예레미야 3:1-4:31

 하나님께서는 하나님을 떠나 우상을 숭배한 유다가 회개하고 돌아오면 그들을 용서하시고 복 주시겠다고 말씀하셨다. 그러나 유다는 이를 거부하고 회개하지 않아 하나님의 재앙을 초래하였다. 예레미야는 묵시를 통해, 임박한 재앙의 모습을 보고 슬퍼하였다.
  
  회개 촉구(3:1-3:25)    
 
  1. They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
  2. Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
  3. Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore's forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.
  4. Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
  5. Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
  1. 남편에게 소박맞은 아내가 다른 사나이를 찾아갔으면, 본남편이 그 여자를 다시 아내로 맞을 수 없는 법이다. 그랬다가는 이 땅이 부정을 탄다. 그런데 너는 수많은 정부와 놀아나고서 나에게 돌아오겠다니, 될 법이나 하느냐? 이는 내 말이니 잘 들어라.
  2. 벗겨진 산 위를 쳐다보아라. 네가 놀아나느라고 몸을 더럽히지 않은 곳이 어디 있느냐? 사막에 숨어 있는 아랍인들처럼 너는 한길 가에 앉아 정부들을 기다렸다. 네가 음란을 피우며 사악하게 구는 바람에
  3. 이 땅은 부정을 타서 소나기가 멎고, 봄비도 내리지 않게 되었다. 이마가 뻔뻔스런 창녀처럼, 너는 부끄러운 줄도 모르고
  4. 지금도 나를 아비라고 부르기도 하고 젊은 날의 애인이라고 부르기도 하며,
  5. '아무렴, 끝없이 화를 내시지는 않을 거야, 언제까지나 진노하시지는 않을 거야.' 이런 말을 하면서 못하는 짓이 없었다."
  1. The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.
  2. And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
  3. And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
  4. And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
  5. And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.
  1. 요시야 왕 시절에 야훼께서 나에게 이렇게 이르셨다. "이스라엘이 나를 배반하고 무슨 짓을 하였는지 너는 보았다. 높은 산마다 올라가고, 무성한 나무 밑마다 찾아가서 음란을 피우지 않더냐?
  2. 그런 짓을 실컷 하고 나면 행여 나에게 다시 돌아올까 하였지만, 끝내 돌아오지 않고 말았다. 그 아우 유다도 똑같은 화냥년으로, 언니가 하는 짓을 모두 보았다.
  3. 나를 배반하고 놀아났다가 이혼장을 받아 쥐고 내쫓기는 것도 보았다. 그러고서도 겁 없이 배신하고 나가서 저도 음란을 피웠다.
  4. 돌과 나무를 섬기며 음란을 피워 땅을 더럽혔다.
  5. 샛서방을 보며 마음껏 바람을 피우고 나서는 나에게 돌아오는 체만 하고, 진심으로 돌아오지 않았다. 똑똑히 들어라."
  1. And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
  2. Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.
  3. Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
  4. Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
  5. And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
  1. 야훼께서 나에게 또 이르셨다. "이스라엘도 배반은 하였지만, 본심은 화냥년인 유다보다는 낫다.
  2. 그러니 너는 북녘으로 가서 이렇게 외쳐라. '나를 배반하였던 이스라엘아, 돌아오너라. 똑똑히 들어라. 나는 마음이 모질지 못하여 너희에게 무서운 얼굴을 못하겠구나. 똑똑히 들어라. 아무리 화가 나도 그 마음을 언제까지나 지니지는 못하겠구나.
  3. 이 야훼가 너희 하느님이 아니냐? 그런데 너희는 거역하기만 하고 못할 짓만 하였다. 나의 말을 듣지 아니하고 남의 나라 신들을 찾아 무성한 나무 밑을 이리저리 쏘다니며 그 얼마나 못할 짓을 하였더냐? 똑똑히 들어라.
  4. 나를 배반하고 떠나갔던 자들아 돌아오너라. 똑똑히 들어라. 내가 너희의 가장이다. 나는 너희 가운데서 성마다 한 사람씩, 갈래마다 두 사람씩 뽑아 시온으로 데려오고
  5. 내 마음에 드는 목자들을 세워주겠다. 그러면 그 목자들은 알아서 너희를 잘 기를 것이다.
  1. And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
  2. At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.
  3. In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
  4. But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.
  5. Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.
  1. 그 날이 오면 너희는 이 땅에서 불어나 번성하리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다. 그 때 다시는 야훼의 계약궤를 말할 필요도 없을 것이며, 마음에 두고 생각할 필요도 없게 되리라. 아쉬워 찾거나 새로 만들 필요도 없으리라.
  2. 그 때 사람들은 예루살렘을 야훼의 옥좌라 부를 것이며 모든 민족이 예루살렘에 모여와 나의 이름 야훼를 불러 예배할 것이다. 그리고 다시는 그릇된 생각에 끌려가지 아니하리라.
  3. 그 날이 오면 유다 가문과 이스라엘 가문이 한 덩어리가 되어 북녘 땅을 떠나, 조상들이 나에게서 유산으로 받았던 땅에 함께 들어오리라.
  4. 나는 너를 아들로 삼아 기름진 땅을 주고 싶었다. 뭇 민족 가운데서도 너에게 가장 아름다운 유산을 주고 싶었다. 나를 아비라 부르며 행여 나를 떠나지 않기를 바랐다.
  5. 그런데 애인을 배신하는 여인처럼 너 이스라엘 가문은 나를 배신하였다. 똑똑히 들어라.'"
  1. A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.
  2. Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.
  3. Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.
  4. For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
  5. We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
  1. 이 언덕 저 언덕에서 소리가 들려온다. 이스라엘 백성이 저희 하느님 야훼를 잊고 탈선하였다가 울며 애원하는 소리다.
  2. "배반한 자식들아, 돌아오너라. 너희의 마음을 바로잡아 나를 배반하지 않게 하여주리라." "우리가 지금 야훼께 돌아갑니다. 우리 하느님은 야훼뿐이십니다.
  3. 언덕 위의 산당들은 모두가 헛된 것이었습니다. 이 산 저 산에서 수선을 떨어보았지만 모두 헛된 일이었습니다. 우리 하느님 야훼밖에 이스라엘을 건져주실 분은 없사옵니다.
  4. 그런데 조상들이 애써 얻은 것을 일찍부터 우리는 바알에게 바쳤습니다. 소떼와 양떼와 아들딸까지 바쳤습니다." "우리가 선조 때부터 이 날까지 하느님 야훼의 말씀을 듣지 않았고 우리 하느님 야훼께 죄를 지었구나.
  5. 이제 다같이 부끄러운 몸, 엎드리자. 창피한 줄 알아 얼굴을 가리자."
 
