여호수아 10:1-10:43

 기브온 사람들이 이스라엘에 투항했다는 소식을 들은 가나안 남부 동맹군이 기브온을 응징하려 하자 기브온 사람들이 여호수아에게 도움을 청했다. 이에 여호수아는 군사들을 이끌고 야간 기습을 감행했고, 하나님께서는 이적을 베푸셔서 이스라엘이 적군을 도륙할 때까지 해가 중천에 머물게 하셨다. 이렇게 하여 이스라엘은 가나안 중부와 남부 지역을 함락시켰다.
  
  가나안 남부 점령(10:1-10:43)    
 
  1. 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱은 여호수아가 여리고와 그 왕에게 한 것처럼 아이성을 점령하여 그 왕과 백성을 전멸시킨 일과 또 기브온 사람들이 이스라엘과 화친하여 그들 가운데 살고 있다는 소식을 듣고 떨지 않을 수 없었다.
  2. 그가 이와 같이 크게 두려워한 것은 기브온은 왕이 통치하는 다른 성 못지 않게 큰 성으로서 아이성보다도 더 크고 군사력도 막강했기 때문이었다.
  3. 그래서 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱은 헤브론 왕 호함, 야르뭇 왕 비람, 라기스 왕 야비아, 에글론 왕 드빌에게 이런 전갈을 보냈다.
  4. '올라와서 나를 좀 도와 주시오. 우리가 기브온을 칩시다. 그들이 이스라엘 사람과 화친하였습니다.'
  5. 그래서 이 아모리 다섯 왕들은 연합 전선을 펴고 기브온을 포위하여 공격하였다.
  1. Now it came about when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai, and had utterly destroyed it (just as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were within their land,
  2. that he feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.
  3. Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent word to Hoham king of Hebron and to Piram king of Jarmuth and to Japhia king of Lachish and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
  4. "Come up to me and help me, and let us attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the sons of Israel."
  5. So the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon, gathered together and went up, they with all their armies, and camped by Gibeon and fought against it.
  1. 이때 기브온 사람들은 길갈에 머물고 있는 여호수아에게 다음과 같은 급한 전갈을 보냈다. '급히 올라와서 우리를 도와 구출해 주십시오. 산간 지대에 사는 모든 아모리 왕들이 단합하여 우리를 치고 있습니다.'
  2. 그래서 여호수아는 정예 부대를 포함한 모든 병력을 이끌고 길갈에서 출발하였다.
  3. 이때 여호와께서 여호수아에게 '그들을 두려워하지 말아라. 내가 이미 그들을 네 손에 넘겨 주었으니 그들 중에 너를 당해 낼 자가 한 사람도 없을 것이다.' 하고 말씀하셨다.
  4. 여호수아와 그의 군대는 길갈에서 밤새도록 행군하여 기브온까지 가서 아모리 사람들을 기습하였다.
  5. 그때 여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘 군 앞에서 크게 당황하게 하셨으므로 이스라엘 군은 기브온에서 그들을 수없이 죽이고 또 잔류병들을 벧-호론 고갯길과 아세가와 막게다까지 추격하며 쳤다.
  1. Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal, saying, "Do not abandon your servants; come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites that live in the hill country have assembled against us."
  2. So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the valiant warriors.
  3. The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands; not one of them shall stand before you."
  4. So Joshua came upon them suddenly by marching all night from Gilgal.
  5. And the LORD confounded them before Israel, and He slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.
  1. 아모리군이 이스라엘 군에게 쫓겨 벧-호론 고갯길을 도망쳐 내려갈 때 여호와께서는 그들이 아세가에 이르기까지 줄곧 하늘에서 큰 우박을 내려 그들을 죽이셨으므로 이스라엘 군의 칼에 죽은 자보다 우박에 죽은 자가 더 많았다.
  2. 여호와께서 아모리군을 패하게 하시고 이스라엘 군에게 승리를 주던 그 날에 여호수아는 이스라엘 백성이 보는 데서 여호와께 기도하고 이렇게 외쳤다. '태양아, 기브온 위에 머물러라! 달아, 너도 아얄론 골짜기에 머물러라!'
  3. 그러자 이스라엘 군이 그들의 원수를 다 쳐부술 때까지 해와 달은 각 자리에 머물러 있었다. 그래서 야살의 책에는 '태양이 중천에 머물러 거의 24시간 동안 그대로 있었다.'라고 기록되어 있다.
  4. 한 사람이 기도함으로 여호와께서 해와 달을 멈추신 이와 같은 날은 전에도 없었고 그 후에도 없었는데 이것은 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위해 싸우셨기 때문이었다.
  5. 그 후에 여호수아와 이스라엘 군은 길갈의 진영으로 돌아왔다.
  1. As they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon, the LORD threw large stones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died; there were more who died from the hailstones than those whom the sons of Israel killed with the sword.
  2. Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, "O sun, stand still at Gibeon, And O moon in the valley of Aijalon."
  3. So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, Until the nation avenged themselves of their enemies Is it not written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.
  4. There was no day like that before it or after it, when the LORD listened to the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel.
  5. Then Joshua and all Israel with him returned to the camp to Gilgal.
  1. 그러나 아모리족의 다섯 왕은 전쟁 도중에 도망하여 믹게다의 어느 굴에 숨어 있었다.
  2. 그런데 어떤 병사가 그들을 발견하고 그 사실을 여호수아에게 보고하였다.
  3. 그래서 그는 부하들에게 이렇게 명령하였다. '그 굴 입구에 큰 돌을 굴려 막고 경비병을 배치하여 그들을 철저히 지켜라.
  4. 또 일부 병력은 계속 적을 추격하여 후군을 공격하고 그들을 성으로 돌아가지 못하게 하라. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 그들을 이미 너희 손에 넘겨 주셨다.'
  5. 이스라엘 군이 계속 그들을 쳐죽이자 아모리족의 군대는 거의 전멸하다시피 하였고 겨우 몇 명만 살아 남아 간신히 자기들의 요새 성으로 도피하였다.
  1. Now these five kings had fled and hidden themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
  2. It was told Joshua, saying, "The five kings have been found hidden in the cave at Makkedah."
  3. Joshua said, "Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and assign men by it to guard them,
  4. but do not stay there yourselves; pursue your enemies and attack them in the rear. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand."
  5. It came about when Joshua and the sons of Israel had finished slaying them with a very great slaughter, until they were destroyed, and the survivors who remained of them had entered the fortified cities,
  1. 그래서 이스라엘 군은 한 사람의 희생자도 없이 막게다에 있는 그들의 진지로 무사히 돌아왔는데 감히 입을 놀려 이스라엘 군을 대적하는 자가 없었다.
  2. 여호수아는 굴 입구에 막은 돌을 굴려내고 그 다섯 왕을 끌어내 오라고 부하들에게 명령하였다.

