- 여러분은 실속 없고 기만적인 철학에 사로잡히지 않도록 주의하십시오. 이것은 전통적으로 전해 내려오는 사람의 가르침이나 이 세상의 초보적인 원리에 근거한 것이지 그리스도에게 근거한 것이 아닙니다.
- 그리스도 안에는 온갖 신적 성품이 육체적인 형태로 나타나 있습니다.
- 그리고 여러분도 그리스도 안에서 완전해졌습니다. 그리스도는 모든 천사들의 머리가 되시는 분이십니다.
- 여러분은 사람의 손으로 베푼 할례를 받은 것이 아니라 육적인 죄의 몸을 벗어 버리는 그리스도의 할례를 받았습니다.
- 여러분은 세례를 받음으로 그리스도와 함께 땅에 묻혔고 또한 그리스도를 죽은 사람 가운데서 다시 살리신 하나님의 능력을 믿음으로 그분과 함께 다시 살아나게 된 것입니다.

- See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.
- For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
- and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
- and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
- having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

- 여러분도 전에는 죄와 할례받지 못한 육적인 욕망 때문에 영적으로 죽어 있었으나 하나님이 그리스도와 함께 여러분을 살리셨습니다. 하나님은 우리의 모든 죄를 용서해주시고
- 우리에게 불리한 율법의 채무증서를 십자가에 못박아 없애 버렸습니다.
- 그리고 그리스도께서는 사탄의 권세를 짓밟아 십자가로 승리하셔서 그것을 사람들에게 보여 주셨습니다.
- 그러므로 여러분은 먹고 마시는 것이나 명절이나 매월 초하루나 안식일에 관해서 아무도 여러분을 비판하지 못하게 하십시오.
- 이런 것들은 실체이신 그리스도를 가리키는 그림자에 불과합니다.

- When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
- having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
- When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.
- Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--
- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

- 일부러 겸손한 체하며 천사들을 숭배하는 사람들에게 속아서 여러분의 상을 빼앗기는 일이 없도록 하십시오. 그들은 자기들이 본 환상을 과장하며 헛된 생각으로 들떠 있습니다.
- 그들은 머리 되시는 그리스도에게 붙어 있지 않습니다. 온 몸은 이 머리를 통해 각 마디와 힘줄로 서로 연결되어 영양 공급을 받아서 하나님이 원하시는 대로 자라나는 것입니다.
- 여러분이 이 세상의 초보적 원리에 대해서 그리스도와 함께 죽었다면 어째서 세상에 속한 사람들처럼 '손대지 말아라! 맛보지 말아라! 만지지 말아라!'는 율법적 규정에 복종합니까?

- 이런 것은 사람의 계명과 가르침에 근거한 것입니다. 음식물은 먹는 대로 부패해지기 때문입니다.

- Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind,
- and not holding fast to the head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth which is from God.
- If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as,
- "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!"
- (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)--in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men?

- 이런 규정들은 제멋대로 만든 종교적 숭배나 거짓된 겸손이나 자기 몸을 괴롭히는 데는 지혜있는 것처럼 보이지만 육체의 정욕을 막는 데는 아무 효과가 없습니다.

- These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.
