사무엘하 3:1-4:12

 이스보셋과 아브넬의 불화로 아브넬은 다윗에게 전향했다. 요압은 다윗을 방문한 아브넬을 죽여 동생 아사헬의 원수를 갚았다. 다윗이 아브넬의 죽음을 슬퍼하자 백성들은 그를 더욱 신뢰하였다. 이스보셋의 군장 레갑과 바아나가 이스보셋을 살해하여 그 머리를 들고 다윗에게 왔으나 다윗은 그들을 처형했다.
  
  다윗에게 전향한 아브넬(3:1-3:39)    
 
  1. Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
  2. And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;
  3. And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;
  4. And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
  5. And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.
  1. 사울 집안과 다윗 집안 사이에 전쟁이 오래 계속되었다. 그러나 다윗 집안은 점점 더 강해지고, 사울 집안은 점점 더 약해졌다.
  2. 다윗이 헤브론에서 낳은 아들은 다음과 같다. 맏아들은 이스르엘 여인 아히노암에게서 태어난 암논이고,

  1. And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.
  2. And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father's concubine?
  3. Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?
  4. So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;
  5. To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.
  1. 사울 집안과 다윗 집안 사이에 전쟁이 계속되는 동안에, 사울 집안에서는 아브넬이 점점 더 세력을 잡았다.