  4. 여호수아 앞에 데려왔다. 그러자 여호수아는 모든 이스라엘 사람을 불러 놓고 자기와 함께 출전했던 지휘관들에게 그 왕들의 목을 발로 밟으라고 명령하였다. 그들이 와서 왕들의 목을 밟자
  5. 여호수아가 그들에게 말하였다. '두려워하거나 놀라지 마시오. 마음을 굳게 먹고 용기를 내시오. 여호와께서 우리를 대적하는 모든 원수들에게 이렇게 하실 것이오.'
  1. that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. No one uttered a word against any of the sons of Israel.
  2. Then Joshua said, "Open the mouth of the cave and bring these five kings out to me from the cave."
  3. They did so, and brought these five kings out to him from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
  4. When they brought these kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who had gone with him, "Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings." So they came near and put their feet on their necks.
  5. Joshua then said to them, "Do not fear or be dismayed! Be strong and courageous, for thus the LORD will do to all your enemies with whom you fight."
  1. 그리고서 여호수아는 그 왕들을 하나하나 칼로 찔러 죽인 다음 그 시체를 다섯 나무에 매달아 저녁때까지 그대로 두었다.
  2. 해질 무렵에 여호수아의 지시에 따라 그의 부하들은 시체들을 나무에서 내려 그들이 숨어 있던 굴에 던져 넣고 굴 입구를 큰 돌로 막았는데 그것이 오늘날까지 그대로 있다.
  3. 바로 그 날 여호수아는 막게다성을 점령하고 여리고 왕에게 한 것처럼 그 성 안에 있는 사람들을 하나도 남기지 않고 모조리 쳐죽였다.
  4. 이런 일이 있은 후에 여호수아와 그의 군대는 막게다를 떠나 립나로 가서 공격하였다.
  5. 여호와께서는 거기서도 그 성과 왕을 이스라엘 군의 손에 넘기셨으므로 그들은 여리고 왕에게 한 것처럼 그 성 안에 있는 사람들을 하나도 남기지 않고 모조리 쳐죽였다.
  1. So afterward Joshua struck them and put them to death, and he hanged them on five trees; and they hung on the trees until evening.
  2. It came about at sunset that Joshua gave a command, and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had hidden themselves, and put large stones over the mouth of the cave, to this very day.
  3. Now Joshua captured Makkedah on that day, and struck it and its king with the edge of the sword; he utterly destroyed it and every person who was in it He left no survivor Thus he did to the king of Makkedah just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
  4. Then Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Makkedah to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
  5. The LORD gave it also with its king into the hands of Israel, and he struck it and every person who was in it with the edge of the sword. He left no survivor in it. Thus he did to its king just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
  1. 그런 다음 여호수아와 그의 군대는 립나를 떠나 라기스로 가서 공격하였다.
  2. 여호와께서는 라기스도 이스라엘 군의 손에 넘겨 주셨으므로 그들은 공격 이틀 만에 그 성을 점령하고 립나에서처럼 성 안에 있는 모든 사람을 하나도 남기지 않고 다 쳐죽였다.
  3. 그때 게셀 왕 호람이 라기스를 도우러 올라왔으나 여호수아는 그와 그의 군대를 쳐서 전멸시켰다.
  4. 그 후에 여호수아는 이스라엘의 모든 병력을 이끌고 라기스를 떠나 에글론으로 가서 공격하였다.
  5. 그들은 바로 그 날 그 성을 점령하고 라기스에서처럼 그 곳 백성을 모조리 쳐죽였다.
  1. And Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Libnah to Lachish, and they camped by it and fought against it.
  2. The LORD gave Lachish into the hands of Israel; and he captured it on the second day, and struck it and every person who was in it with the edge of the sword, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
  3. Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish, and Joshua defeated him and his people until he had left him no survivor.
  4. And Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Lachish to Eglon, and they camped by it and fought against it.
  5. They captured it on that day and struck it with the edge of the sword; and he utterly destroyed that day every person who was in it, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
  1. 다음으로 여호수아는 이스라엘 군을 이끌고 에글론을 떠나 헤브론으로 올라가서 그 곳을 공격하여
  2. 그 성과 주변 부락들을 점령하고 에글론에서와 마찬가지로 왕과 그 백성을 하나도 남기지 않고 모조리 쳐죽였다.
  3. 그 다음 그들은 돌아와 드빌을 공격하여

