- 네 친구나 아비의 친구를 저버리지 마라. 어려울 때 동기의 집을 찾아가지 마라. 이웃 사촌이 먼 동기보다 낫다.
- 아들아, 부디 지혜를 깨쳐 내 마음을 기쁘게 해다오. 그래야 나를 비웃는 자에게 할 말이 있다.
- 영리한 사람은 불길한 일을 보고 숨지만 철부지는 제 발로 걸어 들어가 화를 입는다.
- 나그네가 옷을 담보로 잡히거든 잡아두어라. 나그네니 딱하더라도 잡아두어라.
- 새벽에 큰소리로 인사받거든 욕을 먹었거니 생각하여라.
