예레미야 9:1-10:25

 유다 멸망에 대한 애곡의 분위기가 극도로 고조된 가운데 예레미야는 하나님의 공의를 들어 징계의 불가피성을 밝혔고, 유다를 멸망케 한 우상 숭배의 실상을 간파하였다. 그는 하나님께서는 창조주로서 능력의 근원이 되시며 인생의 화복을 주관하시는 분이심에 비해, 인간에 의해 만들어진 우상은 무능할 뿐임을 공포하였다.
  
  배반한 유다의 참상(9:1-9:26)    
 
  1. 내 머리가 우물이 되고 내 눈이 눈물의 샘이 된다면 죽임을 당한 내 백성들을 위하여 내가 밤낮 울 수 있을텐데!
  2. 내가 광야에 머물 곳이 있다면 내 백성을 멀리 떠날 수 있을 텐데. 그들은 다 간음하는 자들이며 반역의 무리이다.
  3. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '그들이 활을 당기듯이 혀를 놀려 거짓말을 쏘아대니 이 땅에는 진실이 아닌 거짓이 판을 친다. 그들은 악에서 악으로 줄달음치며 나를 자기들의 하나님으로 인정하지 않는다.
  4. 너희는 너희 친구를 조심하고 너희 형제를 함부로 믿지 말아라. 형제도 속이고 친구도 다니면서 비방한다.
  5. 그들은 다 자기 친구를 속이며 진실을 말하지 않고 자기들의 혀에게 거짓말을 하라고 가르치며 악을 행하는 데 지칠 줄 모른다.
  1. Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
  2. Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
  3. And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.
  4. Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
  5. And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.
  1. 너는 그들의 기만 가운데 살고 있다. 그들은 기만으로 나를 인정하려고 하지 않는다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  2. 그러므로 전능하신 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '보라, 내가 내 백성을 시련의 도가니에 넣어 금속처럼 연단하고 시험하겠다. 이 밖에 내가 달리 무엇을 할 수 있겠는가?
  3. 그들의 혀는 사람을 죽이는 화살과 같다. 그들은 항상 거짓을 말하고 입으로는 자기 이웃에게 다정히 말하면서도 마음 속으로는 그를 잡을 덫을 놓고 있다.
  4. 내가 이런 일을 보고서도 그들을 벌하지 않겠느냐? 어찌 내가 이런 나라에 보복하지 않겠느냐?'
  5. 내가 산들을 위해 울고 부르짖으며 광야의 목장을 위해 슬퍼할 것이니 그것들이 황폐하므로 지나다니는 자가 없고 가축의 소리가 들리지 않으며 공중의 새와 짐승이 다 도망가고 없어졌기 때문이다.
  1. Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.
  2. Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
  3. Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.
  4. Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
  5. For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '내가 예루살렘을 폐허의 무더기로 만들며 이리의 소굴이 되게 하고 유다 성들로 황폐하게 하여 사람이 살지 않게 하겠다.'
  2. 지혜로와서 이 일을 깨달을 만한 자가 누구인가? 여호와의 말씀을 받아서 그것을 선포할 자가 누구인가? 어떻게 하다가 이 땅이 멸망하여 사막처럼 황폐해져서 지나다니는 자가 없게 되었는가?
  3. 여호와께서 말씀하셨다. '이것은 내 백성들이 내가 준 법을 저버리고 나에게 복종하지 않으며 내 말대로 행하지 않고
  4. 오히려 그 마음의 악한 고집을 따라 그들의 조상들이 가르친 바알 우상들을 섬겼기 때문이다.
  5. 그러므로 전능한 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님 내가 말한다. 보라, 내가 이 백성에게 쑥을 먹이며 독물을 마시게 하고
  1. And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.
  2. Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
  3. And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
  4. But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:
  5. Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
  1. 그들과 그 조상들이 알지 못하던 나라로 그들을 흩어 버리며 그들을 전멸시킬 때까지 칼로 그들을 추격할 것이다.'
  2. 전능하신 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '너희는 생각해 보고 제일 잘 우는 여자들을 불러
  3. 빨리 와서 너희를 위해 울게 하여 너희 눈에서 눈물이 쏟아지게 하라.
  4. 너희는 시온에서 들려오는 통곡소리를 들어 보아라. '우리는 망하였다! 우리가 크게 수치를 당하는구나. 우리 집들이 헐렸으니 우리 땅을 떠날 수밖에 없구나.'
  5. 자녀들아, 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 그의 말씀에 귀를 기울여라. 너희 딸들에게 곡하는 법을 가르치고 서로 애가를 가르쳐라.
  1. I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.
  2. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:
  3. And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
  4. For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
  5. Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.
  1. 죽음이 우리 창문으로 기어 들어오고 우리 궁전에 들어와서 거리에 있는 아이들과 광장에 있는 젊은이들의 생명을 끊어 버리려고 한다.
  2. 너는 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 외쳐라. '사람의 시체가 똥처럼 들에 흩어져, 추수하는 자의 뒤에 떨어져도 거두어들일 자가 없는 곡식단처럼 될 것이다.'
  3. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '지혜로운 자는 자기 지혜를 자랑하지 말고 강한 자는 자기 힘을 자랑하지 말며 부자는 자기의 부요함을 자랑하지 말아라.
  4. 자랑하는 사람은 나를 이해하고 아는 것과 그리고 내가 자비를 베풀며 옳고 공정한 일을 행하는 여호와임을 아는 것으로 자랑하라. 나는 이런 것을 기뻐한다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  5. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '포피를 베어 할례를 받은 자나 받지 못한 자를 내가 다 벌할 날이 올 것이다.
  1. For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.
  2. Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.
  3. Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
  4. But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
  5. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
  1. 이들은 이집트, 유다, 에돔, 암몬, 모압 사람들과 그리고 옆 머리를 잘라내고 광야에서 사는 사람들이다. 이방 민족들은 할례를 받지 못하였고 이스라엘 민족은 마음의 할례를 받지 못하였다.'
  1. Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
 
