예레미야 5:1-6:30

 유다의 선지자와 제사장 그리고 백성들 모두가 하나님의 규례를 어기며 가난한 자와 약한 자를 착취하는 죄를 범하였기 때문에 유다는 하나님의 심판을 피할 수 없었다. 하나님께서는 심판이 바벨론에 의한 전쟁으로 시행될 것이라고 선언하셨다. 임박한 바벨론의 침공을 앞두고 예레미야는 회개를 촉구했으나 백성과 지도자들은 이를 무시하고 듣지 않았다.
  
  유다 심판 이유(5:1-5:31)    
 
  1. 너희는 예루살렘 거리로 빨리 다니며 그 넓은 거리에서 찾아보고 알라 너희가 만일 정의를 행하며 진리를 구하는 자를 한 사람이라도 찾으면 내가 이 성읍을 용서하리라
  2. 그들이 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세할지라도 실상은 거짓 맹세니라
  3. 여호와여 주의 눈이 진리를 찾지 아니하시나이까 주께서 그들을 치셨을지라도 그들이 아픈 줄을 알지 못하며 그들을 멸하셨을지라도 그들이 징계를 받지 아니하고 그들의 얼굴을 바위보다 굳게 하여 돌아오기를 싫어하므로
  4. 내가 말하기를 이 무리는 비천하고 어리석은 것뿐이라 여호와의 길, 자기 하나님의 법을 알지 못하니
  5. 내가 지도자들에게 가서 그들에게 말하리라 그들은 여호와의 길, 자기 하나님의 법을 안다 하였더니 그들도 일제히 멍에를 꺾고 결박을 끊은지라
  1. "Roam to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, And look now and take note And seek in her open squares, If you can find a man, If there is one who does justice, who seeks truth, Then I will pardon her.
  2. "And although they say, 'As the LORD lives,' Surely they swear falsely."
  3. O LORD, do not Your eyes look for truth? You have smitten them, But they did not weaken; You have consumed them, But they refused to take correction They have made their faces harder than rock; They have refused to repent.
  4. Then I said, "They are only the poor, They are foolish; For they do not know the way of the LORD Or the ordinance of their God.
  5. "I will go to the great And will speak to them, For they know the way of the LORD And the ordinance of their God " But they too, with one accord, have broken the yoke And burst the bonds.
  1. 그러므로 수풀에서 나오는 사자가 그들을 죽이며 사막의 이리가 그들을 멸하며 표범이 성읍들을 엿본즉 그리로 나오는 자마다 찢기리니 이는 그들의 허물이 많고 반역이 심함이니이다
  2. 내가 어찌 너를 용서하겠느냐 네 자녀가 나를 버리고 신이 아닌 것들로 맹세하였으며 내가 그들을 배불리 먹인즉 그들이 간음하며 창기의 집에 허다히 모이며
  3. 그들은 두루 다니는 살진 수말 같이 각기 이웃의 아내를 따르며 소리지르는도다
  4. 여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 어찌 이 일들에 대하여 벌하지 아니하겠으며 내 마음이 이런 나라에 보복하지 않겠느냐
  5. 너희는 그 성벽에 올라가 무너뜨리되 다 무너뜨리지 말고 그 가지만 꺾어 버리라 여호와의 것이 아님이니라
  1. Therefore a lion from the forest will slay them, A wolf of the deserts will destroy them, A leopard is watching their cities Everyone who goes out of them will be torn in pieces, Because their transgressions are many, Their apostasies are numerous.
  2. "Why should I pardon you? Your sons have forsaken Me And sworn by those who are not gods When I had fed them to the full, They committed adultery And trooped to the harlot's house.
  3. "They were well-fed lusty horses, Each one neighing after his neighbor's wife.
  4. "Shall I not punish these people," declares the LORD, "And on a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?
  5. "Go up through her vine rows and destroy, But do not execute a complete destruction; Strip away her branches, For they are not the LORD'S.
