- When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
- And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
- Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
- Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
- They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

- イエス はこれらのことを 話し 終えられると， 弟子たちとともに， ケデロン の 川筋の 向こう 側に 出て 行かれた． そこに 園があって， イエス は 弟子たちといっしょに， そこにはいられた．
- ところで， イエス を 裏切ろうとしていた ユダ もその 場所を 知っていた． イエス がたびたび 弟子たちとそこで 會合されたからである．
- そこで， ユダ は 一隊の 兵士と， 祭司長， パリサイ 人たちから 送られた 役人たちを 引き 連れて， ともしびとたいまつと 武器を 持って， そこに 來た．
- イエス は 自分の 身に 起ころうとするすべてのことを 知っておられたので， 出て 來て， 「だれを 搜すのか． 」と 彼らに 言われた．
- 彼らは， 「ナザレ 人 イエス を． 」と 答えた． イエス は 彼らに「それはわたしです． 」と 言われた． イエス を 裏切ろうとしていた ユダ も 彼らといっしょに 立っていた．

- As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
- Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
- Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
- That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
- Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

- イエス が 彼らに， 「それはわたしです． 」と 言われたとき， 彼らはあとずさりし， そして 地に 倒れた．
- そこで， イエス がもう 一度， 「だれを 搜すのか． 」と 問われると， 彼らは「ナザレ 人 イエス を． 」と 言った．
- イエス は 答えられた． 「それはわたしだと， あなたがたに 言ったでしょう． もしわたしを 搜しているのなら， この 人たちはこのままで 去らせなさい． 」
- それは， 「あなたがわたしに 下さった 者のうち， ただのひとりをも 失いませんでした． 」と イエス が 言われたことばが 實現するためであった．
- シモン · ペテロ は， 劍を 持っていたが， それを 拔き， 大祭司のしもべを 擊ち， 右の 耳を 切り 落とした． そのしもべの 名は マルコス であった．

- Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
- Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,
- And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
- Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
- And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

- そこで， イエス は ペテロ に 言われた． 「劍をさやに 收めなさい． 父がわたしに 下さった 杯を， どうして 飮まずにいられよう． 」
- そこで， 一隊の 兵士と 千人隊長， それに ユダヤ 人から 送られた 役人たちは， イエス を 捕えて 縛り，
- まず アンナス のところに 連れて 行った． 彼がその 年の 大祭司 カヤパ のしゅうとだったからである．
- カヤパ は， ひとりの 人が 民に 代わって 死ぬことが 得策である， と ユダヤ 人に 助言した 人である．
- シモン · ペテロ ともうひとりの 弟子は， イエス について 行った． この 弟子は 大祭司の 知り 合いで， イエス といっしょに 大祭司の 中庭にはいった．

- But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
- Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
- And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
- The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
- Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

- しかし， ペテロ は 外で 門のところに 立っていた． それで， 大祭司の 知り 合いである， もうひとりの 弟子が 出て 來て， 門番の 女に 話して， ペテロ を 連れてはいった．
- すると， 門番のはしためが ペテロ に， 「あなたもあの 人の 弟子ではないでしょうね． 」と 言った． ペテロ は， 「そんな 者ではない． 」と 言った．
- 寒かったので， しもべたちや 役人たちは， 炭火をおこし， そこに 立って 暖まっていた． ペテロ も 彼らといっしょに， 立って 暖まっていた．
- そこで， 大祭司は イエス に， 弟子たちのこと， また， 敎えのことについて 尋問した．
- イエス は 彼に 答えられた． 「わたしは 世に 向かって 公然と 話しました． わたしは ユダヤ 人がみな 集まって 來る 會堂や 宮で， いつも 敎えたのです． 隱れて 話したことは 何もありません．

- Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.
- And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
- Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
- Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.
- And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

- なぜ， あなたはわたしに 尋ねるのですか． わたしが 人¿に 何を 話したかは， わたしから 聞いた 人たちに 尋ねなさい． 彼らならわたしが 話した 事がらを 知っています． 」
- イエス がこう 言われたとき， そばに 立っていた 役人のひとりが， 「大祭司にそのような 答え 方をするのか． 」と 言って， 平手で イエス を 打った．
- イエス は 彼に 答えられた． 「もしわたしの 言ったことが 惡いなら， その 惡い 證據を 示しなさい． しかし， もし 正しいなら， なぜ， わたしを 打つのか． 」
- アンナス は イエス を， 縛ったままで 大祭司 カヤパ のところに 送った．
- 一方， シモン · ペテロ は 立って， 暖まっていた． すると， 人¿は 彼に 言った． 「あなたもあの 人の 弟子ではないでしょうね． 」 ペテロ は 否定して， 「そんな 者ではない． 」と 言った．

- One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
- Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

- 大祭司のしもべのひとりで， ペテロ に 耳を 切り 落とされた 人の 親類に 當たる 者が 言った． 「私が 見なかったとでもいうのですか． あなたは 園であの 人といっしょにいました． 」
- それで， ペテロ はもう 一度否定した． するとすぐ 鷄が 鳴いた．
