	사무엘하 15:24-17:14 도피 길에 나선 다윗은 제사장들이 메고 온 언약궤를 예루살렘으로 귀환시키고, 후새를 보내 압살롬의 계략을 탐지하게 했다. 도피중에 다윗은 시바의 악한 궤계와 시므이의 저주로 수치와 시련을 겪었다. 후새는 다윗의 명령대로 압살롬에게 거짓 투항하여 그의 신임을 얻게 되었고, 결국 다윗을 해하려는 아히도벨의 악한 모략을 실패로 돌아가게 만들었다.

	다윗의 시련(15:24-16:14)

사독과 그와 함께 한 레위 사람들이 하나님의 궤를 메어다가 내려놓고 아비아달도 올라와서 모든 사람이 성에서 다 빠져나올 때까지 기다렸다.

그때 왕이 사독에게 말하였다. '하나님의 궤를 다시 성으로 메고 가시오. 만일 내가 여호와께 은총을 입는다면 그가 언젠가는 나를 돌아가게 하여 궤와 그의 처소를 다시 볼 수 있도록 하실 것이오.

그러나 여호와께서 나를 기쁘게 여기시지 않으시면 그가 좋으실 대로 나에게 하도록 하시오.'

그리고서 왕은 사독에게 다시 말하였다. '당신은 선견자가 아니오? 당신의 아들 아히마아스와 아비아달의 아들 요나단을 데리고 평안히 성으로 돌아가시오.

내가 요단강 나루터에서 당신의 소식을 기다리겠소. 당신은 내가 광야로 들어가기 전에 예루살렘에서 일어나는 일을 나에게 알려 주시오.'

And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.

And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation:

But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.

The king said also unto Zadok the priest, Art not thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me.

그래서 사독과 아비아달은 하나님의 궤를 예루살렘에 다시 메어다 놓고 그 곳에 머물러 있었다.

다윗이 슬피 울며 머리를 가리고 맨발로 감람산 길을 올라가자 그와 함께 가는 백성들도 머리를 가리고 울면서 그 길을 올라갔다.

다윗은 자기 자문관이었던 아히도벨이 압살롬의 반역에 가담했다는 말을 듣고 '여호와여, 아히도벨이 압살롬에게 주는 조언이 어리석은 것이 되게 하소서.' 하고 기도하였다.

다윗이 예배처가 있는 감람산 꼭대기에 이르렀을 때 그의 신실한 친구인 아렉 사람 후새가 옷을 찢고 티끌을 머리에 뒤집어쓴 채 그를 기다리고 있었다.

이때 다윗이 그에게 말하였다. '자네가 나와 함께 가면 오히려 나에게 짐이 될 걸세. 그러니 자네는 예루살렘으로 돌아가서 압살롬에게 왕이여, 내가 왕의 부친에게 한 것처럼 왕을 충성스럽게 섬기겠습니다 하고 말하게. 그러면 아히도벨의 모략을 꺾을 수 있을 것이네. 그것이 자네가 나를 돕는 길일세.

Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there.

And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:

Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:

제사장 사독과 아비아달도 거기 있네. 자네는 왕궁에서 일어나는 일을 모조리 그들에게 말해 주게. 그러면 그들이 자기들의 아들인 아히마아스와 요나단을 나에게 보내 그 정보를 일러 줄 것이네.'

그래서 다윗의 친구인 후새는 그곳을 떠나 예루살렘으로 돌아갔는데 그때 압살롬도 성으로 들어가고 있었다.

But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.

And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok's son, and Jonathan Abiathar's son; and by them ye shall send unto me every thing that ye can hear.

So Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

다윗이 감람산 마루턱을 조금 지났을 때 므비보셋의 하인인 시바가 두 마리의 나귀에다 빵 200개, 건포도 100송이, 싱싱한 과일 100개, 그리고 포도주 한가죽 부대를 싣고 뒤쫓아왔다.