  재난 예고(4:1-4:31)    
 
  1. If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
  2. And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
  3. For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
  4. Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
  5. Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
  1. "이스라엘아, 돌아오고 싶거든, 어서 나에게 돌아오너라. 내가 똑똑히 일러둔다. 서슴지 말고 그 망측한 우상을 내 앞에서 치워버려라.
  2. 그리하면 너희는 나를 두고 맹세할 수 있고, 내가 맹세한 것은 진실하여 남을 억울하게 하는 일이 없으리라. 그리하여 뭇 민족이 너의 덕을 입고 너를 찬양하게 되리라.
  3. 이제 나 야훼가 유다 국민, 예루살렘 시민에게 말한다. 엉겅퀴 속에 씨를 뿌리지 말고 땅을 새로 갈아엎고 심어라.
  4. 유다 국민들아, 예루살렘 시민들아, 할례를 받아 나에게 몸을 바쳐라. 마음에 수술을 받아라. 그렇지 않으면 너희의 사악한 행실을 보고 화를 내어 불처럼 너희를 태우리니, 그 불을 꺼줄 사람이 없으리라.
  5. 유다에 소식이나 보내려무나. 예루살렘에 전갈이나 보내려무나. '다들 모여라, 방비된 성읍들에 들어가자.' 하며 나팔을 불어 온 나라에 경보를 울려보려무나.
  1. Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
  2. The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
  3. For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
  4. And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
  5. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
  1. '시온으로 가는 길에 깃발을 꽂아 지체 말고 다들 피난하라.'고 하여보려무나. 북녘에서 재앙이 밀어닥친다. 대살육이 임박하였다. 내가 그렇게 하기로 작정하였다.
  2. 뭇 민족을 멸망시키러 사자가 수풀에서 뛰쳐나온다. 온 세상을 끔찍스런 곳으로 만들려고 사자가 있던 데서 뛰쳐나온다. 너희의 성읍들은 헐려 무인지경이 될 것이다.
  3. '야훼께서 우리가 한 일을 괘씸히 여기시어 진노를 거두지 않으셨구나!' 하며 상복을 입고 초상 치르듯이 울부짖게 되리라.
  4. 내가 똑똑히 일러둔다. 그 날이 오면, 왕도 고관들도 넋을 잃을 것이다. 사제들은 정신을 잃고 예언자들은 얼빠진 사람이 되리라."
  5. 이 말씀에 나는 항의하였다. "주 야훼여, 당신이 이 예루살렘 백성을 속이시다니. 꼼짝 못하게 속여 넘기시다니. 칼이 목에 닿았는데도 잘되어 간다고 하시지 않으셨습니까?"
  1. At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
  2. Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
  3. Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
  4. O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
  5. For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.
  1. "그 때가 오면, 이 백성에게, 그리고 예루살렘에게 나는 이런 말을 일러주리라. 삭막한 땅 사막에서 열풍이 불어와 내 땅 내 백성을 덮칠 것이다. 낟알을 말끔히 키질하여 주려고 불어오는 것이 아니다.
  2. 너무 거세어 키질할 수 없는 바람이 나의 말 한마디에 불어닥칠 것이다. 나도 이제는 결판을 내야겠다."
  3. "원수가 먹구름처럼 밀려옵니다. 병거가 폭풍처럼 휩쓸어오고 기마가 독수리보다 빠르게 덮쳐옵니다. 어찌하면 좋습니까? 우리는 이제 모두 망하였습니다."
  4. "예루살렘아, 살고 싶거든 못된 그 마음을 깨끗이 씻어라. 쓸데없는 생각을 언제까지 품고 있으려느냐?
  5. 단에서 전령이 달려온다. 에브라임 산악 지대에서 흉보가 날아든다.