  1. 여호와의 말씀이니라 이스라엘의 집과 유다의 집이 내게 심히 반역하였느니라
  2. 그들이 여호와를 인정하지 아니하며 말하기를 여호와께서는 계시지 아니하니 재앙이 우리에게 임하지 아니할 것이요 우리가 칼과 기근을 보지 아니할 것이며
  3. 선지자들은 바람이라 말씀이 그들의 속에 있지 아니한즉 그같이 그들이 당하리라 하느니라
  4. 그러므로 만군의 하나님 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 너희가 이 말을 하였은즉 볼지어다 내가 네 입에 있는 나의 말을 불이 되게 하고 이 백성을 나무가 되게 하여 불사르리라
  5. 여호와의 말씀이니라 이스라엘 집이여 보라 내가 한 나라를 먼 곳에서 너희에게로 오게 하리니 곧 강하고 오랜 민족이라 그 나라 말을 네가 알지 못하며 그 말을 네가 깨닫지 못하느니라
  1. "For the house of Israel and the house of Judah Have dealt very treacherously with Me," declares the LORD.
  2. They have lied about the LORD And said, "Not He; Misfortune will not come on us, And we will not see sword or famine.
  3. "The prophets are as wind, And the word is not in them. Thus it will be done to them!"
  4. Therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, "Because you have spoken this word, Behold, I am making My words in your mouth fire And this people wood, and it will consume them.
  5. "Behold, I am bringing a nation against you from afar, O house of Israel," declares the LORD "It is an enduring nation, It is an ancient nation, A nation whose language you do not know, Nor can you understand what they say.
  1. 그 화살통은 열린 무덤이요 그 사람들은 다 용사라
  2. 그들이 네 자녀들이 먹을 추수 곡물과 양식을 먹으며 네 양 떼와 소 떼를 먹으며 네 포도나무와 무화과나무 열매를 먹으며 네가 믿는 견고한 성들을 칼로 파멸하리라
  3. 여호와의 말씀이니라 그 때에도 내가 너희를 진멸하지는 아니하리라
  4. 그들이 만일 이르기를 우리 하나님 여호와께서 어찌하여 이 모든 일을 우리에게 행하셨느냐 하거든 너는 그들에게 이르기를 너희가 여호와를 버리고 너희 땅에서 이방 신들을 섬겼은즉 이와 같이 너희 것이 아닌 땅에서 이방인들을 섬기리라 하라
  5. 너는 이를 야곱 집에 선포하며 유다에 공포하여 이르기를
  1. "Their quiver is like an open grave, All of them are mighty men.
  2. "They will devour your harvest and your food; They will devour your sons and your daughters; They will devour your flocks and your herds; They will devour your vines and your fig trees; They will demolish with the sword your fortified cities in which you trust.
  3. "Yet even in those days," declares the LORD, "I will not make you a complete destruction.
  4. "It shall come about when they say, 'Why has the LORD our God done all these things to us?' then you shall say to them, 'As you have forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.'
  5. "Declare this in the house of Jacob And proclaim it in Judah, saying,
  1. 어리석고 지각이 없으며 눈이 있어도 보지 못하며 귀가 있어도 듣지 못하는 백성이여 이를 들을지어다
  2. 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희가 나를 두려워하지 아니하느냐 내 앞에서 떨지 아니하겠느냐 내가 모래를 두어 바다의 한계를 삼되 그것으로 영원한 한계를 삼고 지나치지 못하게 하였으므로 파도가 거세게 이나 그것을 이기지 못하며 뛰노나 그것을 넘지 못하느니라
  3. 그러나 너희 백성은 배반하며 반역하는 마음이 있어서 이미 배반하고 갔으며
  4. 또 너희 마음으로 우리에게 이른 비와 늦은 비를 때를 따라 주시며 우리를 위하여 추수 기한을 정하시는 우리 하나님 여호와를 경외하자 말하지도 아니하니
  5. 너희 허물이 이러한 일들을 물리쳤고 너희 죄가 너희로부터 좋은 것을 막았느니라
  1. 'Now hear this, O foolish and senseless people, Who have eyes but do not see; Who have ears but do not hear.