  4. 주님께서는 이미 다윗에게 약속하신 것이 있습니다. 이제 저는 다윗 편을 들어서 하나님의 뜻대로 하겠습니다. 그렇게 하지 않는다면, 하나님이 이 아브넬에게 벌을 내리시고 또 내리셔도 좋습니다.
  5. 하나님은 이 나라를 사울과 그의 자손에게서 빼앗아, 다윗에게 주실 것입니다. 하나님이 다윗을 이스라엘과 유다의 왕으로 삼으셔서, 북쪽 단에서부터 남쪽 브엘세바에 이르기까지 다스리게 하실 것입니다."
  1. And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.
  2. And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
  3. And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when thou comest to see my face.
  4. And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
  5. And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.
  1. 이 말을 듣고, 이스보셋은 아브넬이 두려워서, 그에게 다시는 말 한 마디도 하지 못하였다.
  2. 아브넬은 다윗에게 사람을 보내어서, 이렇게 전하였다. "이 나라가 누구의 것입니까? 그러니 임금님이 저와 언약만 세우시면, 내가 임금님의 편이 되어서, 온 이스라엘이 임금님에게 돌아가도록 하겠습니다."
  3. 다윗이 대답하였다. "좋소! 내가 장군과 언약을 세우겠소. 그런데 나는 장군에게 한 가지만 요구하겠소. 그대는 나를 만나러 올 때에 사울의 딸 미갈을 데리고 오시오. 그렇지 않으면, 내 얼굴을 볼 생각을 하지 마시오."
  4. 그런 다음에 다윗은 사울의 아들 이스보셋에게 사람을 보내어서, 이렇게 전하였다. "나의 아내 미갈을 돌려 주시오. 미갈은 내가 블레셋 사람의 포피 백 개를 바치고 맞은 아내요."
  5. 그러자 이스보셋이 사람을 보내어서, 미갈을 그의 남편인 라이스의 아들 발디엘에게서 빼앗아 오도록 하였다.
  1. And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.
  2. And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:
  3. Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.
  4. And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.
  5. So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.
  1. 그 때에 그 여인의 남편은 계속 울면서 바후림까지 자기 아내를 따라왔는데, 아브넬이 그에게 "당신은 그만 돌아가시오" 하고 말하니, 그가 돌아갔다.
  2. 아브넬이 이스라엘의 장로들과 상의하였다. "여러분은 이미 전부터 다윗을 여러분의 왕으로 모시려고 애를 썼습니다.
  3. 이제 기회가 왔습니다. 주님께서 이미 다윗을 두고 '내가 나의 종 다윗을 시켜서, 나의 백성 이스라엘을 블레셋 사람의 지배와 모든 원수의 지배에서 구하여 내겠다' 하고 약속하여 주셨기 때문입니다."
  4. 아브넬은 베냐민 사람들과도 상의한 뒤에, 이스라엘과 베냐민 사람 전체가 한데 모은 뜻을 다윗에게 전하려고, 헤브론으로 떠났다.
  5. 아브넬이 부하 스무 명을 거느리고 헤브론에 이르러서, 다윗을 찾아가니, 다윗이 아브넬과 그를 따라온 사람들에게 잔치를 베풀었다.
  1. And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.
  2. And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
  3. When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
  4. Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
  5. Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.
  1. 잔치가 끝나자 아브넬이 다윗에게 말하였다. "이제 그만 일어나 가서, 온 이스라엘을 높으신 임금님 앞에 모아 놓고서, 임금님과 언약을 세우게 하겠습니다. 그러면 임금님이 원하시는 어느 곳에서나, 원하시는 대로, 왕이 되셔서 다스리실 수 있습니다." 다윗이 아브넬을 떠나 보내니, 그가 평안히 떠나갔다.
  2. 그 때에, 다윗의 부하들이 요압을 따라 습격하러 나갔다가, 많은 노략물을 가지고 돌아왔다. 그러나 아브넬은 그 때에 다윗과 함께 헤브론에 있지 않았다. 다윗이 이미 그를 보내어서, 그가 무사하게 그 곳을 떠나갔기 때문이다.
  3. 요압이, 함께 데리고 나갔던 군인을 모두 데리고 돌아오자, 누군가가 그에게 알려 주었다. "넬의 아들 아브넬이 임금님을 찾아왔는데, 임금님이 그를 그냥 보내셔서, 그가 무사하게 이 곳을 떠나갔습니다."
  4. 이 말을 듣고, 요압이 곧바로 왕에게로 가서 항의하였다. "임금님이 어찌하여 이렇게 하실 수 있습니까? 아브넬이 임금님께 왔는데, 임금님은 어찌하여 그를 그냥 보내어서, 가게 하셨습니까?
  5. 넬의 아들 아브넬은, 임금님께서 잘 아시다시피, 임금님을 속이려고 온 것이며, 임금님이 드나드는 것을 살피고, 임금님이 하고 계시는 일도 모조리 알려고 온 것입니다."
  1. And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.
  2. And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
  3. And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
  4. Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.
  5. So Joab, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
  1. 요압은 다윗에게서 물러나오자마자 사람들을 보내어서 아브넬을 뒤쫓게 하였다. 그들은 시라 우물이 있는 곳에서 그를 붙잡아서, 데리고 돌아왔다. 그러나 다윗은 그 일을 전혀 몰랐다.
  2. 아브넬이 헤브론으로 돌아오니, 요압이 그와 조용히 이야기를 하려는 듯이, 성문 안으로 그를 데리고 들어갔다. 요압은 거기에서, 동생 아사헬의 원수를 갚으려고, 아브넬의 배를 찔러서 죽였다.
  3. 다윗이 그 소식을 듣고서 외쳤다. "넬의 아들 아브넬이 암살당하였으나, 나와 나의 나라는 주님 앞에 아무 죄가 없다.
  4. 오직 그 죄는 요압의 머리와 그 아버지의 온 집안으로 돌아갈 것이다. 앞으로 요압의 집안에서는, 고름을 흘리는 병자와, 나병환자와, 지팡이를 짚고 다니는 다리 저는 사람과, 칼을 맞아 죽는 자들과, 굶어 죽는 사람이 끊어지지 않을 것이다."
  5. 요압과 그의 동생 아비새가 아브넬을 죽인 것은, 아브넬이 그들의 동생 아사헬을 기브온 전투에서 죽였기 때문이다.
  1. And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.
  2. And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
  3. And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?
  4. Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.
  5. And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
  1. 다윗은 요압을 비롯하여 자기와 함께 있는 온 백성에게 명령하였다. "백성은 옷을 찢고, 허리에 굵은 베 옷을 두른 뒤에, 아브넬의 상여 앞에서 걸어가면서 애도하여라." 그리고 다윗 왕도 몸소 상여를 뒤따라갔다.
  2. 백성이 아브넬을 헤브론에 장사지내니, 다윗 왕이 아브넬의 무덤 앞에서 목을 놓아 울었고, 온 백성도 울었다.
  3. 다윗 왕은 아브넬을 두고, 이렇게 조가를 지어 불렀다. "어찌하여 어리석은 사람이 죽듯이, 그렇게 아브넬이 죽었는가?
  4. 그의 손이 묶이지도 않았고, 발이 쇠고랑에 채이지도 않았는데, 악한들에게 잡혀 죽듯이, 그렇게 쓰러져서 죽었는가?" 그러자 온 백성이 아브넬의 죽음을 슬퍼하며, 다시 한 번 울었다.
  5. 날이 아직 채 저물지 않았을 때에, 온 백성이 다윗에게 와서 음식을 들도록 권하니, 다윗이 맹세하였다. "오늘 해가 지기 전에, 내가 빵이나 그 어떤 것을 맛이라도 보면, 하나님이 나에게 어떤 벌을 내리셔도 마땅하다."
  1. And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.
  2. For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.
  3. And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
  4. And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.
  1. 온 백성이 그것을 보고서, 그 일을 좋게 여겼다. 다윗 왕이 무엇을 하든지, 온 백성이 마음에 좋게 받아들였다.
  2. 그 때에야, 비로소 넬의 아들 아브넬을 죽인 것이 왕에게서 비롯된 일이 아님을, 온 백성과 온 이스라엘이 깨달아 알았다.
  3. 그런 다음에 왕은 신복들에게 말하였다. "그대들이 아는 대로, 오늘 이스라엘에서 훌륭한 장군이 죽었소.
  4. 스루야의 아들들이 나보다 더 강하니, 비록 내가 기름부음을 받은 왕이라고 하지만, 보다시피 이렇게 약하오. 그러므로 이런 악을 저지른 사람에게, 주님께서 그 죄악에 따라 갚아 주시기만 바랄 뿐이오."
 