그러자 왕이 시바에게 물었다. '이것이 웬일이냐?' '나귀는 왕의 가족이 타고 빵과 과일은 왕과 함께 한 백성이 먹고 포도주는 그들이 광야에서 지칠 때 마시라고 가져왔습니다.'

'므비보셋은 어디 있느냐?' '예루살렘에 머물러 있습니다. 그는 이스라엘 사람들이 자기 할아버지의 나라를 자기에게 돌려 줄 것이라고 생각하고 있습니다.'

'그렇다면 그에게 속한 것을 내가 모두 너에게 주겠다.' '나는 왕의 종입니다. 아무쪼록 내가 왕 앞에서 은총을 입게 하소서.'

다윗과 그의 일행이 바후림에 이르렀을 때 한 사람이 마을에서 나와 그들을 저주했는데 그는 사울의 집안 사람 중 하나인 게라의 아들 시므이라는 자였다.

And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.

And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.

그가 다윗과 그의 신하들에게 돌을 던졌으나 왕은 백성들과 경호병들에게 좌우로 싸여 있었다.

시므이는 또 다윗을 보고 저주하였다. '살인자여! 악한이여! 여기서 사라져라! 여호와께서 사울과 그 가족을 죽인 죄를 너에게 갚으셨다. 네가 사울의 왕위를 빼앗았으나 이제 여호와께서 그것을 너의 아들 압살롬에게 주었구나! 너는 사람을 죽인 죄로 이제 벌을 받아 망하게 되었다!'

이때 스루야의 아들 아비새가 '어째서 왕은 이 죽은 개 같은 녀석이 왕을 저주하도록 내버려 두십니까? 제가 가서 당장 저놈의 목을 베겠습니다.' 하였다.

그러나 왕은 그에게 이렇게 대답하였다. '이건 네가 상관할 일이 아니다. 여호와께서 나를 저주하라고 말씀하셨기 때문에 그가 나를 저주하고 있다면 누가 그에게 네가 어째서 이렇게 하느냐? 고 말할 수 있겠느냐?

And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial:

The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.

Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so?

내 몸에서 난 아들도 나를 죽이려고 하는데 하물며 이 베냐민 사람이야 말할 게 있겠느냐? 여호와께서 저에게 그렇게 하라고 말씀하신 것이니 내버려 두어라.

어쩌면 여호와께서 내가 당하는 어려움을 보시고 오늘의 이 저주로 인해서 나를 축복해 주실지도 모른다.'

그래서 다윗과 그를 따르는 사람들은 아무 말 없이 길을 갔으나 시므이는 비탈길로 계속 따라오면서 여전히 저주하고 돌을 던지며 티끌을 날렸다.

왕과 그와 함께 한 모든 사람들이 요단에 이르렀을 때 그들은 몹시 지쳐서 그 곳에 잠시 머물러 쉬었다.

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.

It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

	아히도벨과 후새의 모략(16:15-17:14)

한편 압살롬과 그의 추종자들은 예루살렘에 들어왔고 아히도벨은 압살롬과 함께 있었다.

이때 다윗의 친구인 아벡 사람 후새가 즉시 압살롬에게 가서 '대왕 만세! 대왕 만세!' 하고 외치자

압살롬이 그에게 물었다. '이것이 당신의 친구에 대한 우정이오? 어째서 당신은 친구와 함께 가지 않았소?'

'나는 여호와와 이스라엘 백성이 택한 자를 위해 일하고 그와 함께 있을 것입니다. 내가 전에는 왕의 부친을 도왔으나 이제는 왕을 돕겠습니다.'

(18절과 같음)

And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.

And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father's presence, so will I be in thy presence.

그때 압살롬이 아히도벨에게 '다음에는 내가 무엇을 해야 되겠소?' 하고 묻자

아히도벨이 이렇게 대답하였다. '왕의 아버지가 궁을 지키기 위해 이곳에 남겨 둔 후궁들이 있습니다. 왕은 그들과 동침하십시오. 그러면 왕의 부친이 왕을 원수로 여기고 있다는 것을 모든 이스라엘 사람들이 다 알게 될 것이며 왕을 따르는 사람들은 크게 힘을 얻을 것입니다.'

