- And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.
- And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
- And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
- And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
- And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

- さて， わたしたちが， 舟で イタリヤ に 行くことが 決まった 時， パウロ とそのほか 數人の 囚人とは， 近衛隊の 百卒長 ユリアス に 託された．
- そしてわたしたちは， アジヤ 沿岸の 各所に 寄港することになっている アドラミテオ の 舟に 乘り ¿んで， 出帆した． テサロニケ の マケドニヤ 人 アリスタルコ も 同行した．
- 次の 日， シドン に 入港したが， ユリアス は， パウロ を 親切に 取り 扱い， 友人をおとずれてかんたいを 受けることを， 許した．
- それからわたしたちは， ここから 船出したが， 逆風にあったので， クプロ の 島かげを 航行し，
- キリキヤ と パンフリヤ の 沖を 過ぎて， ルキヤ の ミラ に 入港した．

- And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.
- And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;
- And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.
- Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
- And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

- そこに， イタリヤ 行きの アレキサンドリヤ の 舟があったので， 百卒長は， わたしたちをその 舟に 乘り ¿ませた．
- 幾日ものあいだ， 舟の 進みがおそくて， わたしたちは， かろうじて クニド の 沖合にきたが， 風がわたしたちの 行く 手をはばむので， サルモネ の 沖， クレテ の 島かげを 航行し，
- その 岸に 沿って 進み， かろうじて「良き 港 」と 呼ばれる 所に 着いた． その 近くに ラサヤ の 町があった．
- 長い 時が 經過し， 斷食期も 過ぎてしまい， すでに 航海が 危險な 季節になったので， パウロ は 人¿に 警告して 言った，
- 「皆さん， わたしの 見るところでは， この 航海では， 積荷や 船體ばかりでなく， われわれの 生命にも， 危害と 大きな 損失が 及ぶであろう 」．

- Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.
- And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.
- And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.
- But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
- And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

- しかし 百卒長は， パウロ の 意見よりも， 船長や 船主の 方を 信賴した．
- なお， この 港は 冬を 過ごすのに 適しないので， 大多數の 者は， ここから 出て， できればなんとかして， 南西と 北西とに 面している クレテ の ピニクス 港に 行って， そこで 冬を 過ごしたいと 主張した．
- 時に， 南風が 靜かに 吹いてきたので， 彼らは， この 時とばかりにいかりを 上げて， クレテ の 岸に 沿って 航行した．
- すると 間もなく， ユ ― ラクロン と 呼ばれる 暴風が， 島から 吹きおろしてきた．
- そのために， 舟が 流されて 風に 逆らうことができないので， わたしたちは 吹き 流されるままに 任せた．

- And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
- Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
- And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
- And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
- And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

- それから， クラウダ という 小島の 陰に， はいり ¿んだので， わたしたちは， やっとのことで 小舟を 處置することができ，
- それを 舟に 引き 上げてから， 綱で 船體を 卷きつけた． また， スルテス の 洲に 乘り 上げるのを 恐れ， 帆をおろして 流れるままにした．
- わたしたちは， 暴風にひどく 惱まされつづけたので， 次の 日に， 人¿は 積荷を 捨てはじめ，
- 三日目には， 船具までも， てずから 投げすてた．
- 幾日ものあいだ， 太陽も 星も 見えず， 暴風は 激しく 吹きすさぶので， わたしたちの 助かる 最後の 望みもなくなった．

- But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
- And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.
- For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
- Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
- Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

- みんなの 者は， 長いあいだ 食事もしないでいたが， その 時， パウロ が 彼らの 中に 立って 言った， 「皆さん， あなたがたが， わたしの 忠告を 聞きいれて， クレテ から 出なかったら， このような 危害や 損失を 被らなくてすんだはずであった．
- だが， この 際， お 勸めする． 元氣を 出しなさい． 舟が 失われるだけで， あなたがたの 中で 生命を 失うものは， ひとりもいないであろう．
- 昨夜， わたしが 仕え， また 拜んでいる 神からの 御使が， わたしのそばに 立って 言った，
- 『パウロ よ， 恐れるな． あなたは 必ず カイザル の 前に 立たなければならない． たしかに 神は， あなたと 同船の 者を， ことごとくあなたに 賜わっている 』．
- だから， 皆さん， 元氣を 出しなさい． 万事はわたしに 告げられたとおりに 成って 行くと， わたしは， 神かけて 信じている．

- Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.
|
- われわれは， どこかの 島に 打ちあげられるに 相違ない 」．