  1. Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
  2. As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
  3. Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
  4. My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
  5. Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.
  1. 예루살렘이 풍전등화처럼 되었다. 이 소식을 만방에 알려라. '먼 곳에서 원수들이 밀려와 유다 성읍들을 공격하느라고 야단들이다.
  2. 내가 똑똑히 일러둔다. 예루살렘은 독 안에 든 쥐가 되었다. 예루살렘은 나를 거역하다가 이 꼴이 되었다.
  3. 그런 못할 짓을 하다가 이 꼴이 되었다. 가슴에 칼이 꽂히는 이 아픔은 너의 죄 때문이다.'"
  4. "아이고 배야. 배가 아파 죽겠습니다. 가슴이 떨리고 염통이 터집니다. 나팔 소리 나고 싸움터에서 아우성 소리 들려와 잠자코 있을 수가 없습니다.
  5. 성이 하나하나 떨어져 온 나라가 망하여 갑니다. 갑자기 저의 천막은 쓰러지고 포장은 갈기갈기 찢겼습니다.
  1. How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
  2. For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
  3. I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
  4. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
  5. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
  1. 언제까지 저 깃발 날리는 것을 보아야 하고, 나팔 소리 또한 들어야 합니까?"
  2. "내 백성은 참으로 어리석구나. 이렇게도 나의 속을 모르다니. 미련한 자식들. 철없는 것들. 나쁜 일 하는 데는 명석한데 좋은 일은 할 생각조차 없구나."
  3. "땅을 내려다보니 끝없이 거칠고 하늘을 쳐다보니 깜깜합니다.
  4. 산을 바라보니 사뭇 뒤흔들리고 모든 언덕은 떨고 있습니다.
  5. 아무리 돌아봐도 사람 하나 없고, 하늘에 나는 새도 모두 날아갔습니다.
  1. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
  2. For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
  3. For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
  4. The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
  5. And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
  1. 아무리 둘러봐도 옥토는 사막이 되었고, 모든 성읍은 허물어져, 야훼의 노여움에 불타 모조리 사라졌습니다.
  2. '온 세상은 잿더미가 될 것이다. 나는 세상을 멸망시키기로 하였다.' 하시더니, 마침내 야훼 말씀대로 되고 말았습니다.
  3. '위로 하늘은 상복이나 입고 아래로 땅은 애곡이나 하여라.' 하시더니, '나는 한번 말하였으면 그대로 하고야 만다. 한번 결심한 것은 돌이키지 않는다.' 하시더니, 기어이 그대로 하셨습니다.
  4. 기병들과 궁수들이 고함치는 바람에 사람들이 모든 성에서 나와 도망칩니다. 우거진 숲으로 들어가고 바윗굴로 올라갑니다. 모든 성읍에서 사람이 떠나, 그림자 하나 얼씬거리지 않게 되었습니다."
  5. "예루살렘아, 모조리 헐릴 이 마당에, 붉은 비단옷이 다 무엇이냐? 금패물이 다 무엇이냐? 눈 화장은 또 무엇이냐? 아무리 곱게 꾸며도 쓸데없다. 너에게 반했던 자들이 도리어 발길질하며 너를 죽이려고 달려드는데,
  1. For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
  1. 몸푸는 여인이 소리지르듯 첫아기 낳는 여인이 괴로워하듯 몸부림치는 소리가 들리는구나. 나의 딸 시온이 손을 내두르며, 헐떡이는 소리가 들린다. '이제 모두 죽었구나. 맞아 죽을 판인데 손가락 하나 까딱할 힘이 없네.'"
