사무엘상 15:1-16:23

 아말렉과의 전투에서 승리한 사울은 출애굽 당시 이스라엘을 대적했던 그들을 완전히 진멸하라는 하나님의 명령을 거역했다. 하나님께서는 사무엘을 통하여 불순종한 사울의 폐위를 선언하신 후, 베들레헴으로 보내 다윗에게 기름을 부어 사울을 대신할 왕으로 선택하셨다. 다윗은 사울에게 수금을 타서 악신을 떠나게 해주며 그의 사랑을 받았다.
  
  사울의 폐위 선언(15:1-15:35)    
 
  1. 어느 날 사무엘이 사울에게 이렇게 말하였다. '여호와께서는 나를 보내셔서 당신을 왕위에 앉혀 이스라엘을 다스리게 하였소. 그러니 이제 왕은 여호와의 말씀을 잘 들으시오.
  2. 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '내 백성이 이집트에서 나왔을 때 아말렉이 그들을 길에서 대적하였으므로 내가 그들을 벌하기로 작정하였다.
  3. 이제 너는 가서 아말렉을 치고 소와 양과 낙타와 나귀와 기타 가축은 물론, 남자 여자 어른 아이 할 것 없이 젖먹이까지 모조리 죽여라.'
  4. 그래서 사울은 병력을 들라임에 소집하고 인원 점검을 했는데 이스라엘 사람이 200,000명이며 유다 사람이 10,000명이었다.
  5. 사울은 자기 군대를 이끌고 아말렉성에 접근하여 계곡에 매복하였다.
  1. Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
  2. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
  3. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
  4. And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
  5. And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.
  1. 이에 그가 겐 사람들에게 말하였다. '너희는 아말렉 사람들을 떠나라. 우리는 너희마저 죽이고 싶지는 않다. 이스라엘 백성이 이집트에서 나올 때 너희 조상들이 우리 이스라엘 사람에게 친절을 베풀었다.' 그래서 겐 사람들은 아말렉 사람들에게서 떠났다.
  2. 사울은 하윌라에서부터 이집트 동쪽에 있는 술에 이르기까지 줄곧 아말렉 사람을 쳐서
  3. 그들의 왕인 아각을 생포하고 그 나머지 백성은 모조리 죽여버렸다.
  4. 그러나 사울과 그의 부하들은 아각과 제일 좋은 양과 송아지와 어린 양과 그 밖의 좋은 것을 모두 남기고 없애기를 원치 않았으며 다만 무가치하고 쓸모없는 것만 골라서 죽이거나 없애 버렸다.
  5. 그때 여호와께서 사무엘에게 말씀하셨다. '내가 사울을 왕으로 세운 것이 후회가 된다. 그가 내게서 떠나고 내 명령에 순종하지 않았다.' 사무엘은 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 근심하여 밤새도록 여호와께 부르짖었다.
  1. And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
  2. And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.
  3. And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
  4. But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
  5. Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