  참 하나님과 거짓 우상(10:1-10:25)    
 
  1. 이스라엘 백성들아, 여호와께서 너희에게 하시는 말씀을 들어라.
  2. 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '너희는 이방 민족의 길을 따르지 말아라. 이방 민족이 하늘의 징조를 보고 두려워하여도 너희는 두려워하지 말아라.
  3. 이방 나라의 풍습은 헛된 것이다. 그들은 숲에서 나무를 베어 목공의 도구로 다듬어서
  4. 거기에 은과 금으로 장식하고 그것을 못과 망치로 고정시킨다.
  5. 그들이 이렇게 해서 만든 우상은 들판의 허수아비처럼 말도 못하고 걸어다니지도 못하므로 사람이 운반해 주어야 한다. 너희는 그런 것을 두려워하지 말아라. 그것은 화를 주거나 복을 주지 못한다.'
  1. Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
  2. Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
  3. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
  4. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
  5. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
  1. 여호와여, 주와 같은 자가 없습니다. 주는 위대하시고 주의 이름 또한 놀랍습니다.
  2. 온 세계의 왕이시여, 주를 두려워하지 않을 자가 누구이겠습니까? 주를 두려운 마음으로 섬기는 것은 당연한 일입니다. 온 세상의 지혜로운 자들과 왕들 중에 주와 같은 자가 없습니다.
  3. 그들은 다 무식하고 어리석어서 우상의 가르침을 받으려고 하나 사실 우상은 나무에 불과합니다.
  4. 그들은 스페인에서 가져온 은과 우바스에서 가져온 금을 기능공들에게 주어 그것으로 우상을 꾸미고 청색 옷과 자색 옷을 만들어 입히게 했습니다.
  5. 그러나 여호와여, 주는 참 하나님이시며 살아 계신 하나님이시요 영원한 왕이십니다. 주께서 분노하시면 땅이 진동하고 온 세상이 견딜 수 없습니다.
  1. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
  2. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
  3. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
  4. Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
  5. But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
  1. 너희는 다른 신을 섬기는 자들에게 이렇게 말하라. '하늘과 땅을 만들지 않은 이 신들은 지상에서, 하늘 아래서 망할 것이다.'
  2. 여호와께서 그의 능력으로 땅을 지으셨고 지혜로 세계를 건설하셨으며 총명으로 하늘을 펼쳐 놓으셨다.
  3. 그가 큰 소리를 내시면 하늘의 물이 소용돌이 친다. 그는 지상에서 수증기를 증발하게 하시고 비와 함께 번개를 보내시며 그의 창고에서 바람을 일으키신다.
  4. 사람들이 다 어리석고 무식하구나. 우상을 만드는 금세공업자들이 수치를 당하지 않을 수 없으니 그들이 주조해서 만든 신상은 거짓되고 그 안에 생명이 없기 때문이다.
  5. 그것들은 다 무가치하고 경멸의 대상이므로 여호와께서 벌하실 때에 다 멸망할 것들이다.
  1. Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
  2. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
  3. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
  4. Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
  5. They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
  1. 야곱의 하나님은 그런 우상들과 같지 않다. 그는 모든 것을 창조하시고 이스라엘을 택하여 자기 백성으로 삼으신 분이시니 그의 이름은 전능하신 여호와이시다.
  2. 포위당한 자들아, 너희는 짐꾸러미를 꾸려라.
  3. 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다. '이번에는 내가 이 땅에 사는 자들을 내던지고 그들에게 큰 고통을 주어 깨닫게 하겠다.'
  4. 아아! 슬프다. 나의 상처여, 내가 심한 상처를 입었구나. 이것은 나의 고난이니 내가 참아야 하겠다.
  5. 나의 집이 파괴되고 그 모든 줄이 끊어졌으며 내 자녀들은 다 떠나고 없으니 내 집을 다시 세울 자가 없구나.
  1. The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
  2. Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
  3. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
  4. Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous; but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
  5. My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
  1. 목자들은 미련하여 여호와를 찾지 않으므로 패망하고 그들의 모든 양떼는 흩어져 버렸다.
  2. 들어라! 북쪽 땅에서 큰 소동이 일어나고 있다. 그것이 유다 성들을 황폐하게 하여 이리의 소굴이 되게 할 것이다.
  3. 여호와여, 내가 알기에는 사람이 자신의 운명을 다스릴 수가 없고 삶의 방향을 마음대로 조정할 수도 없습니다.
  4. 여호와여, 나를 꾸짖되 너그럽게 하시며 주의 분노로 나를 벌하지 마소서. 그렇지 않으면 내가 죽게 될지도 모릅니다.
  5. 주를 알지 못하는 나라와 주의 이름을 부르지 않는 민족에게 주의 분노를 쏟으소서. 그들은 주의 백성을 집어삼키고 그 땅을 황폐하게 하였습니다.
  1. For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
  2. Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
  3. O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
  4. O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
  5. Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
