- And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
- And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
- And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
- And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
- And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

- さて， サウロ はなおも 主の 弟子たちを 脅迫し， 殺そうと 意氣¿んで， 大祭司のところへ 行き，
- ダマスコ の 諸會堂あての 手紙を 求めた． それは， この 道に 從う 者を 見つけ 出したら， 男女を 問わず 縛り 上げ， エルサレム に 連行するためであった．
- ところが， サウロ が 旅をして ダマスコ に 近づいたとき， 突然， 天からの 光が 彼の 周りを 照らした．
- サウロ は 地に 倒れ， 「サウル ， サウル ， なぜ， わたしを 迫害するのか 」と 呼びかける 聲を 聞いた．
- 「主よ， あなたはどなたですか 」と 言うと， 答えがあった． 「わたしは， あなたが 迫害している イエス である．

- And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
- And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
- And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
- And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
- And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

- 起きて 町に 入れ． そうすれば， あなたのなすべきことが 知らされる． 」
- 同行していた 人たちは， 聲は 聞こえても， だれの 姿も 見えないので， ものも 言えず 立っていた．
- サウロ は 地面から 起き 上がって， 目を 開けたが， 何も 見えなかった． 人¿は 彼の 手を 引いて ダマスコ に 連れて 行った．
- サウロ は 三日間， 目が 見えず， 食べも 飮みもしなかった．
- ところで， ダマスコ に アナニア という 弟子がいた． 幻の 中で 主が， 「アナニア 」と 呼びかけると， アナニア は， 「主よ， ここにおります 」と 言った．

- And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
- And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.
- Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
- And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
- But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

- すると， 主は 言われた． 「立って， 『直線通り 』と 呼ばれる 通りへ 行き， ユダ の 家にいる サウロ という 名の， タルソス 出身の 者を 訪ねよ． 今， 彼は 祈っている．
- アナニア という 人が 入って 來て 自分の 上に 手を 置き， 元どおり 目が 見えるようにしてくれるのを， 幻で 見たのだ． 」
- しかし， アナニア は 答えた． 「主よ， わたしは， その 人が エルサレム で， あなたの 聖なる 者たちに 對してどんな 惡事を ¿いたか， 大勢の 人から 聞きました．
- ここでも， 御名を 呼び 求める 人をすべて 捕らえるため， 祭司長たちから 權限を 受けています． 」
- すると， 主は 言われた． 「行け． あの 者は， 異邦人や 王たち， また イスラエル の 子らにわたしの 名を 傳えるために， わたしが 選んだ 器である．

- For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
- And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
- And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
- And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.
- And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

- わたしの 名のためにどんなに 苦しまなくてはならないかを， わたしは 彼に 示そう． 」
- そこで， アナニア は 出かけて 行って ユダ の 家に 入り， サウロ の 上に 手を 置いて 言った． 「兄弟 サウル ， あなたがここへ 來る 途中に 現れてくださった 主 イエス は， あなたが 元どおり 目が 見えるようになり， また， 聖靈で 滿たされるようにと， わたしをお 遣わしになったのです． 」
- すると， たちまち 目からうろこのようなものが 落ち， サウロ は 元どおり 見えるようになった． そこで， 身を 起こして 洗禮を 受け，
- 食事をして 元氣を 取り 戾した． サウロ は 數日の 間， ダマスコ の 弟子たちと 一緖にいて，
- すぐあちこちの 會堂で， 「この 人こそ 神の 子である 」と， イエス のことを 宣べ 傳えた．

- But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
- But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.
- And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:
- But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.
- Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

- これを 聞いた 人¿は 皆， 非常に 驚いて 言った． 「あれは， エルサレム でこの 名を 呼び 求める 者たちを 滅ぼしていた 男ではないか． また， ここへやって 來たのも， 彼らを 縛り 上げ， 祭司長たちのところへ 連行するためではなかったか． 」
- しかし， サウロ はますます 力を 得て， イエス が メシア であることを 論證し， ダマスコ に 住んでいる ユダヤ 人をうろたえさせた．
- かなりの 日數がたって， ユダヤ 人は サウロ を 殺そうとたくらんだが，
- この 陰謀は サウロ の 知るところとなった． しかし， ユダヤ 人は 彼を 殺そうと， ¿も 夜も 町の 門で 見張っていた．
- そこで， サウロ の 弟子たちは， 夜の 間に 彼を 連れ 出し， ζ に 乘せて 町の 城壁づたいにつり 降ろした．

- And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.
- But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
- And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
- And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.
- Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

- サウロ は エルサレム に 着き， 弟子の 仲間に 加わろうとしたが， 皆は 彼を 弟子だとは 信じないで 恐れた．
- しかし バルナバ は， サウロ を 連れて 使徒たちのところへ 案內し， サウロ が 旅の 途中で 主に 出會い， 主に 語りかけられ， ダマスコ で イエス の 名によって 大膽に 宣敎した 次第を 說明した．
- それで， サウロ は エルサレム で 使徒たちと 自由に 行き 來し， 主の 名によって 恐れずに 敎えるようになった．
- また， ギリシア 語を 話す ユダヤ 人と 語り， 議論もしたが， 彼らは サウロ を 殺そうとねらっていた．
- それを 知った 兄弟たちは， サウロ を 連れて カイサリア に 下り， そこから タルソス へ 出發させた．

- Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

- こうして， 敎會は ユダヤ ， ガリラヤ ， サマリア の 全地方で 平和を 保ち， 主を 畏れ， 聖靈の 慰めを 受け， 基礎が 固まって 發展し， 信者の 數が 增えていった．
