- 명철한 사람의 입술에는 지혜가 있지만, 지혜가 없는 사람의 등에는 매가 떨어진다.
- 지혜로운 사람은 지식을 간직하지만, 미련한 사람의 입은 멸망을 재촉한다.
- 부자의 재산은 그의 견고한 성이 되지만, 가난한 사람의 빈곤은 그를 망하게 한다.

- The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
- He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
- He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

- 미움을 감추는 사람은 거짓말 하는 사람이요, 남을 중상하는 사람은 미련한 사람이다.
- 말이 많으면 허물을 면하기 어려우나, 입을 조심하는 사람은 지혜가 있다.
- 의인의 혀는 순수한 은과 같지만, 악인의 마음은 아무 가치가 없다.
