- Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
- I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
- When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
- Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
- Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

- 내 아들아, 내 말을 듣고 받아들여라. 그러면 네가 장수할 것이다.
- 내가 너에게 지혜와 옳은 길을 가르쳤으니
- 네가 걸어갈 때 네 걸음이 방해를 받지 않을 것이며 네가 달려갈 때에도 걸려 넘어지지 않을 것이다.
- 내 교훈을 잊지말고 굳게 지켜라 이것은 너의 생명과도 같은 것이다.
- 너는 악인들이 가는 곳에 가지 말고 그들의 행동을 본받지 말아라.

- Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
- For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
- For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
- But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
- The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

- 너는 악한 길을 피하고 그들의 길로 가지 말며 돌아서라.
- 악인들은 나쁜 짓을 하지 않으면 직성이 풀리지 않으며 남을 해치지 않으면 잠이 오지 않는다.
- 그들은 악의 빵을 먹고 폭력의 술을 마신다.
- 의로운 자의 길은 점점 밝아져서 완전히 빛나는 아침 햇빛 같으며
- 악인의 길은 캄캄한 어두움과 같아서 그들이 넘어져도 무엇에 걸려 넘어졌는지조차 알지 못한다.
