- My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
- For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
- Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
- For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
- She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

- 내 아들아, 여호와의 징계를 가볍게 여기지 말며 그의 꾸지람을 언짢게 생각하지 말아라.
- 아버지가 자식이 잘되라고 꾸짖고 나무라는 것처럼 여호와께서도 자기가 사랑하는 사람을 꾸짖고 나무라신다.
- 지혜와 깨달음을 가진 자는 행복하다.
- 그것이 은이나 금보다 더 가치 있고 유익하기 때문이다.
- 지혜는 보석보다 더 귀한 것이므로 네가 갖고 싶어하는 그 어떤 것도 이것과 비교가 되지 않는다.
