열왕기하 13:1-14:29

 여호아하스와 요아스는 비록 바알 우상은 제거하였으나 여로보암이 만든 금송아지 우상 숭배에서는 벗어나지 못하므로써 아람군의 침입을 받는 징벌을 받았다. 아람의 압제하에 고통받는 이스라엘에 대해 엘리사는 하나님의 회복을 예언하고 운명했다. 한편 유다 왕 아마샤는 선정을 베풀며 강성해 갔으나 요아스에게 도전했다가 크게 패하고 신하들에 의해 피살되었다. 이스라엘 왕 여로보암 2세는 악정에도 불구하고 번영을 이루어 갔다.
  
  여호아하스와 요아스의 통치(13:1-13:25)    
 
  1. In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
  2. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
  3. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.
  4. And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
  5. (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
  1. 예후의 아들 여호아하즈가 이스라엘의 왕이 된 것은 유다 왕 아하지야의 아들 요아스 제이십삼년의 일이었다. 그는 사마리아에서 십칠 년 동안 다스렸다.
  2. 그는 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 정치를 폈다. 이스라엘을 죄에 빠뜨린 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄를 떨쳐버리지 않고 그 전철을 밟았던 것이다.
  3. 그리하여 야훼께서는 이스라엘에 분노를 터뜨리시어 이스라엘을 줄곧 시리아 왕 하자엘과 그의 아들 벤하닷의 손아귀에서 벗어나지 못하게 하셨다.
  4. 그런데 여호아하즈가 야훼께 용서를 빌었다. 야훼께서는 이스라엘이 시리아 왕에게 시달리며 고생하는 모양을 보시고 그의 기도를 들어주셨다.
  5. 야훼께서는 이스라엘을 구원할 사람을 내시어 시리아인들의 손아귀에서 건져내 주셨다. 그리하여 이스라엘 백성은 자기 집으로 돌아가 이전처럼 살게 되었다.
  1. Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)
  2. Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
  3. Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
  4. And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.
  5. In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.
  1. 그러나 이스라엘 백성은 이스라엘을 죄에 빠뜨린 여로보암 가문의 죄만은 떨쳐버리지 않고 그대로 살아갔다. 사마리아에는 아세라 목상이 그대로 남아 있었다.
  2. 야훼께서는 여호아하즈에게 겨우 기마병 오십 명, 병거 열 대, 보병 일만을 남겨주셨다. 나머지는 시리아 왕에게 발길에 채이는 먼지처럼 짓밟혔다.
  3. 여호아하즈가 용맹을 떨치며 어떤 일을 했는지 그 나머지 역사는 모두 이스라엘 왕조실록에 기록되어 있다.
  4. 여호아하즈는 세상을 떠나 선조들에게로 돌아가 사마리아에 안장되었고 그의 아들 여호아스가 뒤를 이어 왕위에 올랐다.
  5. 여호아하즈의 아들 여호아스가 이스라엘의 왕이 된 것은 유다 왕 요아스 제삼십칠년의 일이었다. 그는 사마리아에서 십육 년 동안 다스렸다.
  1. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.
  2. And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
  3. And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
  4. Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
  5. And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