  이스보셋의 최후(4:1-4:12)    
 
  1. And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
  2. And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.
  3. And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
  4. And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
  5. And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
  1. 사울의 아들 이스보셋은, 아브넬이 헤브론에서 죽었다는 소식을 듣고서, 그만 맥이 풀리고 말았다. 이스라엘 온 백성도 두려움에 사로잡혔다.
  2. 이 때에 사울의 아들 이스보셋에게는 군지휘관이 두 사람 있었는데, 한 사람의 이름은 바아나요, 또 한 사람의 이름은 레갑이었다. 그들은 브에롯 사람 림몬의 아들로서, 베냐민 사람이다. （브에롯 사람도 베냐민 족속으로 여김을 받았는데,
  3. 일찍이 브에롯 주민이 깃다임으로 도망가서, 오늘날까지 거기에 머물러 살고 있기 때문이다.）
  4. 사울의 아들 요나단에게는 두 다리를 저는 아들이 하나 있었다. 사울과 요나단이 죽었다는 소식이 이스르엘에 전해졌을 때에, 그는 겨우 다섯 살이었다. 유모가 그를 업고 도망할 때에, 서둘러 도망하다가, 그가 떨어져서 발을 절게 되었다. 그의 이름이 므비보셋이다.
  5. 브에롯 사람 림몬의 두 아들 레갑과 바아나가 이스보셋이 있는 왕궁으로 갔다. 그들은 한창 더운 대낮에 그 곳에 도착하였는데, 때마침 이스보셋은 낮잠을 자고 있었다.
  1. And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
  2. For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.
  3. And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
  4. And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
  5. When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
  1. 그들은 밀을 가지러 온 사람처럼 꾸미고, 대궐 안으로 들어가서, 그의 배를 찔러서 죽였다. 그런 다음에 레갑과 그의 동생 바아나는 도망하였는데,
  2. 그들이 대궐로 들어갔을 때에, 왕은 침실에서 침대에 누워서 자고 있었다. 그래서 그들은 왕을 죽이고, 그의 머리를 잘라 낼 수가 있었다. 그들은 그의 머리를 가지고 나와, 밤새도록 아라바 길을 걸어서,

  4. 그러나 다윗은 브에롯 사람 림몬의 아들 레갑과 그의 동생 바아나에게 이와 같이 대답하였다. "온갖 죽을 고비에서 나의 생명을 건져 주신 확실히 살아 계신 주님을 두고 맹세한다.
  5. 전에, 사울이 죽었다는 소식을 나에게 전하여 주고, 자기는 좋은 소식을 전한 것으로 여긴 자가 있었다. 나는 그를 붙잡아서, 시글락에서 죽였다. 이것이 내가 그에게 준 보상이었다.
  1. How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
  2. And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
  1. 하물며, 흉악한 자들이, 자기 집 침상에서 잠자는 어진 사람을 죽였으니, 내가 어찌 너희의 살인죄를 벌하지 않을 수가 있겠느냐? 그러므로 나는 이제 너희를 이 땅에서 없애 버리겠다."
  2. 다윗이 젊은이들에게 명령하니, 젊은이들이 그 두 사람을 죽이고, 그들의 손과 발을 모조리 잘라 낸 다음에, 그들의 주검을 헤브론의 연못가에 달아 매었다. 그러나 이스보셋의 머리는 가져다가, 헤브론에 있는 아브넬의 무덤에 묻었다.