  2. 'Do you not fear Me?' declares the LORD 'Do you not tremble in My presence? For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, An eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it. Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.
  3. 'But this people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; They have turned aside and departed.
  4. 'They do not say in their heart, "Let us now fear the LORD our God, Who gives rain in its season, Both the autumn rain and the spring rain, Who keeps for us The appointed weeks of the harvest."
  5. 'Your iniquities have turned these away, And your sins have withheld good from you.
  1. 내 백성 가운데 악인이 있어서 새 사냥꾼이 매복함 같이 지키며 덫을 놓아 사람을 잡으며
  2. 새장에 새들이 가득함 같이 너희 집들에 속임이 가득하도다 그러므로 너희가 번창하고 거부가 되어
  3. 살지고 윤택하며 또 행위가 심히 악하여 자기 이익을 얻으려고 송사 곧 고아의 송사를 공정하게 하지 아니하며 빈민의 재판을 공정하게 판결하지 아니하니
  4. 내가 이 일들에 대하여 벌하지 아니하겠으며 내 마음이 이같은 나라에 보복하지 아니하겠느냐 여호와의 말씀이니라
  5. 이 땅에 무섭고 놀라운 일이 있도다
  1. 'For wicked men are found among My people, They watch like fowlers lying in wait; They set a trap, They catch men.
  2. 'Like a cage full of birds, So their houses are full of deceit; Therefore they have become great and rich.
  3. 'They are fat, they are sleek, They also excel in deeds of wickedness; They do not plead the cause, The cause of the orphan, that they may prosper; And they do not defend the rights of the poor.
  4. 'Shall I not punish these people?' declares the LORD, 'On a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?'
  5. "An appalling and horrible thing Has happened in the land:
  1. 선지자들은 거짓을 예언하며 제사장들은 자기 권력으로 다스리며 내 백성은 그것을 좋게 여기니 마지막에는 너희가 어찌하려느냐
  1. The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule on their own authority; And My people love it so! But what will you do at the end of it?
 
  임박한 멸망(6:1-6:30)    
 
  1. 베냐민 자손들아 예루살렘 가운데로부터 피난하라 드고아에서 나팔을 불고 벧학게렘에서 깃발을 들라 재앙과 큰 파멸이 북방에서 엿보아 옴이니라
  2. 아름답고 우아한 시온의 딸을 내가 멸절하리니
  3. 목자들이 그 양 떼를 몰고 와서 주위에 자기 장막을 치고 각기 그 처소에서 먹이리로다
  4. 너희는 그를 칠 준비를 하라 일어나라 우리가 정오에 올라가자 아하 아깝다 날이 기울어 저녁 그늘이 길었구나
  5. 일어나라 우리가 밤에 올라가서 그 요새들을 헐자 하도다
  1. "Flee for safety, O sons of Benjamin, From the midst of Jerusalem! Now blow a trumpet in Tekoa And raise a signal over Beth-haccerem; For evil looks down from the north, And a great destruction.
  2. "The comely and dainty one, the daughter of Zion, I will cut off.
  3. "Shepherds and their flocks will come to her, They will pitch their tents around her, They will pasture each in his place.
  4. "Prepare war against her; Arise, and let us attack at noon. Woe to us, for the day declines, For the shadows of the evening lengthen!
  5. "Arise, and let us attack by night And destroy her palaces!"
