예레미야 9:1-10:25

 유다 멸망에 대한 애곡의 분위기가 극도로 고조된 가운데 예레미야는 하나님의 공의를 들어 징계의 불가피성을 밝혔고, 유다를 멸망케 한 우상 숭배의 실상을 간파하였다. 그는 하나님께서는 창조주로서 능력의 근원이 되시며 인생의 화복을 주관하시는 분이심에 비해, 인간에 의해 만들어진 우상은 무능할 뿐임을 공포하였다.
  
  배반한 유다의 참상(9:1-9:26)    
 
  1. Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
  2. Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
  3. And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.
  4. Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
  5. And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.
  1. "사막에 머물 만한 으슥한 데라도 있다면 내 백성을 버리고 그리로 떠나가련만, 나를 배신하고, 간음하는 무리들,
  2. 한번 혀를 놀렸다 하면 남의 가슴에 칼을 꽂는구나. 신실은 스러지고 거짓만이 판치는 세상이 되었다. 내 속생각을 모르고 못된 일만 골라서 하는 세상이 되었다. 야훼의 말이다.
  3. 친구도 조심하여야 할 세상, 동기마저 믿지 못할 세상이 되었다. 동기들끼리 서로 걸어 넘어뜨리고 친구들끼리 서로 모함하며 돌아치는 세상이 되었다.
  4. 참말이라고는 할 줄 모르는 세상, 서로 속고 서로 속이니, 거짓말만이 입에 익어 돌이킬 길 없이 입이 비뚤어진 세상이 되었다.
  5. 백성을 억누르는 일이 계속되고 사기치는 일만이 꼬리를 무는 세상이 되었다. 내 말이니, 잘 들어라. 내 심정을 알려는 자 하나 없구나.
  1. Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.
  2. Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
  3. Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.
  4. Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
  5. For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
  1. 그래서 나 만군의 야훼는 이렇게 말한다. 나의 이 백성을 도가니 속에서 녹여 시험하여 보리라. 그렇게 못되게 구는데, 어찌 그냥 내버려두겠느냐?
  2. 독약 묻은 활촉 같은 혀를 놀리는 것들, 입에 담는 것은 남을 속이는 말뿐이다. 이웃을 보고 '안녕하시오?' 하면서 속으로는 올가미를 씌우는 것들,
  3. 이렇게 못되게 구는데, 어찌 벌하지 않고 내버려두겠느냐? 내 말이니, 잘 들어라. 이런 족속을, 내가 어찌 분풀이하지 않고 내버려두겠느냐?"
  4. "이 산 저 산을 보며 저는 목이 메어 웁니다. 광야에 있는 목장들을 보며 슬피 웁니다. 모두 타 없어져 찾는 이 없고, 양떼 울음 소리도 들려오지 않습니다. 날짐승도 들짐승도, 모두 자취를 감추었습니다."
  5. "나는 예루살렘도 돌무더기로 만들어 여우의 소굴로 만들리라. 유다의 성읍들을 쑥밭으로 만들어 아무도 살지 못하게 하리라."
  1. And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.
  2. Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
  3. And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
  4. But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:
  5. Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
  1. "지혜 있는 사람은 하나도 없습니다. 어찌하여 이런 변을 당하게 되었는지 알 만한 사람도 하나 없습니다. 어찌하여 이 나라가 망하게 되었는지, 모조리 타서 사람의 그림자도 얼씬하지 않는 사막이 되게 되었는지, 말씀해 주셔야 나가서 전할 수 있지 않겠습니까?"
  2. 야훼의 대답은 이러하였다. "이 백성이 내가 내려준 법을 저버리고 내 말을 듣지도 않았으며 그대로 살지도 않았기 때문이다.
  3. 악한 생각에 끌려, 조상들에게 배운 대로 바알을 따라 살았기 때문이다.
  4. 그래서 나 만군의 야훼는 이스라엘의 하느님으로서 선언한다. 나는 이 백성에게 소태를 먹이고 독약을 마시게 하리라.
  5. 이 민족을 쫓아내어 조상 때부터 알지 못하던 민족들 가운데 흩어져 살다가 칼에 맞아 멸종되게 하리라.
  1. I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.
  2. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:
  3. And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
  4. For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.
  5. Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.
  1. 나 만군의 야훼가 이른다. 곡하는 여인들을 어서 불러오너라. 넋두리 잘하는 여자들을 불러 부탁하여라.
  2. '지체 말고 구슬픈 노래를 불러주오. 눈에서 눈물이 쏟아지고 눈시울에 눈물이 방울져 내리도록!'
  3. 구슬픈 노랫가락이 시온에서 들려온다. '어쩌다가 우리는 이렇게 망하였는가? 정든 고향에서 쫓겨나 나라를 버리고 떠나야 하는 이 신세, 부끄러워라, 부끄러워라!'
  4. 너희 여인들은 야훼의 말을 들어라. 나의 말에 귀를 기울여라. 구슬픈 노래를 딸들에게 가르쳐라. 이런 넋두리를 함께 익혀라.
  5. '죽음이 창을 넘어 들어왔네. 궁전에까지 들어왔네. 거리에서 놀던 아이들을 모두 잡아갔다네. 장터를 거닐던 젊은이들을 모두 끌어갔다네.
  1. For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.
  2. Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.
  3. Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
  4. But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
  5. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
  1. 시체들은 밭에 너저분히 널려 있는 거름더미와 같구나. 추수하는 자가 곡식단을 묶어놓고 지나가는데도 거두어 모으는 자 없는 것 같구나.'
  2. 나 야훼가 이렇게 말한다. 현자는 지혜를 자랑하지 마라. 용사는 힘을 자랑하지 마라. 부자는 돈을 자랑하지 마라.
  3. 자랑할 것이 있다면, 그것은 나의 뜻을 깨치고 사랑과 법과 정의를 세상에 펴는 일이다. 이것이 내가 기뻐하는 일이다. 야훼의 말이다.
  4. 할례를 받기는 하였으나 고작 포경이나 잘라낸 사람을 모두 벌할 날이 다가왔다. 내 말이니 잘 들어라.
  5. 이집트, 유다, 에돔, 암몬, 모압 사람들과 구레나룻을 깎고 사막에서 사는 종족들이 모두 벌을 받으리라. 이 모든 민족들은 이스라엘 온 가문과 함께 마음에 수술을 받지 않았기 때문이다."
  1. Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
 
