- When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
- And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
- Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
- Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
- They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

- イエス はこれらのことを 語り 終えて， 弟子たちと 一緖に ケデロン の 谷の 向こうへ 行かれた． そこには 園があって， イエス は 弟子たちと 一緖にその 中にはいられた．
- イエス を 裏切った ユダ は， その 所をよく 知っていた． イエス と 弟子たちとがたびたびそこで 集まったことがあるからである．
- さて ユダ は， 一隊の 兵卒と 祭司長や パリサイ 人たちの 送った 下役どもを 引き 連れ， たいまつやあかりや 武器を 持って， そこへやってきた．
- しかし イエス は， 自分の 身に 起ろうとすることをことごとく 承知しておられ， 進み 出て 彼らに 言われた， 「だれを 搜しているのか 」．
- 彼らは「ナザレ の イエス を 」と 答えた． イエス は 彼らに 言われた， 「わたしが， それである 」． イエス を 裏切った ユダ も， 彼らと 一緖に 立っていた．

- As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
- Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
- Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
- That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
- Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

- イエス が 彼らに「わたしが， それである 」と 言われたとき， 彼らはうしろに 引きさがって 地に 倒れた．
- そこでまた 彼らに， 「だれを 搜しているのか 」とお 尋ねになると， 彼らは「ナザレ の イエス を 」と 言った．
- イエス は 答えられた， 「わたしがそれであると， 言ったではないか． わたしを 搜しているのなら， この 人たちを 去らせてもらいたい 」．
- それは， 「あなたが 與えて 下さった 人たちの 中のひとりも， わたしは 失わなかった 」と イエス の 言われた 言葉が， 成就するためである．
- シモン · ペテロ は 劍を 持っていたが， それを 拔いて， 大祭司の 僕に 切りかかり， その 右の 耳を 切り 落した． その 僕の 名は マルコス であった．

- Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
- Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,
- And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
- Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
- And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

- すると， イエス は ペテロ に 言われた， 「劍をさやに 納めなさい． 父がわたしに 下さった 杯は， 飮むべきではないか 」．
- それから 一隊の 兵卒やその 千卒長や ユダヤ 人の 下役どもが， イエス を 捕え， 縛りあげて，
- まず アンナス のところに 引き 連れて 行った． 彼はその 年の 大祭司 カヤパ のしゅうとであった．
- カヤパ は 前に， ひとりの 人が 民のために 死ぬのはよいことだと， ユダヤ 人に 助言した 者であった．
- シモン · ペテロ ともうひとりの 弟子とが， イエス について 行った． この 弟子は 大祭司の 知り 合いであったので， イエス と 一緖に 大祭司の 中庭にはいった．

- But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
- Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
- And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
- The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
- Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

- しかし， ペテロ は 外で 戶口に 立っていた． すると 大祭司の 知り 合いであるその 弟子が， 外に 出て 行って 門番の 女に 話し， ペテロ を 內に 入れてやった．
- すると， この 門番の 女が ペテロ に 言った， 「あなたも， あの 人の 弟子のひとりではありませんか 」． ペテロ は「いや， そうではない 」と 答えた．
- 僕や 下役どもは， 寒い 時であったので， 炭火をおこし， そこに 立ってあたっていた． ペテロ もまた 彼らに 交じり， 立ってあたっていた．
- 大祭司は イエス に， 弟子たちのことや イエス の 敎のことを 尋ねた．
- イエス は 答えられた， 「わたしはこの 世に 對して 公然と 語ってきた． すべての ユダヤ 人が 集まる 會堂や 宮で， いつも 敎えていた． 何事も 隱れて 語ったことはない．

- Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said.
- And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?
- Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?
- Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.
- And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not.

- なぜ， わたしに 尋ねるのか． わたしが 彼らに 語ったことは， それを 聞いた 人¿に 尋ねるがよい． わたしの 言ったことは， 彼らが 知っているのだから 」．
- イエス がこう 言われると， そこに 立っていた 下役のひとりが， 「大祭司にむかって， そのような 答をするのか 」と 言って， 平手で イエス を 打った．
- イエス は 答えられた， 「もしわたしが 何か 惡いことを 言ったのなら， その 惡い 理由を 言いなさい． しかし， 正しいことを 言ったのなら， なぜわたしを 打つのか 」．
- それから アンナス は， イエス を 縛ったまま 大祭司 カヤパ のところへ 送った．
- シモン · ペテロ は， 立って 火にあたっていた． すると 人¿が 彼に 言った， 「あなたも， あの 人の 弟子のひとりではないか 」． 彼はそれをうち 消して， 「いや， そうではない 」と 言った．

- One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
- Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

- 大祭司の 僕のひとりで， ペテロ に 耳を 切りおとされた 人の 親族の 者が 言った， 「あなたが 園であの 人と 一緖にいるのを， わたしは 見たではないか 」．
- ペテロ はまたそれを 打ち 消した． するとすぐに， 鷄が 鳴いた．
