잠언 17:18-17:28

 미련한 자는 뇌물을 받고 온당치 못한 판결을 내리며 의인과 정직한 자를 핍박하여 야웨의 진노의 대상이 되나, 지혜로운 자는 말을 함부로 하지 않는다.
  
 
  1. A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
  2. He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
  3. He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
  4. He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
  5. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
  1. 思慮に 欠けている 者はすぐ 誓約をして， 隣人の 前で 保證人となる．
  2. そむきの 罪を 愛する 者はけんかを 愛する． 自分の 門を 高くする 者は 破滅を 求める．
  3. 心の 曲がった 者は 幸いを 見つけない． 僞りを 口にする 者はわざわいに 陷る．
  4. 愚かな 者を 生む 者には 悲しみがあり， しれ 者の 父には 喜びがない．
  5. 陽氣な 心は 健康を 良くし， 陰氣な 心は 骨を 枯らす．
  1. A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
  2. Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
  3. A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
  4. Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
  5. He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
  1. 惡者は 人のふところからわいろを 受け， さばきの 道を 曲げる．
  2. 悟りのある 者はその 顔を 知惠に 向け， 愚かな 者は 目を 地の 果てに 注ぐ．
  3. 愚かな 子はその 父の 憂い， これを 産んだ 母の 痛みである．
  4. 正しい 人に 罰金を 科し， 高貴な 人をその 正しさのゆえにむち 打つのは， どちらもよくない．
  5. 自分のことばを 控える 者は 知識に 富む 者． 心の 冷靜な 人は 英知のある 者．
  1. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
  1. 愚か 者でも， 默っていれば， 知惠のある 者と 思われ， そのくちびるを 閉じていれば， 悟りのある 者と 思われる．