  1. Then Joshua and all Israel with him went up from Eglon to Hebron, and they fought against it.
  2. They captured it and struck it and its king and all its cities and all the persons who were in it with the edge of the sword. He left no survivor, according to all that he had done to Eglon. And he utterly destroyed it and every person who was in it.
  3. Then Joshua and all Israel with him returned to Debir, and they fought against it.
  4. He captured it and its king and all its cities, and they struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed every person who was in it. He left no survivor. Just as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir and its king, as he had also done to Libnah and its king.
  5. Thus Joshua struck all the land, the hill country and the Negev and the lowland and the slopes and all their kings He left no survivor, but he utterly destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
  1. 또 여호수아는 여세를 몰아 남쪽 가데스-바네아에서부터 해안 지역의 가사까지와 그리고 고센 전 지역을 포함하여 북쪽의 기브온까지 쳐들어갔다.
  2. 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위해 싸우셨기 때문에 이스라엘 군은 단번에 그 모든 땅을 점령하고 왕과 그 백성을 전부 쳐죽였다.
  3. 그리고서 여호수아는 군대를 이끌고 길갈의 진영으로 되돌아왔다.
  1. Joshua struck them from Kadesh-barnea even as far as Gaza, and all the country of Goshen even as far as Gibeon.
  2. Joshua captured all these kings and their lands at one time, because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
  3. So Joshua and all Israel with him returned to the camp at Gilgal.