  1. 만군의 여호와께서 이와 같이 말하노라 너희는 나무를 베어서 예루살렘을 향하여 목책을 만들라 이는 벌 받을 성이라 그 중에는 오직 포학한 것뿐이니라
  2. 샘이 그 물을 솟구쳐냄 같이 그가 그 악을 드러내니 폭력과 탈취가 거기에서 들리며 질병과 살상이 내 앞에 계속하느니라
  3. 예루살렘아 너는 훈계를 받으라 그리하지 아니하면 내 마음이 너를 싫어하고 너를 황폐하게 하여 주민이 없는 땅으로 만들리라
  4. 만군의 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 포도를 따듯이 그들이 이스라엘의 남은 자를 말갛게 주우리라 너는 포도 따는 자처럼 네 손을 광주리에 자주자주 놀리라 하시나니
  5. 내가 누구에게 말하며 누구에게 경책하여 듣게 할꼬 보라 그 귀가 할례를 받지 못하였으므로 듣지 못하는도다 보라 여호와의 말씀을 그들이 자신들에게 욕으로 여기고 이를 즐겨 하지 아니하니
  1. For thus says the LORD of hosts, "Cut down her trees And cast up a siege against Jerusalem This is the city to be punished, In whose midst there is only oppression.
  2. "As a well keeps its waters fresh, So she keeps fresh her wickedness Violence and destruction are heard in her; Sickness and wounds are ever before Me.
  3. "Be warned, O Jerusalem, Or I shall be alienated from you, And make you a desolation, A land not inhabited."
  4. Thus says the LORD of hosts, "They will thoroughly glean as the vine the remnant of Israel; Pass your hand again like a grape gatherer Over the branches."
  5. To whom shall I speak and give warning That they may hear? Behold, their ears are closed And they cannot listen Behold, the word of the LORD has become a reproach to them; They have no delight in it.
  1. 그러므로 여호와의 분노가 내게 가득하여 참기 어렵도다 그것을 거리에 있는 아이들과 모인 청년들에게 부으리니 남편과 아내와 나이 든 사람과 늙은이가 다 잡히리로다
  2. 내가 그 땅 주민에게 내 손을 펼 것인즉 그들의 집과 밭과 아내가 타인의 소유로 이전되리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
  3. 이는 그들이 가장 작은 자로부터 큰 자까지 다 탐욕을 부리며 선지자로부터 제사장까지 다 거짓을 행함이라
  4. 그들이 내 백성의 상처를 가볍게 여기면서 말하기를 평강하다 평강하다 하나 평강이 없도다
  5. 그들이 가증한 일을 행할 때에 부끄러워하였느냐 아니라 조금도 부끄러워 하지 않을 뿐 아니라 얼굴도 붉어지지 않았느니라 그러므로 그들이 엎드러지는 자와 함께 엎드러질 것이라 내가 그들을 벌하리니 그 때에 그들이 거꾸러지리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
  1. But I am full of the wrath of the LORD; I am weary with holding it in "Pour it out on the children in the street And on the gathering of young men together; For both husband and wife shall be taken, The aged and the very old.
  2. "Their houses shall be turned over to others, Their fields and their wives together; For I will stretch out My hand Against the inhabitants of the land," declares the LORD.
  3. "For from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is greedy for gain, And from the prophet even to the priest Everyone deals falsely.
  4. "They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, 'Peace, peace,' But there is no peace.
  5. "Were they ashamed because of the abomination they have done? They were not even ashamed at all; They did not even know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time that I punish them, They shall be cast down," says the LORD.
  1. 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 너희는 길에 서서 보며 옛적 길 곧 선한 길이 어디인지 알아보고 그리로 가라 너희 심령이 평강을 얻으리라 하나 그들의 대답이 우리는 그리로 가지 않겠노라 하였으며
  2. 내가 또 너희 위에 파수꾼을 세웠으니 나팔 소리를 들으라 하나 그들의 대답이 우리는 듣지 않겠노라 하였도다
  3. 그러므로 너희 나라들아 들으라 무리들아 그들이 당할 일을 알라
  4. 땅이여 들으라 내가 이 백성에게 재앙을 내리리니 이것이 그들의 생각의 결과라 그들이 내 말을 듣지 아니하며 내 율법을 거절하였음이니라
  5. 시바에서 유향과 먼 곳에서 향품을 내게로 가져옴은 어찌함이냐 나는 그들의 번제를 받지 아니하며 그들의 희생제물을 달게 여기지 않노라
  1. Thus says the LORD, "Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'
  2. "And I set watchmen over you, saying, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But they said, 'We will not listen.'
