예레미야 19:1-21:14

 하나님께서는 오지병을 깨뜨리는 비유를 통해 하나님의 훈계와 교훈을 멸시한 유다의 파멸이 확정적임을 보여 주셨다. 예레미야가 성전에 올라가 이러한 심판의 메시지를 선포하자 성전의 책임자였던 바스훌이 그를 핍박하였다. 이에 예레미야는 자신의 심정을 하나님께 토로하며 탄식하였다. 그 후 바벨론이 침입하여 위기에 처하자 시드기야 왕은 예레미야에게 기도를 부탁했지만, 예레미야는 바벨론에게 항복할 것을 권유하였다.
  
  심판 선포(19:1-19:15)    
 
  1. Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
  2. And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,
  3. And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
  4. Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
  5. They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
  1. 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. '너는 가서 토기장이에게 질그릇 하나를 사고 백성 가운데 나이 많은 어른들과 제사장 몇 사람을 데리고
  2. '질그릇 조각의 문'이란 이름을 가진 동문 입구 곁의 힌놈 골짜기로 가서 이렇게 선포하라.
  3. 유다의 왕들과 예루살렘 주민들아, 여호와의 말씀을 들어라. 전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨다. '보라, 내가 듣는 자들의 귀가 멍멍할 정도로 이 곳에 무서운 재앙을 내리겠다.
  4. 이것은 그들이 나를 버리고 이 곳을 우상으로 더럽히며 그들과 그 조상들과 유다 왕들이 알지 못하던 다른 신들에게 분향하고 이 곳을 죄 없는 사람들의 피로 물들였으며
  5. 또 그들이 산언덕에 바알의 단을 세우고 자기들의 아들을 제물로 불에 태워 바쳤기 때문이다. 이것은 내가 명령한 것도 아니며 내가 마음 속으로 생각한 것도 아니다.
  1. Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.
  2. And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
  3. And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
  4. And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.
  5. Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,
  1. 그러므로 다시는 이 곳을 도벳이나 힌놈 골짜기라고 부르지 않고 '살육의 골짜기'라고 부를 날이 올 것이다.
  2. 내가 이 곳에서 유다와 예루살렘의 계획을 좌절시키고 그들을 원수의 칼날에 엎드러지게 하여 그 시체를 공중의 새와 들짐승의 밥이 되게 하겠다.
  3. 내가 또 이 성을 황폐하게 하여 조소의 대상이 되게 할 것이니 지나가는 사람마다 그들이 당한 재앙을 보고 놀라며 비웃을 것이다.
  4. 적들이 그 성을 포위하고 있을 때 성 안에 갇혀 있는 사람들은 식량이 떨어져 먹을 것이 없으므로 자기 친구들과 자식들까지 잡아먹을 것이다.'
  5. 그리고서 너는 함께 가는 자들이 지켜보는 가운데서 그 질그릇을 깨뜨리고
  1. And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.
  2. Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:
  3. And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.
  4. Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD's house; and said to all the people,
  5. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
  1. 그들에게 이렇게 말하라. 이것은 전능하신 여호와의 말씀이오. '사람이 한번 깨뜨리면 다시 주워 붙일 수 없는 토기장이의 이 질그릇처럼 내가 이 백성과 이 성을 박살내겠다. 시체가 너무 많아 묻을 곳이 없으므로 이 곳 도벳 골짜기에 갖다 쌓을 것이다.
  2. 나 여호와가 말한다. 내가 이 성과 이 백성을 도벳처럼 되게 하겠다.
  3. 예루살렘의 집들과 유다 왕들의 궁전과 그리고 지붕 위에서 별에게 분향하고 다른 신들에게 술을 따라 부은 모든 집들이 도벳처럼 더러워질 것이다.'
  4. 그런 다음 나는 여호와께서 나를 보내 예언하게 하신 그 곳 도벳에서 돌아와 여호와의 성전 뜰에 서서 모든 백성들에게 말하였다.
  5. 전능하신 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '보라, 내가 이 성과 모든 인근 부락에 이미 선언한 재앙을 내리겠다. 이것은 그들이 고집을 피우며 내 말을 들으려 하지 않았기 때문이다.'
 
