- 훈계받기를 좋아하는 사람은 지식을 사랑하지만, 책망받기를 싫어하는 사람은 짐승같이 우둔하다.
- 선한 사람은 주님으로부터 은총을 받지만, 악을 꾀하는 사람은 정죄를 받는다.
- 사람은 악행으로 터를 굳게 세울 수 없지만, 의인의 뿌리는 흔들리지 않는다.
- 어진 아내는 남편의 면류관이지만, 욕을 끼치는 아내는 남편의 뼛속을 썩게 한다.
- 의인의 생각은 곧지만, 악인의 궁리는 속임수뿐이다.

- The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
- The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
- A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
- He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
- A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

- 악인이 하는 말은 피 흘릴 음모뿐이지만, 정직한 사람의 말은 사람을 구하여 낸다.
- 악인은 쓰러져서 사라지지만, 의인의 집은 든든히 서 있다.
- 사람은 그 지혜대로 칭찬을 받지만 마음이 비뚤어진 사람은 멸시를 받는다.
- 업신여김을 받더라도 종을 부리는 사람은, 스스로 높은 체하면서 먹을 빵이 없는 사람보다 낫다.
- 의인은 집짐승의 생명도 돌보아 주지만, 악인은 자비를 베푼다고 하여도 잔인하다.