  3. "Therefore hear, O nations, And know, O congregation, what is among them.
  4. "Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, The fruit of their plans, Because they have not listened to My words, And as for My law, they have rejected it also.
  5. "For what purpose does frankincense come to Me from Sheba And the sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable And your sacrifices are not pleasing to Me."
  1. 그러므로 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 내가 이 백성 앞에 장애물을 두리니 아버지와 아들들이 함께 거기에 걸려 넘어지며 이웃과 그의 친구가 함께 멸망하리라
  2. 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 보라 한 민족이 북방에서 오며 큰 나라가 땅 끝에서부터 떨쳐 일어나나니
  3. 그들은 활과 창을 잡았고 잔인하여 사랑이 없으며 그 목소리는 바다처럼 포효하는 소리라 그들이 말을 타고 전사 같이 다 대열을 벌이고 시온의 딸인 너를 치려 하느니라 하시도다
  4. 우리가 그 소문을 들었으므로 손이 약하여졌고 고통이 우리를 잡았으므로 그 아픔이 해산하는 여인 같도다
  5. 너희는 밭에도 나가지 말라 길로도 다니지 말라 원수의 칼이 있고 사방에 두려움이 있음이라
  1. Therefore, thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am laying stumbling blocks before this people And they will stumble against them, Fathers and sons together; Neighbor and friend will perish."
  2. Thus says the LORD, "Behold, a people is coming from the north land, And a great nation will be aroused from the remote parts of the earth.
  3. "They seize bow and spear; They are cruel and have no mercy; Their voice roars like the sea, And they ride on horses, Arrayed as a man for the battle Against you, O daughter of Zion!"
  4. We have heard the report of it; Our hands are limp Anguish has seized us, Pain as of a woman in childbirth.
  5. Do not go out into the field And do not walk on the road, For the enemy has a sword, Terror is on every side.
  1. 딸 내 백성이 굵은 베를 두르고 재에서 구르며 독자를 잃음 같이 슬퍼하며 통곡할지어다 멸망시킬 자가 갑자기 우리에게 올 것임이라
  2. 내가 이미 너를 내 백성 중에 망대와 요새로 삼아 그들의 길을 알고 살피게 하였노라
  3. 그들은 다 심히 반역한 자며 비방하며 돌아다니는 자며 그들은 놋과 철이며 다 사악한 자라
  4. 풀무불을 맹렬히 불면 그 불에 납이 살라져서 단련하는 자의 일이 헛되게 되느니라 이와 같이 악한 자가 제거되지 아니하나니
  5. 사람들이 그들을 내버린 은이라 부르게 될 것은 여호와께서 그들을 버렸음이라
  1. O daughter of my people, put on sackcloth And roll in ashes; Mourn as for an only son, A lamentation most bitter. For suddenly the destroyer Will come upon us.
  2. "I have made you an assayer and a tester among My people, That you may know and assay their way."
  3. All of them are stubbornly rebellious, Going about as a talebearer They are bronze and iron; They, all of them, are corrupt.
  4. The bellows blow fiercely, The lead is consumed by the fire; In vain the refining goes on, But the wicked are not separated.
  5. They call them rejected silver, Because the LORD has rejected them.
 
  경책(警責, 6:10)  경고하여 책망함.  
  심상히(尋常, 6:14)  ‘심각한 상태가 아닌 것처럼’이란 뜻으로, 여기서는 유다 백성이 죄를 가볍게 여겼다는 의미