  핍박받는 예레미야(20:1-20:18)    
 
  1. Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
  2. Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
  3. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.
  4. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
  5. Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
  1. 그때 임멜의 아들이며 여호와의 성전 관리 책임자인 제사장 바스훌이 예레미야가 예언하는 이 말을 듣고
  2. 예레미야를 잡아 때리고 그를 성전의 '베냐민 윗문'에 달아 둔 쇠고랑에 채웠다.
  3. 다음 날 바스훌이 예레미야를 그 쇠고랑에서 풀어 주자 예레미야가 그에게 이렇게 말하였다. '여호와께서 네 이름을 바스훌이라고 부르지 않고 사방 두려움을 뜻하는 '마골-밋사빕'으로 고치셨다.
  4. 여호와께서 직접 너에게 하신 말씀을 들어 보아라. '내가 너를 너와 네 모든 친구들에게 두려움이 되게 할 것이니 너는 그들이 원수의 칼날에 죽는 것을 보게 될 것이다. 내가 모든 유다 백성을 바빌로니아 왕의 손에 넘겨 주겠다. 그가 이 백성을 바빌로니아로 끌고 가서 칼로 죽일 것이다.
  5. 또 내가 이 성의 모든 재산, 곧 모든 농산물과 귀중품과 유다 왕들의 모든 보물을 그 원수들에게 넘겨 주어 그들이 그 모든 것을 바빌로니아로 약탈해 가게 하겠다.
  1. And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
  2. O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived; thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
  3. For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
  4. Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
  5. For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
  1. 바스훌아, 너와 너의 모든 집안 사람들이 포로가 되어 바빌로니아로 끌려가 거기서 죽어 묻힐 것이며 또 너의 거짓된 예언을 들은 네 친구들도 그렇게 될 것이다.'
  2. 여호와여, 주께서 나를 속이시므로 내가 속임을 당했으며 주께서 나보다 강하시므로 나를 이기셨습니다. 내가 하루종일 조롱거리가 되어 모든 사람들에게 비웃음을 사고 있습니다.
  3. 내가 말할 때마다 '횡포! 멸망!' 하고 부르짖게 되니 내가 주의 말씀 때문에 하루 종일 수치와 모욕을 당합니다.
  4. 내가 다시는 여호와를 기억하지 않고 그 이름으로 말하지 않겠다 하면 주의 말씀이 내 속에 타오르는 불길 같아서 내 뼛속에 사무치니 내가 답답하여 견딜 수 없습니다.
  5. 나는 많은 사람들이 '사방에 두려움이 있다! 그를 고발하자! 그를 고발하자!' 하고 수군거리는 소리를 듣고 있으며 내가 신임하는 모든 친구들까지도 내가 타락하기를 바라며 '그가 유혹에 빠질지도 모른다. 그때 우리가 그를 잡아 복수하자.' 하고 말합니다.
  1. But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
  2. But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
  3. Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
  4. Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
  5. Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
  1. 그러나 여호와여, 용사와 같은 주께서 나와 함께 하시므로 나를 박해하는 자들이 나를 이기지 못할 것입니다. 그들은 실패하여 영원히 잊혀질 수 없는 수치를 당할 것입니다.
  2. 의로운 자를 시험하여 그 마음의 깊은 뜻과 생각을 알아내시는 전능하신 여호와여, 내 사정을 주께 말씀드렸습니다. 그들이 주께 보복 당하는 것을 내 눈으로 보게 하소서.
  3. 여호와께 노래하라! 여호와를 찬양하라! 그가 가난한 자의 생명을 악한 자의 손에서 구원하셨다.
  4. 내가 태어난 날이 저주스럽구나. 내 어머니가 나를 낳던 그 날이 복되지 않았더라면 좋았을 텐데.
  5. 내 아버지에게 '아들이야, 아들! 자네에게 아들이 생겼어!' 하고 기쁜 소식을 전하여 아버지를 즐겁게 하던 자가 저주스럽구나.
  1. And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
  2. Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
  3. Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
  1. 그 사람이 여호와께서 사정없이 무너뜨린 성처럼 되었더라면, 그가 아침에는 부르짖는 소리를, 낮에는 전쟁의 함성을 들었더라면 좋았을 텐데.
  2. 어째서 그가 나를 태에서 죽이지 않았는가? 내가 어머니 뱃속에서 죽었더라면, 그것이 나의 무덤이 되었더라면 좋았을 텐데.
  3. 내가 무엇 때문에 태에서 나와 이런 고생과 슬픔을 겪으며 수치 가운데서 나날을 보내는가?
 