그래서 압살롬의 추종자들은 압살롬을 위해 궁전 옥상에 천막을 쳐놓았으며 압살롬은 모든 이스라엘 사람들이 보는 데서 자기 아버지의 후궁들과 동침하였다.

당시 아히도벨의 조언은 마치 하나님의 말씀과도 같아서 다윗은 물론 압살롬도 그의 모든 조언을 그대로 따랐다.

Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.

And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.

So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

그 후에 아히도벨이 압살롬에게 말하였다. '나에게 병력 12,000명만 주십시오. 내가 오늘 밤 다윗을 추적하러 떠나겠습니다.

그가 지쳐서 피곤할 때 내가 그를 기습하면 그와 그 군대는 공포에 질려서 모두 도망할 것입니다. 그때 나는 다윗만 죽이고 그와 함께 있는 나머지 백성들은 모두 왕에게 돌아오도록 하겠습니다. 왕이 찾는 그 사람만 죽으면 다른 사람들은 자연히 돌아오게 되고 모든 백성은 평안할 것입니다.'

이 말을 듣고 압살롬과 이스라엘의 모든 장로들은 다 좋게 생각하였다.

그러나 압살롬은 '후새를 불러라. 그는 이 일을 어떻게 생각하는지 한번 물어 보자' 하였다.

Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.

And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

후새가 도착했을 때 압살롬은 그에게 아히도벨의 조언을 설명하며 '당신의 생각은 어떻소? 만일 아히도벨의 생각이 틀렸다면 당신의 의견을 한번 말해 보시오.' 하였다.

그러자 후새는 이렇게 대답하였다. '이번에는 아히도벨이 잘못 생각한 것 같습니다.

왕도 잘 아시겠지만 왕의 부친과 그를 따르는 자들은 다 용감한 병사들입니다. 그들은 아마 새끼를 빼앗긴 곰처럼 대단히 화가 나 있을 것입니다. 그리고 왕의 부친은 전쟁 경험이 많은 사람이기 때문에 밤에는 병사들 가운데서 자지 않을 것입니다.

아마 그는 지금쯤 굴이나 다른 어떤 곳에 숨어 있을 것입니다. 그가 나와서 왕의 군대를 공격하여 그 중 몇을 쓰러뜨리면 왕의 병사들이 당황하여 왕의 군대가 패했다고 외칠 것입니다.

그렇게 되면 사자같이 용감한 병사도 무서워서 꼼짝없이 얼어붙고 말 것입니다. 왕의 부친이 전쟁 영웅이며 그의 병사들도 아주 용감하다는 것은 온 이스라엘 사람이 다 아는 일이기 때문입니다.

And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.

For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

내 의견은 이렇습니다. 왕은 단에서 브엘세바까지 모든 이스라엘 사람을 모아 막강한 군대를 조직하십시오. 그리고 왕이 직접 그 군대를 지휘하는 것이 좋을 것 같습니다.

그러면 우리가 다윗이 있는 곳을 찾아 기습 공격을 하여 그와 그 군대를 한 사람도 남기지 않고 모조리 죽일 수 있을 것입니다.

그리고 만일 그가 어느 성으로 도망가면 모든 이스라엘 사람이 밧줄을 가져다가 그 성을 가까운 골짜기로 끌어내려 돌 하나 남기지 알고 그것을 무너뜨릴 수 있을 것입니다.'

그러자 압살롬과 모든 이스라엘 사람들은 후새의 조언이 아히도벨의 조인보다 낫다고 하였다. 이것은 여호와께서 압살롬에게 재난을 당하게 하시려고 아히도벨의 좋은 책략을 좌절시키기로 작정하셨기 때문이었다.

Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
