- When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
- And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
- Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
- Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
- They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

- 예수께서 이 말씀을 하신 뒤에, 제자들과 함께 기드론 골짜기 건너편으로 가셨다. 거기에는 동산이 하나 있었는데, 예수와 그 제자들이 거기에 들어가셨다.
- 예수가 그 제자들과 함께 거기서 여러 번 모이셨으므로, 예수를 넘겨줄 유다도 그 곳을 알고 있었다.
- 유다는 로마 군대 병정들과, 제사장들과 바리새파 사람들이 보낸 성전 경비병들을 데리고 그리로 갔다. 그들은 등불과 횃불과 무기를 들고 있었다.
- 예수께서는 자기에게 닥쳐올 일을 모두 아시고, 앞으로 나서서 그들에게 물으셨다. "너희는 누구를 찾느냐?"
- 그들이 대답하였다. "나사렛 사람 예수요." 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 그 사람이다." 예수를 넘겨줄 유다도 그들과 함께 서 있었다.

- As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
- Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
- Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
- That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
- Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

- 예수께서 그들에게 "내가 그 사람이다" 하고 말씀하시니, 그들은 뒤로 물러나서 땅에 쓰러졌다.
- 다시 예수께서 그들에게 물으셨다. "너희는 누구를 찾느냐?" 그들이 대답하였다. "나사렛 사람 예수요."
- 예수께서 말씀하셨다. "내가 그 사람이라고 너희에게 이미 말하였다. 너희가 나를 찾거든, 이 사람들은 물러가게 하여라."
- 이렇게 말씀하신 것은, 예수께서 전에 '아버지께서 나에게 주신 사람을, 나는 한 사람도 잃지 않았습니다' 하신 그 말씀을 이루게 하시려는 것이었다.
- 시몬 베드로가 칼을 가지고 있었는데, 그는 그것을 빼어 대제사장의 종을 쳐서, 오른쪽 귀를 잘라버렸다. 그 종의 이름은 말고였다.

- Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
- Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,
- And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
- Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
- And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

- 그 때에 예수께서 베드로에게 말씀하셨다. "그 칼을 칼집에 꽂아라. 아버지께서 나에게 주신 이 잔을, 내가 어찌 마시지 않겠느냐?"
- 로마 군대 병정들과 그 부대장과 유대 사람들의 성전 경비병들이 예수를 잡아 묶어서
- 먼저 안나스에게로 끌고 갔다. 안나스는 그 해의 대제사장인 가야바의 장인인데,
- 가야바는 '한 사람이 온 백성을 위하여 죽는 것이 유익하다'고 유대 사람에게 조언한 사람이다.
- 시몬 베드로와 또 다른 제자 한 사람이 예수를 따라갔다. 그 제자는 대제사장과 잘 아는 사이라서, 예수를 따라 대제사장의 집 안뜰에까지 들어갔다.

- But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
- Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
- And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
- The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
- Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

- 그러나 베드로는 대문 밖에 서 있었다. 그런데 대제사장과 잘 아는 사이인 그 다른 제자가 나와서, 문지기 하녀에게 말하고, 베드로를 데리고 들어갔다.
- 그 때에 문지기 하녀가 베드로에게 말하였다. "당신도 이 사람의 제자 가운데 한 사람이지요?" 베드로는 "아니오" 하고 대답하였다.
- 날이 추워서, 종들과 경비병들이 숯불을 피워 놓고 서서 불을 쬐고 있는데, 베드로도 그들과 함께 서서 불을 쬐고 있었다.
- 대제사장은 예수께 그의 제자들과 그의 가르침에 관하여 물었다.
- 예수께서 대답하셨다. "나는 드러내 놓고 세상에 말하였소. 나는 언제나 모든 유대 사람이 모이는 회당과 성전에서 가르쳤으며, 아무것도 숨어서 말한 것이 없소.

- Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.
- And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
- Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
- Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.
- And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

- 그런데 어찌하여 나에게 묻소? 내가 무슨 말을 하였는지를, 들은 사람들에게 물어 보시오. 내가 말한 것을 그들이 알고 있소."
- 예수께서 이렇게 말씀하시니, 경비병 한 사람이 곁에 서 있다가 "대제사장에게 그게 무슨 대답이냐?" 하면서, 손바닥으로 예수를 때렸다.
- 예수께서 그 사람에게 말씀하셨다. "내가 한 말에 잘못이 있으면, 잘못되었다는 증거를 대시오. 그러나 내가 한 말이 옳다면, 어찌하여 나를 때리시오?"
- 안나스는 예수를 묶은 그대로 대제사장 가야바에게로 보냈다.
- 시몬 베드로는 서서, 불을 쬐고 있었다. 사람들이 그에게 물었다. "당신도 그의 제자 가운데 한 사람이지요?" 베드로가 부인하여 "나는 아니오!" 하고 말하였다.

- One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
- Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

- 베드로에게 귀를 잘린 사람의 친척으로서, 대제사장의 종 가운데 한 사람이 베드로에게 말하였다. "당신이 동산에서 그와 함께 있는 것을 내가 보았는데 그러시오?"
- 베드로가 다시 부인하였다. 그러자 곧 닭이 울었다.