  멸망당할 유다(21:1-21:14)    
 
  1. The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
  2. Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
  3. Then said Jeremiah unto them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah:
  4. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans, which besiege you without the walls, and I will assemble them into the midst of this city.
  5. And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
  1. 유다의 시드기야왕이 말기야의 아들인 바스훌과 마아세야의 아들인 제사장 스바냐를 예레미야에게 보내 이런 말을 전하였다.
  2. '바빌로니아의 느부갓네살왕이 우리를 공격해 오는데 당신은 우리를 위해서 여호와께 물어 보시오. 어쩌면 여호와께서 옛날처럼 우리를 도와 기적을 베푸셔서 느부갓네살왕이 물러가도록 하실지도 모릅니다.'
  3. 그때 예레미야가 그들에게 대답하였다. '당신들은 시드기야왕에게 가서
  4. 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이렇게 말씀하신다고 일러 주시오. '나는 성 밖에서 너희를 포위하고 있는 바빌로니아왕과 그의 군대와 맞서 싸우려는 너희들의 무기를 쓸모없게 만들 것이며 그들을 이 성 안으로 불러들이겠다.
  5. 내가 분노하여 강한 팔로 너희를 치고
  1. And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
  2. And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy.
  3. And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
  4. He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.
  5. For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
  1. 또 내가 이 성에 무서운 전염병을 보내 사람과 짐승이 다 같이 죽게 하겠다.
  2. 그 후에 내가 시드기야왕과 그 신하들과 그리고 이 성에서 전염병과 전쟁과 기근 중에서도 살아 남은 사람들을 바빌로니아의 느부갓네살왕과 그들의 생명을 노리는 원수들의 손에 넘겨 주겠다. 느부갓네살왕은 그들을 조금이라도 동정하거나 불쌍히 여기지 않고 무자비하게 마구 쳐서 죽일 것이다.'
  3. 여호와께서 나에게 말씀하셨다. '너는 이 백성에게 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 일러라. '내가 너희에게 두 가지 길, 곧 사는 길과 죽는 길을 제시한다.
  4. 누구든지 이 성에 머물러 있는 자는 전쟁과 굶주림과 전염병으로 죽을 것이다. 그러나 너희를 포위하고 있는 바빌로니아군에게 나가서 항복하는 자는 살 것이며 적어도 목숨만은 구하게 될 것이다.
  5. 나 여호와가 말한다. 내가 이 성에 복을 내리지 않고 화를 내리기로 결심하였다. 이 성은 바빌로니아왕의 손아귀에 들어갈 것이며 그는 이 성을 잿더미로 만들어 버릴 것이다.'
  1. And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the word of the LORD;
  2. O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
  3. Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations?
  4. But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.
  1. 그리고 너는 유다 왕실에 이렇게 말하라. 다윗의 집안 사람들아, 여호와의 말씀을 들어라. '너희는 아침마다 공정한 재판을 하여 약탈당한 자를 압박자의 손에서 구하라. 그렇지 않으면 너희가 행한 악에 대하여 내 분노가 불처럼 타오를 것이니 아무도 끌 자가 없을 것이다.
  2. (11절과 같음)
  3. 골짜기와 바위 평원에 사는 예루살렘 주민들아, 너희는 아무도 너희를 칠 자가 없고 너희 방어벽을 뚫을 자가 없다고 말하지만 내가 너희를 칠 것이다.
  4. 너희가 행한 것만큼 내가 너희를 벌할 것이며 또 숲속에 불을 놓아 그 주변에 있는 것을 내가 다 태워 버릴 것이다. 이것은 나 여호와의 말이다.'