  2. 다음 날 아침 일찍 사무엘은 사울을 만나러 갔으나 어떤 사람이 그에게 '사울이 갈멜에 가서 자기를 위해 기념비를 세우고 길갈로 내려 갔습니다.' 하고 말해 주었다.
  3. 사무엘이 사울에게 갔을 때 사울은 사무엘을 반갑게 맞으며 말하였다. '어서 오시오. 나는 여호와의 명령을 그대로 수행하였소.'
  4. '그렇다면 어째서 소와 양의 울음소리가 내 귀에 들려온단 말이오?'
  5. '백성들이 아말렉 사람에게서 뺏은 양과 소 중에서 제일 좋은 것은 죽이지 않고 살려 둔 것이 사실이오. 하지만 그것은 백성들이 당신의 하나님 여호와께 제사를 드리기 위해서 남겨 둔 것이오. 그리고 그 밖에 것은 우리가 모조리 죽이거나 없애 버렸소.'
  1. It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.
  2. And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
  3. And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
  4. And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
  5. And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
  1. '듣기 싫소! 지난 밤에 여호와께서 나에게 하신 말씀이나 들어 보시오.' '무슨 말씀이오?'
  2. '당신이 자신을 보잘 것없는 존재로 여기고 있을 때 하나님은 당신을 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼으셨소.
  3. 그리고 당신에게 임무를 맡기고 보내시면서 너는 가서 죄인 아말렉 사람들을 쳐서 하나도 남기지 말고 모조리 죽여라 하고 명령하셨는데
  4. 어째서 당신은 여호와의 말씀에 순종하지 않고 적의 좋은 것을 탈취하는 데만 급급하여 여호와의 명령을 거역하고 악을 행하였소?'
  5. '하지만 나는 여호와의 말씀에 순종하였소. 나는 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하신 대로 하여 아말렉 왕 아각을 끌어 왔고 그 나머지 사람들은 모조리 죽여 버렸소.
  1. Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
  2. And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?
  3. And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
  4. Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?
  5. And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
  1. 그러나 백성들이 길갈에서 당신의 하나님 여호와께 제사를 드리겠다고 그들이 뺏은 양과 소 중에서 제일 좋은 것을 제물로 달라고 요구하기에 내가 그것을 허락했을 뿐이오.'
  2. '여호와께서 번제와 그 밖의 제사드리는 것을 순종하는 것보다 더 좋아하시겠소? 순종하는 것이 제사보다 낫고 여호와의 말씀을 듣는 것이 수양의 기름보다 더 나은 것이오.
  3. 이것은 거역하는 것이 마술의 죄와 같고 완고한 고집은 우상 숭배와 다를 바 없기 때문이오. 당신이 여호와의 말씀을 버렸으므로 여호와께서도 당신을 버려 왕이 되지 못하게 할 것이오.'
  4. '그렇소. 내가 범죄하였소. 내가 당신의 말씀과 여호와의 명령에 불복종하였소. 내가 백성들을 두려워하여 그들의 요구를 들어주었소.
  5. 제발 부탁합니다. 이제 내 죄를 용서하고 나와 함께 가서 내가 여호와께 경배하도록 해 주시오.'
  1. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.
  2. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
  3. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
  4. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
  5. Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.
  1. '그렇게 해도 아무 소용이 없소. 당신이 여호와의 명령을 거절하였으므로 여호와께서도 당신을 이스라엘의 왕으로서 이미 거절하였소.'
  2. 사무엘이 발길을 돌려 떠나려고 할 때 사울이 그의 옷자락을 붙들므로 그것이 찢어지고 말았다.
  3. 그러자 사무엘이 그에게 말하였다. '여호와께서 오늘 이스라엘 나라를 당신에게서 떼어 당신보다 나은 사람에게 주셨소.
  4. 이스라엘의 영광이 되신 하나님은 거짓말을 하거나 마음이 변하는 일이 없소. 그는 사람이 아니시기 때문이오.'
  5. '내가 범죄하였소. 하지만 나와 함께 돌아가서 내가 당신의 하나님 여호와께 경배할 수 있게 하여 적어도 내 백성의 지도자들과 모든 이스라엘 군중 앞에서만이라도 나를 높여 주시오.'
  1. And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
  2. And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
  3. And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
  4. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
  5. Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.
  1. 그래서 사무엘은 사울과 함께 갔고 사울은 여호와께 경배하였다.
  2. 그때 사무엘이 '아각 왕을 나에게 끌어오시오.' 하자 아각은 만면에 미소를 띠고 오면서 '사망의 괴로움이 지나고 이제 나는 살았다!' 하고 혼자 중얼거렸다.
  3. 그러나 사무엘은 '네 칼이 수많은 여인들의 자식을 죽였으므로 너의 어머니도 자식 없는 여인이 될 것이다.' 하고 그 곳 길갈에 있는 여호와의 단 앞에서 그를 칼로 쳐 토막을 내고 말았다.
  4. 그런 다음에 사무엘은 라마의 자기 집으로 돌아갔고 사울은 기브아로 돌아갔다.
  5. 그 이후로 사무엘은 사울을 다시 찾아가지 않았으나 그는 사울 때문에 계속 슬퍼하였고 또 여호와께서도 사울을 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼으신 것을 후회하셨다.
  1. So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.
  2. Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
  3. And Samuel said, As the sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
  4. Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
  5. And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
 
  기름 부음받은 다윗(16:1-16:23)    
 
