- But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
- Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
- Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
- For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
- But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

- しかし， 兄弟たち， あなたがたは 暗闇の 中にいるのではありません． ですから， 主の 日が， 盜人のように 突然あなたがたを 襲うことはないのです．
- あなたがたはすべて 光の 子， ¿の 子だからです． わたしたちは， 夜にも 暗闇にも 屬していません．
- 從って， ほかの 人¿のように 眠っていないで， 目を 覺まし， 身を 愼んでいましょう．
- 眠る 者は 夜眠り， 酒に 醉う 者は 夜醉います．
- しかし， わたしたちは ¿に 屬していますから， 信仰と 愛を 胸當てとして 着け， 救いの 希望を 兜としてかぶり， 身を 愼んでいましょう．

- For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
- Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
- Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
- And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
- And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

- 神は， わたしたちを 怒りに 定められたのではなく， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト による 救いにあずからせるように 定められたのです．
- 主は， わたしたちのために 死なれましたが， それは， わたしたちが， 目覺めていても 眠っていても， 主と 共に 生きるようになるためです．
- ですから， あなたがたは， 現にそうしているように， 勵まし 合い， お 互いの 向上に 心がけなさい．
- 兄弟たち， あなたがたにお 願いします． あなたがたの 間で 勞苦し， 主に 結ばれた 者として 導き 戒めている 人¿を 重んじ，
- また， そのように ¿いてくれるのですから， 愛をもって 心から 尊敬しなさい． 互いに 平和に 過ごしなさい．

- Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
- See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
- Rejoice evermore.
- Pray without ceasing.
- In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

- 兄弟たち， あなたがたに 勸めます． 怠けている 者たちを 戒めなさい． 氣落ちしている 者たちを 勵ましなさい． 弱い 者たちを 助けなさい． すべての 人に 對して 忍耐强く 接しなさい．
- だれも， 惡をもって 惡に 報いることのないように 氣をつけなさい． お 互いの 間でも， すべての 人に 對しても， いつも 善を 行うよう 努めなさい．
- いつも 喜んでいなさい．
- 絶えず 祈りなさい．
- どんなことにも 感謝しなさい． これこそ， キリスト · イエス において， 神があなたがたに 望んでおられることです．

- Quench not the Spirit.
- Despise not prophesyings.
- Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
- Abstain from all appearance of evil.
- And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- “靈 ＂の 火を 消してはいけません．
- 預言を 輕んじてはいけません．
- すべてを 吟味して， 良いものを 大事にしなさい．
- あらゆる 惡いものから 遠ざかりなさい．
- どうか， 平和の 神御自身が， あなたがたを 全く 聖なる 者としてくださいますように． また， あなたがたの 靈も 魂も 體も 何一つ 欠けたところのないものとして 守り， わたしたちの 主 イエス · キリスト の 來られるとき， 非のうちどころのないものとしてくださいますように．
