- 아브라함은 시험을 받았을 때 믿음으로 이삭을 바쳤습니다. 그는 많은 후손을 보게 될 것이라는 하나님의 약속을 받은 사람인데도 하나밖에 없는 외아들을 바친 것입니다.
- 하나님은 아브라함에게 '이삭을 통해서 난 사람이라야 네 후손으로 인정될 것이다.' 라고 말씀하셨습니다.
- 아브라함은 하나님께서 죽은 사람들까지도 다시 살리실 수 있다고 믿었습니다. 말하자면 아브라함은 죽은 사람들 가운에서 이삭을 다시 받은 셈입니다.
- 믿음으로 이삭은 야곱과 에서의 장래에 대하여 축복해 주었습니다.
- 믿음으로 야곱은 죽을 때 요셉의 아들들을 하나하나 축복해 주었고 또한 그의 지팡이를 의지하여 하나님께 경배드렸습니다.

- 믿음으로 이스라엘 백성들은 육지를 걷듯이 홍해를 건넜으나 이집트 사람들은 건너려다 모두 빠져 죽고 말았습니다.