  1. 여호와께서 사무엘에게 말씀하셨다. '너는 사울을 위해서 언제까지 슬퍼하겠느냐? 나는 이미 그를 버렸으므로 더 이상 그를 이스라엘의 왕으로 여기지 않는다 이제 너는 감람기름을 가지고 베들레헴으로 가서 이새라는 사람을 찾아라. 내가 그의 아들 중에서 이스라엘의 새 왕이 될 사람을 벌써 정해 놓았다.'
  2. 그러나 사무엘은 '내가 어떻게 그렇게 할 수 있겠습니까? 만일 사울이 그것을 알면 나를 죽일 것입니다.' 하고 대답하였다. 그러자 여호와께서 사무엘에게 다시 말씀하셨다. '너는 암송아지를 끌고 가서 여호와께 제사를 드리러 왔다고 말하고
  3. 이새를 제사에 초대하여라. 그러면 내가 그의 아들 중에서 기름 부을 자를 너에게 알려 주겠다.'
  4. 그래서 사무엘은 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 했는데 그가 베들레헴에 도착했을 때 그 성의 장로들이 나와 그를 맞으며 떨면서 '무슨 잘못된 일이라도 있습니까? 어떻게 오셨습니까?' 하고 물었다.
  5. 이때 사무엘이 '별다른 일은 없소. 나는 여호와께 제사를 드리려고 왔소. 그러니 당신들은 자신을 정결하게 하고 나와 함께 제사를 드립시다.' 하였다. 그런 다음 그는 이새와 그의 아들들을 정결하게 하고 그들도 제사에 초대하였다.
  1. And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
  2. And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.
  3. And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.
  4. And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?
  5. And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
  1. 그들이 도착했을 때 사무엘은 엘리압을 보고 '이 사람이야말로 과연 여호와께서 택하신 자로구나!' 하고 생각하였다.
  2. 그러나 여호와께서는 사무엘에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '용모와 신장을 보고 사람을 판단하지 말아라. 이 사람은 내가 말하던 자가 아니다. 내가 보는 것은 사람이 보는 관점과 다르다. 사람은 외모를 보지만 나 여호와는 중심을 본다'
  3. 그때 이새는 자기 아들 아비나답을 불러 사무엘 앞을 지나가게 하였으나 사무엘이 '이는 여호와께서 택한 자가 아니오' 하였다.
  4. 다음으로 이새는 삼마를 불러 지나가게 하였으나 이번에도 사무엘은 '이 사람도 여호와께서 택하지 않았소.' 하고 말하였다.
  5. 그렇게 해서 이새는 자기 아들 일곱을 사무엘 앞으로 지나가게 하였지만 사무엘은 '여호와께서 이들 중에 하나도 택하지 않았소.' 하고 말한 다음
  1. And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD's anointed is before him.
  2. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
  3. Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
  4. Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
  5. Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.
  1. 이새에게 물었다. '이 밖에 다른 아들은 없습니까?' '제일 막내 아들이 있긴 합니다만 그는 들에 나가 지금 양을 지키고 있습니다.' '지금 당장 그를 불러오시오. 그가 올 때까지 우리는 식탁에 앉지 않겠소.'
  2. 그래서 이새는 사람을 보내 그를 데려왔는데 그는 혈색이 좋고 눈에는 총기가 넘쳐 흐르는 잘 생긴 소년이었다. 이때 여호와께서 '이 소년이 내가 말하던 바로 그 사람이다. 그에게 기름을 부어라.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
  3. 그래서 사무엘은 다윗이 그의 형제들 가운데 섰을 때 자기가 가지고온 감람기름을 그의 머리에 부었다. 그러자 여호와의 성령께서 다윗을 사로잡아 그 날 이후로 그와 함께 하셨다. 그리고 사무엘은 라마로 돌아갔다.
  4. 이제 여호와의 성령은 사울에게서 떠났고 그대신 여호와께서 보내신 악령이 그를 괴롭혔다.
  5. 그러자 사울의 신하들이 그에게 말하였다. '하나님이 보낸 악령이 왕을 괴롭히고 있습니다. 명령만 내리십시오. 우리가 수금 잘 타는 사람을 구해 오겠습니다. 악령이 왕을 괴롭힐 때마다 수금을 타면 대왕께서 곧 낫게 될 것입니다.'
  1. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
  2. And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
  3. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
  4. But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
  5. And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

  2. 그 말을 듣고 사울이 '좋다. 수금 타는 자를 나에게 데려오너라.' 하자
  3. 신하 중 한 사람이 대답하였다. '베들레헴에 이새라는 사람의 아들이 있는데 그는 수금을 잘 탈 뿐만 아니라 기백 있고 용감하며 구변 좋고 용모도 아름다운 데다가 여호와께서 그와 함께 계십니다.'
  4. 그래서 사울은 사람을 이새에게 보내 양치는 그의 아들 다윗을 보내라고 요구하였다.
  5. 그러자 이새는 다윗을 보내면서 염소 새끼 한 마리와 그리고 빵과 포도주를 실은 당나귀 한 마리도 함께 보냈다.
  1. Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.
  2. And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.
  3. Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him.
  4. Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.
  5. And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.
  1. 사울은 다윗을 보는 순간 그를 대견스럽게 여겨 사랑하고 그를 자기 호위병으로 삼았다.
  2. 그런 다음 사울은 사람을 이새에게 보내 '다윗을 내 곁에 있게 하라. 내가 그를 무척 좋아한다.' 라고 하였다.
  3. 그 후로부터 하나님이 보낸 악령이 괴롭힐 때마다 다윗이 수금을 타면 사울은 상쾌하여 낫고 악령은 그에게서 떠나갔다.
  1. And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.
  2. And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.
  3. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
