아모스

  아모스가 활동할 당시의 북이스라엘은 경제적으로는 번영을 누렸으나 부정과 부패, 우상 숭배가 만연하였다. 이에 아모스는 하나님의 심판의 날을 선포하면서 백성들에게 공의를 행할 것과 하나님께 돌아올 것을 외쳤다.

  1장부터 2장까지는 유다를 포함한 이스라엘의 주변 7개 국가를 향한 심판의 메시지를 선포하고 있다. 그리고 3장부터 6장까지는 이스라엘에 임할 하나님의 심판의 불가피성을 밝힌 후, 심판을 피하는 길로 야웨 하나님을 찾고 공의를 행할 것을 외치고 있다. 7장부터 9장까지는 지금까지 예언한 이스라엘 멸망의 모습을 다섯 가지 환상을 통해 확인하면서 남은 자들의 회복과 메시아 왕국에 대한 하나님의 약속을 전하고 있다.

 

 

아모스 1:1-3:15

 아모스는 다메섹, 가사, 두로, 에돔, 암몬, 모압의 여섯 이방 나라와 남유다와 북이스라엘을 향해 하나님의 심판을 선포하였다. 이방 나라들은 서너 가지의 죄를 범했을 뿐 아니라 이스라엘을 대적했기에 하나님의 심판을 받게 되었다. 그리고 남유다는 야웨의 율법을 멸시하고 어긴 죄로, 북이스라엘은 사회적 불의와 우상 신전에서 가증한 짓을 행한 죄로 하나님의 심판을 받게 되었다.
  
  이방 나라의 심판(1:1-2:3)    
 
  1. 이것은 웃시야가 유다 왕으로, 여호아스의 아들 여로보암이 이스라엘의 왕으로 있을 당시, 지진이 나기 2년전에 드고아의 한 목자였던 아모스가 이스라엘에 대하여 계시받은 말씀이다.
  2. 아모스가 말하였다. '여호와께서 시온에서 부르짖으시며 예루살렘에서 큰 소리로 외치시니 목장의 풀이 마르고 갈멜산 꼭대기가 시들고 있다.'
  3. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '다마스커스의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그가 쇠막대기로 타작하듯 길르앗을 호되게 몰아쳤기 때문이다.
  4. 그러므로 내가 하사엘의 궁전에 불을 보내 벤-하닷의 요새들을 태울 것이다.
  5. 내가 다마스커스 성문을 부수고 아웬 골짜기에 사는 자를 죽이며 벧-에덴의 통치자를 제거하겠다. 시리아 백성은 길 땅으로 사로잡혀갈 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  1. The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
  2. And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
  3. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
  4. But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
  5. I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '가사에 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그가 한 민족을 송두리째 끌어다가 에돔에 종으로 팔았기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 가사성에 불을 보내 그 요새들을 태울 것이다.
  3. 내가 아스돗에 사는 자와 아스글론의 통치자를 제거하고 돌이켜 에그론을 치겠다. 살아남은 블레셋 사람들이 다 멸망할 것이다. 이것은 나 주 여호와의 말이다.'
  4. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '두로의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그가 형제의 계약을 무시하고 전쟁 포로가 된 한 민족을 송두리째 에돔에 종으로 팔았기 때문이다.
  5. 그러므로 내가 두로성에 불을 보내 그 요새들을 태울 것이다.'
  1. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
  2. But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
  3. And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
  4. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
  5. But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '에돔의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그가 칼로 그 형제를 추격하며 불쌍히 여기는 마음을 버리고 언제나 분노가 하늘에까지 치밀어 화가 그칠 날이 없기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 데만성에 불을 보내 보스라의 요새들을 태울 것이다.'
  3. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '암몬의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그가 자기 영토를 넓히려고 길르앗에 있는 임신부의 배를 갈랐기 때문이다.
  4. 그러므로 내가 랍바성에 불을 놓아 그 요새들을 태우겠다. 폭풍 속의 회오리바람처럼 전쟁의 함성이 있을 것이며
  5. 그 왕과 신하들은 사로잡혀갈 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  1. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
  2. But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
  3. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
  4. But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
  5. And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
 
 
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '모압의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그가 에돔왕의 뼈를 태워 횟가루로 만들었기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 모압 땅에 불을 보내 그리욧 요새들을 태우겠다. 병사들이 외치고 나팔을 부는 전쟁의 소란가운데 모압 백성이 죽을 것이다.
  3. 내가 또 모압의 통치자와 그 땅 모든 지도자들을 죽일 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  1. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:
  2. But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:
  3. And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.
 
