	365 일독성경 8월 14일 (1)

	느헤미야 5:1-6:19 성벽 공사가 어렵게 진행되는 동안 백성들 사이에서 취리 행위로 인한 문제가 발생하였고, 백성들은 부르짖어 불평하였다. 이에 느헤미야는 취리 행위를 금지시키고 발생한 문제들을 해결하였다. 또한 대적들은 느헤미야를 죽이려는 음모를 꾸몄으나 실패로 돌아갔다. 성벽 건축은 완료되었다.

	가난한 자들을 도움(5:1-5:19)

그 때에 백성들이 그들의 아내와 함께 크게 부르짖어 그들의 형제인 유다 사람들을 원망하는데

어떤 사람은 말하기를 우리와 우리 자녀가 많으니 양식을 얻어 먹고 살아야 하겠다 하고

어떤 사람은 말하기를 우리가 밭과 포도원과 집이라도 저당 잡히고 이 흉년에 곡식을 얻자 하고

어떤 사람은 말하기를 우리는 밭과 포도원으로 돈을 빚내서 왕에게 세금을 바쳤도다

우리 육체도 우리 형제의 육체와 같고 우리 자녀도 그들의 자녀와 같거늘 이제 우리 자녀를 종으로 파는도다 우리 딸 중에 벌써 종된 자가 있고 우리의 밭과 포도원이 이미 남의 것이 되었으나 우리에게는 아무런 힘이 없도다 하더라

And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.

For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.

Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.

There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.

Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

내가 백성의 부르짖음과 이런 말을 듣고 크게 노하였으나

깊이 생각하고 귀족들과 민장들을 꾸짖어 그들에게 이르기를 너희가 각기 형제에게 높은 이자를 취하는도다 하고 대회를 열고 그들을 쳐서

그들에게 이르기를 우리는 이방인의 손에 팔린 우리 형제 유다 사람들을 우리의 힘을 다하여 도로 찾았거늘 너희는 너희 형제를 팔고자 하느냐 더구나 우리의 손에 팔리게 하겠느냐 하매 그들이 잠잠하여 말이 없기로

내가 또 이르기를 너희의 소행이 좋지 못하도다 우리의 대적 이방 사람의 비방을 생각하고 우리 하나님을 경외하는 가운데 행할 것이 아니냐

나와 내 형제와 종자들도 역시 돈과 양식을 백성에게 꾸어 주었거니와 우리가 그 이자 받기를 그치자

And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.

Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.

And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.

Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?

I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.

그런즉 너희는 그들에게 오늘이라도 그들의 밭과 포도원과 감람원과 집이며 너희가 꾸어 준 돈이나 양식이나 새 포도주나 기름의 백분의 일을 돌려보내라 하였더니

그들이 말하기를 우리가 당신의 말씀대로 행하여 돌려보내고 그들에게서 아무것도 요구하지 아니하리이다 하기로 내가 제사장들을 불러 그들에게 그 말대로 행하겠다고 맹세하게 하고

내가 옷자락을 털며 이르기를 이 말대로 행하지 아니하는 자는 모두 하나님이 또한 이와 같이 그 집과 산업에서 털어 버리실지니 그는 곧 이렇게 털려서 빈손이 될지로다 하매 회중이 다 아멘 하고 여호와를 찬송하고 백성들이 그 말한 대로 행하였느니라

또한 유다 땅 총독으로 세움을 받은 때 곧 아닥사스다 왕 제이십년부터 제삼십이년까지 십이 년 동안은 나와 내 형제들이 총독의 녹을 먹지 아니하였느니라

나보다 먼저 있었던 총독들은 백성에게서, 양식과 포도주와 또 은 사십 세겔을 그들에게서 빼앗았고 또한 그들의 종자들도 백성을 압제하였으나 나는 하나님을 경외하므로 이같이 행하지 아니하고

Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.

Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.

Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.

Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.

But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.

도리어 이 성벽 공사에 힘을 다하며 땅을 사지 아니하였고 내 모든 종자들도 모여서 일을 하였으며

또 내 상에는 유다 사람들과 민장들 백오십 명이 있고 그 외에도 우리 주위에 있는 이방 족속들 중에서 우리에게 나아온 자들이 있었는데

매일 나를 위하여 소 한 마리와 살진 양 여섯 마리를 준비하며 닭도 많이 준비하고 열흘에 한 번씩은 각종 포도주를 갖추었나니 비록 이같이 하였을지라도 내가 총독의 녹을 요구하지 아니하였음은 이 백성의 부역이 중함이었더라

내 하나님이여 내가 이 백성을 위하여 행한 모든 일을 기억하사 내게 은혜를 베푸시옵소서

Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.

Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.

Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.

Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.

	대적들의 음모(6:1-6:19)

산발랏과 도비야와 아라비아 사람 게셈과 그 나머지 우리의 원수들이 내가 성벽을 건축하여 허물어진 틈을 남기지 아니하였다 함을 들었는데 그 때는 내가 아직 성문에 문짝을 달지 못한 때였더라

산발랏과 게셈이 내게 사람을 보내어 이르기를 오라 우리가 오노 평지 한 촌에서 서로 만나자 하니 실상은 나를 해하고자 함이었더라

내가 곧 그들에게 사자들을 보내어 이르기를 내가 이제 큰 역사를 하니 내려가지 못하겠노라 어찌하여 역사를 중지하게 하고 너희에게로 내려가겠느냐 하매

그들이 네 번이나 이같이 내게 사람을 보내되 나는 꼭 같이 대답하였더니

산발랏이 다섯 번째는 그 종자의 손에 봉하지 않은 편지를 들려 내게 보냈는데

Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)

That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.

And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?

Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;

그 글에 이르기를 이방 중에도 소문이 있고 가스무도 말하기를 너와 유다 사람들이 모반하려 하여 성벽을 건축한다 하나니 네가 그 말과 같이 왕이 되려 하는도다

또 네가 선지자를 세워 예루살렘에서 너를 들어 선전하기를 유다에 왕이 있다 하게 하였으니 지금 이 말이 왕에게 들릴지라 그런즉 너는 이제 오라 함께 의논하자 하였기로

내가 사람을 보내어 그에게 이르기를 네가 말한 바 이런 일은 없는 일이요 네 마음에서 지어낸 것이라 하였나니

이는 그들이 다 우리를 두렵게 하고자 하여 말하기를 그들의 손이 피곤하여 역사를 중지하고 이루지 못하리라 함이라 이제 내 손을 힘있게 하옵소서 하였노라

이 후에 므헤다벨의 손자 들라야의 아들 스마야가 두문불출 하기로 내가 그 집에 가니 그가 이르기를 그들이 너를 죽이러 올 터이니 우리가 하나님의 전으로 가서 외소 안에 머물고 그 문을 닫자 저들이 반드시 밤에 와서 너를 죽이리라 하기로

Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.

And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.

Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.

For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.

Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.

내가 이르기를 나 같은 자가 어찌 도망하며 나 같은 몸이면 누가 외소에 들어가서 생명을 보존하겠느냐 나는 들어가지 않겠노라 하고

깨달은즉 그는 하나님께서 보내신 바가 아니라 도비야와 산발랏에게 뇌물을 받고 내게 이런 예언을 함이라

그들이 뇌물을 준 까닭은 나를 두렵게 하고 이렇게 함으로 범죄하게 하고 악한 말을 지어 나를 비방하려 함이었느니라

내 하나님이여 도비야와 산발랏과 여선지 노아댜와 그 남은 선지자들 곧 나를 두렵게 하고자 한 자들의 소행을 기억하옵소서 하였노라

성벽 역사가 오십이 일 만인 엘룰월 이십오일에 끝나매

And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.

So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

우리의 모든 대적과 주위에 있는 이방 족속들이 이를 듣고 다 두려워하여 크게 낙담하였으니 그들이 우리 하나님께서 이 역사를 이루신 것을 앎이니라

또한 그 때에 유다의 귀족들이 여러 번 도비야에게 편지하였고 도비야의 편지도 그들에게 이르렀으니

도비야는 아라의 아들 스가냐의 사위가 되었고 도비야의 아들 여호하난도 베레갸의 아들 므술람의 딸을 아내로 맞이하였으므로 유다에서 그와 동맹한 자가 많음이라

그들이 도비야의 선행을 내 앞에 말하고 또 내 말도 그에게 전하매 도비야가 내게 편지하여 나를 두렵게 하고자 하였느니라

And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.

Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.

For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.

Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