  1. 그도 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 정치를 폈다. 이스라엘을 죄에 빠뜨린 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄를 떨쳐버리지 않고 그 전철을 밟았던 것이다.
  2. 여호아스가 유다 왕 아마지야와 싸우며 용맹을 떨친 일과 그 밖의 나머지 역사는 이스라엘 왕조실록에 기록되어 있다.
  3. 여호아스는 세상을 떠나 선조들에게로 돌아가 사마리아에 있는 왕실 묘지에 안장되었고 그의 뒤를 이어 여로보암이 왕위에 올랐다.
  4. 엘리사가 죽을 병이 들자 이스라엘 왕 여호아스는 엘리사가 있는 곳으로 내려와서 얼굴을 비비며 통곡하였다. 그가 "나의 아버지, 나의 아버지! 이스라엘을 지키던 병거여, 기병이여...." 하고 외치자
  5. 엘리사가 왕에게 말하였다. "활과 화살을 가져오십시오." 왕이 활과 화살을 가져오자,
  1. And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
  2. And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
  3. And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
  4. And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
  5. And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
  1. "화살을 메워 당기십시오." 하고 말하였다. 왕이 활을 당기자 엘리사는 자기의 손을 왕의 손에 얹고
  2. "동녘 창을 여십시오." 하고 말하였다. 창을 열자 엘리사가 말하였다. "쏘십시오." 왕이 활을 쏘았다. 그러자 엘리사가 "그 화살로 야훼께서 승리하실 것입니다. 그 화살로 시리아를 쳐 이기실 것입니다. 임금님께서는 아벡에서 시리아 군을 여지없이 쳐부수실 것입니다." 하고 말하였다.
  3. 엘리사는 또다시 왕에게 화살을 잡으라고 하였다. 왕이 화살을 잡자, 그 화살로 땅을 치라고 하였다. 왕은 땅을 세 번 치고 그쳤다.
  4. 그러자 하느님의 사람이 왕에게 화를 내며 말하였다. "임금님께서 대여섯 번 쳤으면, 시리아 군을 여지없이 쳐부수셨을 터인데, 세 번만 쳤으니 시리아 군을 세 번밖에는 쳐부수지 못하겠습니다."
  5. 이 말을 하고 엘리사는 숨을 거두어 안장되었다. 그즈음 모압 강도떼가 해마다 이스라엘 영토 안으로 쳐들어왔는데,
  1. And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
  2. But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
  3. And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
  4. So Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his stead.
  5. And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.
  1. 한번은 어떤 사람들이 시체를 묻으려다가 그 강도떼들을 만나 시체를 엘리사의 무덤 속에 던지고 달아났다. 그런데 그 시체가 엘리사의 뼈에 닿자 다시 살아나서 일어섰다.
  2. 시리아 왕 하자엘은 여호아하즈가 다스리는 동안 내내 이스라엘을 괴롭혔다.
  3. 야훼께서는 이스라엘 백성을 불쌍하게 여기시어 자비를 베푸셨다. 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱과 더불어 맺으신 계약을 생각하시어 당신 백성에게로 마음을 돌리셨던 것이다. 그들을 아직은 멸망시키실 마음이 없으셨으므로 당신 앞에서 쫓아내지 않으셨다.
  4. 시리아 왕 하자엘이 죽자 그의 아들 벤하닷이 뒤를 이어 왕위에 올랐다.
  5. 그 틈을 타서 여호아스는 선왕 여호아하즈가 하자엘에게 전쟁 중에 빼앗겼던 성읍들을 그의 아들 벤하닷의 손에서 탈환하였다. 여호아스는 벤하닷을 세 번 쳐서 무찌르고 이스라엘의 성읍들을 탈환하였다.
 