  남유다와 북이스라엘의 심판(2:4-3:15)    
 
  1. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '유다의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그 백성이 나 여호와의 율법을 멸시하고 내 명령을 지키지 않으며 그들의 조상들이 섬기던 거짓 신들에게 미혹되었기 때문이다.
  2. 그러므로 내가 유다에 불을 보내 예루살렘의 요새들을 태울 것이다.'
  3. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '이스라엘의 서너 가지 죄에 대하여 내가 내 분노를 돌이키지 않겠다. 이것은 그 백성이 은을 위해 의로운 자를 팔고 신 한 켤레를 위해서 가난한 자를 팔며
  4. 힘 없는 자를 땅의 티끌처럼 짓밟고 겸손한 자를 무시하며 아버지와 아들이 한 창녀를 찾아다녀 나의 거룩한 이름을 더럽히고
  5. 그들이 모든 제단 곁에서 저당잡은 옷을 깔고 누우며 벌금으로 뺏은 포도주를 내 성전에서 마시기 때문이다.
  1. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:
  2. But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.
  3. Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;
  4. That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:
  5. And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
  1. 내가 아모리 사람을 그들 앞에서 멸망시켰다. 저들이 비록 백향목처럼 키가 크고 상수리나무처럼 강하였으나 내가 그 위의 열매와 그 아래의 뿌리를 잘라 버렸다.
  2. 내가 너희를 이집트에서 이끌어내어 40년 동안 광야에서 인도하였고 아모리 사람의 땅을 너희에게 주었으며
  3. 또 너희 아들들 중에서 예언자를, 너희 청년들 중에서 나실인을 일으켰다. 이스라엘 백성들아, 이것이 사실이 아니냐?
  4. 그러나 너희는 나실인에게 포도주를 마시게 하며 예언자에게 예언하지 말라고 명령하였다.
  5. 곡식단을 가득 실은 수레가 짐에 짓눌리듯이 내가 너희를 내리누를 것이다.
  1. Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
  2. Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
  3. And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.
  4. But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
  5. Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.
  1. 빨리 달리는 자도 피하지 못할 것이며 강한 자도 자기 힘을 낼 수 없고 용사도 자기 생명을 구하지 못할 것이다.
  2. 활을 가진 자도 설 수 없고 발이 빠른 자도 달아나지 못하며 말 타는 자도 자기 생명을 구하지 못하고
  3. 그 날에는 가장 용감한 병사도 무기를 팽개치고 맨몸으로 도망할 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
  1. Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:
  2. Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.
  3. And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.
 
 
  1. 이스라엘 백성들아, 여호와께서 너희에게 하시는 말씀을 들어라. 그가 이집트에서 인도해 낸 너희 모든 백성에게 이렇게 말씀하신다.
  2. '나는 땅의 모든 민족 중에서 너희만을 택하였다. 그러므로 내가 너희 모든 죄에 대하여 너희를 벌할 것이다.'
  3. 두 사람이 약속하지 않고 어떻게 함께 걸어갈 수 있겠느냐?
  4. 먹이가 없는데 사자가 어찌 숲속에서 부르짖겠으며 젊은 사자가 잡은 것이 없는데 어찌 굴에서 으르렁거리겠느냐?
  5. 덫을 놓지 않고서 새가 어떻게 잡히겠으며 아무것도 잡힌 것이 없는데 덫이 어떻게 땅에서 튀겠느냐?
  1. Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
  2. You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
  3. Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
  4. Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
  5. Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
  1. 성에서 전쟁의 나팔 소리가 나는데 백성이 어찌 두려워하지 않겠으며 여호와께서 보내시지 않았는데 어찌 성에 재앙이 밀어닥치겠느냐?
  2. 주 여호와께서는 자기 계획을 그의 종 예언자들에게 보이지 않고서는 아무것도 행하시지 않는다.
  3. 사자가 으르렁거리면 누가 두려워하지 않겠는가? 주 여호와께서 말씀하시면 누가 예언하지 않을 수 있겠는가?
  4. 아스돗과 이집트 궁전에 사는 자들에게 이렇게 선포하라. '너희는 사마리아의 여러 산에 모여서 이스라엘의 큰 혼란과 그 백성이 범죄하는 광경을 지켜보아라.'
  5. 주 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '남의 것을 강제로 빼앗고 약탈한 것으로 자기 저택을 채우는 자들이 옳은 일을 행할 줄 모른다.
  1. Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
  2. Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
  3. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
  4. Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.
  5. For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
  1. 그러므로 한 대적이 그들의 땅을 포위하고 그 경비망을 뚫고 들어가 그들의 저택을 약탈할 것이다.'
  2. 여호와께서 말씀하신다. '목자가 사자의 입에서 양의 두 다리나 귀 한쪽만 구해 내듯이 호화로운 침대 생활을 하는 사마리아 사람들 가운데서도 소수의 사람들만 구출될 것이다.'
  3. 전능하신 주 여호와 하나님이 말씀하신다. '너희는 듣고 야곱의 후손들에게 증거하라.
  4. 내가 이스라엘의 죄에 대하여 그를 벌하는 날이 벧엘의 단들을 헐어 버리겠다. 그 단의 뿔들이 꺾여 땅에 떨어질 것이다.
  5. 내가 또 겨울 집과 여름 집을 치겠다. 상아로 꾸민 집들이 무너질 것이며 큰 저택들이 완전히 파괴될 것이다.'
  1. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
  2. Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.
  3. Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,
  4. That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
  5. And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