  참 하나님과 거짓 우상(10:1-10:25)    
 
  1. Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
  2. Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
  3. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
  4. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
  5. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
  1. 이스라엘 문중아, 야훼께서 너희에게 이르시는 말씀을 들어라.
  2. "나 야훼가 말한다. 다른 민족들의 생활 태도를 배우지 마라. 다른 민족들이 보고 떠는 하늘의 조짐을 보고 떨지 마라.
  3. 다른 나라 사람들이 보고 떠는 것은 장승에 지나지 않는다. 숲에서 나무 하나 베어다가 목수가 자귀질해서 만들고
  4. 금은으로 장식한 것에 지나지 않는다. 망치로 못을 박아야 겨우 서 있는 것,
  5. 참외밭의 허수아비처럼 말도 못하는 것, 어디 가려면 남의 신세를 져야 하는 것, 사람에게 복을 내리지도 못하고 그렇다고 앙화를 내리지도 못하는 것, 그런 것을 두려워 마라."
  1. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
  2. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
  3. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
  4. Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
  5. But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
  1. "야훼 같으신 분은 없습니다. 야훼께서는 위대하시어 그 높으신 이름 마냥 위력을 떨치십니다.
  2. 그 누가 야훼를 두려워하지 않겠습니까? 만민의 왕이시여, 그것은 너무나도 당연한 일, 세계 만방 모든 민족 가운데 누가 야훼만큼 지혜롭겠습니까?
  3. 사람들은 하나같이 우둔하고 미련하여 나무로 만든 장승에게 가르침을 받습니다.
  4. 다르싯에서는 늘인 은을, 오빌에서는 금을 수입하여다가 은장이의 손을 빌려 만들고 자주 비단옷, 진홍 비단옷을 입혀놓은 것, 장인의 손으로 된 그런 것에게 가르침을 받습니다."
  5. 야훼만이 참 신, 살아 계시는 하느님, 영원한 임금이시다. 한번 분노를 터뜨리시면 땅이 덜덜 떠는데, 어느 민족이 이 하느님의 노여움을 당해 내랴?
  1. Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
  2. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
  3. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
  4. Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
  5. They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
  1. 하늘과 땅을 만들지 않은 신들은 천하 온 세상에서 사라지고 말리라고 사람들에게 일러주어라.
  2. 당신 힘으로 땅을 만드시고 당신 지혜로 땅덩어리를 고정시키시고 당신 재주로 하늘을 펼치셨다.
  3. 한번 호령하시면 하늘에서 물이 출렁이고 먹구름이 지평선에서 올라오고, 번개가 번쩍이며 비가 쏟아지면 가두어두셨던 바람을 풀어놓으신다.
  4. 사람은 모두 짐승처럼 우둔한 것, 은장이는 제가 부어 만든 우상 때문에 창피당하리라. 그것은 숨도 못 쉬는 허수아비,
  5. 아무것도 못하는 놀림감, 사람들이 벌받는 날, 함께 사라지리라.
  1. The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
  2. Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
  3. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
  4. Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous; but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
  5. My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
  1. 야곱을 골라 당신을 섬기라고 하신 이는 그런 신이 아니다. 만물을 지으시고 이스라엘 지파를 당신의 몫으로 고르신 분, 그 이름 만군의 야훼시다.
  2. "너희는 독 안에 든 쥐와 같다. 보따리를 꾸리고 이 땅을 떠날 채비나 하여라.
  3. 나 야훼가 선언한다. 이번은 이 땅 백성들을 내쫓고야 말리라. 바짝 비틀어 짜내고야 말리라."
  4. "이젠 망하였다. 얻어터져 다시 살아날 길이 없이 되었다. 이런 고통쯤은 참을 수 있으려니 하였더니!
  5. 천막줄이 모두 끊겨 천막은 망가지고 자식들은 간 곳 없이 사라지겠네. 천막을 다시 쳐줄 사람도 없고 휘장을 다시 걸어줄 사람도 없겠네.
  1. For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
  2. Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
  3. O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
  4. O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
  5. Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
  1. 백성의 목자라는 것들이 미련하여 야훼의 뜻을 찾지 않다가, 일이 뒤틀려 양떼가 흩어지게 되었네.
  2. 흉보가 들려온다. 요란한 소리가 북녘 땅에서 들려온다. 유다의 성읍들은 쑥밭이 되고 마침내 여우의 소굴이 되겠네."
  3. "야훼께서도 아시다시피, 사람이 산다는 것이 제 마음대로 됩니까? 사람이 한 발짝인들 제 힘으로 내디딜 수 있습니까?
  4. 그러니 야훼여, 화가 나서 매를 드셔도, 죽여버리셔야 되겠습니까? 그저 법대로 다스려주십시오.
  5. 화풀이는 야훼를 모르는 민족들에게나 하여주십시오. 야훼의 이름을 부르지 않는 족속들 위에나 퍼부으십시오. 그들은 야곱의 족속을 죽여 멸종시키고, 우리 농토를 쑥밭으로 만들었습니다."
