- Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
- By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
- For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
- For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
- Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

- 예수께서 그리스도이심을 믿는 사람은 누구나 하느님의 자녀입니다. 아버지를 사랑하는 사람은 누구나 그 자녀를 사랑합니다.
- 우리가 하느님을 사랑하고 또 하느님의 계명을 지키면 우리가 하느님의 자녀를 사랑하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있습니다.
- 하느님의 계명을 지키는 것이 곧 하느님을 사랑하는 일입니다. 그리고 하느님의 계명은 무거운 짐이 아닙니다.
- 하느님의 자녀는 누구나 다 세상을 이겨냅니다. 그리고 세상을 이기는 승리의 길은 곧 우리의 믿음입니다.
- 세상을 이기는 사람은 누구입니까? 예수께서 하느님의 아들이시라는 것을 믿는 사람이 아니겠습니까?

- This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
- For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
- And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
- If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
- He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

- 하느님의 아들이 인간으로 오셔서 물로 세례를 받으시고 수난의 피를 흘리셨습니다. 그분이 바로 그리스도이신 예수이십니다. 그분은 물로 세례를 받으신 것뿐만 아니라 세례도 받으시고 수난의 피도 흘리셨습니다. 이것을 증언하시는 분은 성령이십니다. 성령은 곧 진리입니다.
- 증언자가 셋 있습니다.
- 곧 성령과 물과 피인데 이 셋은 서로 일치합니다.
- 우리가 사람의 증언을 인정한다면 하느님의 증언은 더욱더 인정해야 하지 않겠습니까? 이것은 하느님께서 친히 당신의 아들에 관해서 하신 증언이기 때문입니다.
- 하느님의 아들을 믿는 사람은 이 증언을 자기 마음속에 간직하고 있습니다. 하느님을 믿지 않는 자는 하느님을 거짓말쟁이로 만듭니다. 그런 자는 하느님께서 당신의 아들에 관해서 증언하신 것을 믿지 않기 때문입니다.

- And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
- These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
- And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
- And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

- 그 증언은 하느님께서 영원한 생명을 우리에게 주셨다는 것과 그 생명이 당신의 아들 안에 있다는 것입니다.
- 하느님의 아들을 모신 사람은 생명을 가진 사람이고 그 아들을 모시지 않은 사람은 생명을 가지지 못한 사람입니다.
- 나는 하느님의 아들의 이름을 믿는 여러분에게 이 글을 씁니다. 그것은 여러분이 영원한 생명을 갖고 있다는 것을 여러분에게 알리려는 것입니다.
- 무엇이든지 우리가 하느님의 뜻을 따라 청하면 하느님께서 우리의 청을 들어주시리라는 것을 우리는 확신합니다.
- 우리가 하느님께 청하는 것은 무엇이든지 다 들어주신다는 것을 알고 있으니 우리가 하느님께 청한 것은 이미 다 받은 것이나 마찬가지입니다.

- If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
- All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
- We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
- And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
- And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

- 어떤 사람이 자기 형제가 죄짓는 것을 볼 때 그것이 죽을 죄가 아니라면 하느님께 간구하시오. 그러면 하느님께서 그 죄인을 살려주실 것입니다. 사실 죽을 죄가 있습니다. 이런 죄를 지은 사람을 위해서 간구하라고 말하는 것은 아닙니다.
- 옳지 못한 일은 모두 죄입니다. 그러나 죽음에까지는 이르게 하지 않는 죄가 있습니다.
- 우리가 아는 바와 같이 하느님께로부터 난 사람은 누구나 죄를 짓지 않습니다. 하느님의 아들이 그를 지켜주시기 때문에 악마가 그를 다치게 하지 못합니다.
- 우리는 하느님의 자녀이고 온 세상은 악마의 지배를 받고 있습니다.
- 그러나 하느님의 아들이 오셔서 참 하느님을 알 수 있는 힘을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 그리고 우리는 참되신 분 곧 그분의 아들 예수 그리스도 안에서 살고 있습니다. 그분이야말로 참 하느님이시며 영원한 생명이십니다.
