의 후손을 구하여 내리니, 야곱의 후손은 고향에 돌아와 평안히 살리라. 위협을 받지 않고 안정된 생활을 하리라.
  3. 나의 종 야곱의 백성아, 두려워 마라. 나 야훼가 말한다. 내가 너희와 함께 있으리라. 너희가 쫓겨가서 살던 그 나라 백성은 모조리 뿌리를 뽑겠지만, 너희만은 뿌리를 뽑지 않으리라. 벌을 주기는 하되 결코 심하게는 주지 아니하리라."
  1. "I shall give them over to the power of those who are seeking their lives, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of his officers Afterwards, however, it will be inhabited as in the days of old," declares the LORD.
  2. "But as for you, O Jacob My servant, do not fear, Nor be dismayed, O Israel! For, see, I am going to save you from afar, And your descendants from the land of their captivity; And Jacob will return and be undisturbed And secure, with no one making him tremble.
  3. "O Jacob My servant, do not fear," declares the LORD, "For I am with you For I will make a full end of all the nations Where I have driven you, Yet I will not make a full end of you; But I will correct you properly And by no means leave you unpunished."