  아마샤와 여로보암의 통치(14:1-14:29)    
 
  1. In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
  2. He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
  3. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
  4. Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
  5. And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
  1. 요아스의 아들 아마지야가 유다 왕이 된 것은 이스라엘 왕 여호아하즈의 아들 여호아스 제이년의 일이었다.
  2. 그는 이십오 세에 왕위에 올라 예루살렘에서 이십구 년간 다스렸다. 그의 어머니는 예루살렘 출신으로 이름을 여호아띤이라 하였다.
  3. 그는 야훼께서 기뻐하실 일을 하고 부왕 요아스에 못지않게 야훼의 눈에 드는 바른 정치를 폈지만, 선조 다윗과 같지는 못하였다.
  4. 산당을 철거하지 않아서 백성들이 여전히 산당에서 희생제를 드리고 향을 피웠던 것이다.
  5. 그는 왕권이 튼튼하게 되자 부왕을 죽인 신하들을 처형하였다.
  1. But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
  2. He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
  3. Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
  4. And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
  5. Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
  1. 그러나 그 살인자들의 자손들은 죽이지 않았다. 그는 모세의 법전에 기록되어 있는 야훼의 명령을 따랐던 것이다. "자식의 잘못 때문에 아비를 죽이지 못하고 아비의 잘못 때문에 자식을 죽이지 못한다. 죽을 사람은 죄지은 바로 그 사람이다."
  2. 소금골짜기에서 에돔 군 일만을 무찌르고 셀라를 점령한 장본인이 바로 그였다. 그는 그 곳을 욕드엘이라 불렀는데 아직도 그렇게 불리고 있다.
  3. 그 무렵 아마지야가 예후의 손자이며 여호아하즈의 아들인 이스라엘 왕 여호아스에게 사람을 보내어 싸움을 걸었다.
  4. 그러나 이스라엘 왕 여호아스는 유다 왕 아마지야에게 다음과 같은 회신을 보냈다. "레바논의 가시나무가 레바논의 송백에게 딸을 며느리로 달라고 청혼하였다가 지나가던 레바논의 들짐승에게 짓밟히는 신세가 되었다.
  5. 그대는 에돔을 쳐 이겼다고 하여 목에 힘을 주고 우쭐거리는데, 혼자 집 안에 머물러 있어라. 어찌하여 그대의 신세와 유다의 운명을 망치려고 스스로 설치는가?"
  1. But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
  2. And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
  3. And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
  4. And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
  5. Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
  1. 그러나 아마지야는 그 말을 들으려 하지 않았다. 그리하여 이스라엘 왕 여호아스는 군대를 이끌고 쳐들어와 유다의 영토인 벳세메스에서 유다 왕 아마지야와 맞붙었다.
  2. 유다 군은 이스라엘 군에게 패하여 제각기 자기 집으로 도망쳤다.
  3. 이스라엘 왕 여호아스는 아하지야의 손자이며 요아스의 아들인 유다 왕 아마지야를 벳세메스에서 사로잡았으며, 예루살렘에 이르러 에브라임 성문과 모퉁이 성문 사이의 성벽을 사백 척이나 헐었다.
  4. 그는 야훼의 전과 왕실 금고에 있는 금은과 세간을 닥치는 대로 다 털고 또 사람들을 볼모로 잡아가지고 사마리아로 돌아갔다.
  5. 여호아스의 나머지 업적과 그의 치적 및 공적, 유다 왕 아마지야와의 전쟁에 관한 것은 이스라엘 왕조실록에 기록되어 있다.
  1. And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
  2. And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
  3. And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
  4. Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
  5. And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
  1. 여호아스는 숨을 거두어 사마리아에 있는 왕실 묘지에 매장되었다. 그의 아들 여로보암이 왕위를 계승하였다.
  2. 유다 왕 요아스의 아들 아마지야는 이스라엘 왕 여호아하즈의 아들 여호아스보다 십오 년을 더 살았다.
  3. 아마지야의 나머지 역사는 유다 왕조실록에 기록되어 있다.
  4. 예루살렘에서 반란이 일어나자 아마지야는 라기스로 도망하였다. 그러나 반란군은 라기스까지 쫓아가 그를 죽였다.
  5. 그러나 그의 시체만은 말에 실어 예루살렘으로 모셔다가 다윗 성에 있는 왕실 묘지에 안장시켰다.
  1. And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
  2. He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
  3. In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
  4. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
  5. He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.
  1. 온 유다 백성이 나이 십육 세인 우찌야를 택하여 부왕 아마지야를 대신하여 왕으로 삼았다.
  2. 왕이 세상을 떠나 선조들에게 돌아간 다음 엘랏을 찾아 유다의 한 성으로 재건한 장본인이 우찌야다.
  3. 여호아스의 아들 여로보암이 이스라엘의 왕이 된 것은 유다 왕 요아스의 아들 아마지야 제십오년의 일이었다. 그는 사마리아에서 사십일 년간 다스렸다.
  4. 그는 야훼께서 보시기에 악한 일을 행하였다. 이스라엘 백성을 죄에 빠뜨렸던 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄를 떠나지 않고 그 악습을 그대로 답습하였다.
  5. 하맛 어귀로부터 아라바 해에 이르는 이스라엘 영토를 되찾은 것은 그였다. 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 당신의 종인 예언자 요나를 시켜 하신 말씀이 이렇게 이루어졌다. 요나는 갓헤벨 출신으로서 아미때라는 사람의 아들이었다.
  1. For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
  2. And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
  3. Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
  4. And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
  1. 이스라엘의 고생이 막심한 것을 야훼께서 눈여겨보셨던 것이다. 이스라엘 백성은 종이나 자유인이나 할 것 없이 고생하고 있으며 도와줄 이도 없었다.
  2. 야훼께서는 이스라엘의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 지워버리지 않기로 하시고 요아스의 아들 여로보암을 시켜 이스라엘을 구원하셨다.
  3. 여로보암의 나머지 업적과 그의 치적, 공적 그리고 그가 치른 전쟁 및 유다에 빼앗겼던 다마스쿠스와 하맛을 탈환한 것 등은 모두 이스라엘 왕조실록에 기록되어 있다.
  4. 여로보암이 선조들과 함께 잠들어 이스라엘의 역대 왕들 곁에 안장되자 그의 아들 즈가리야가 왕위를 계승하였다.
