	예레미야 39:1-41:18 예루살렘이 함락되고 시드기야 왕과 백성들은 바벨론으로 잡혀 갔다. 그러나 예레미야를 구해 주었던 아벳멜렉은 이 와중에 하나님의 구원을 약속받았다. 포로에서 풀려 난 예레미야와 유다 땅에 남아 있던 빈민들은 바벨론 왕이 세운 총독 그다랴와 함께 거했다. 왕족인 이스마엘이 그다랴와 백성 칠십 인을 죽이고 암몬 족속에게 가자, 요하난 일행은 바벨론의 보복을 두려워하여 애굽으로 가려고 했다.

	예루살렘 함락(39:1-39:18)

In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, came Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his army against Jerusalem, and they besieged it.

And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergalsharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon.

And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

유다의 시드기야 왕의 제구년 열째 달에 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕과 그의 모든 군대가 와서 예루살렘을 에워싸고 치더니

시드기야의 제십일년 넷째 달 아홉째 날에 성이 함락되니라 예루살렘이 함락되매

바벨론의 왕의 모든 고관이 나타나 중문에 앉으니 곧 네르갈사레셀과 삼갈네부와 내시장 살스김이니 네르갈사레셀은 궁중 장관이며 바벨론의 왕의 나머지 고관들도 있더라

유다의 시드기야 왕과 모든 군사가 그들을 보고 도망하되 밤에 왕의 동산 길을 따라 두 담 샛문을 통하여 성읍을 벗어나서 아라바로 갔더니

갈대아인의 군대가 그들을 따라 여리고 평원에서 시드기야에게 미쳐 그를 잡아서 데리고 하맛 땅 립나에 있는 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕에게로 올라가매 왕이 그를 심문하였더라

Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.

Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.

And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and brake down the walls of Jerusalem.

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, which had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

바벨론의 왕이 립나에서 시드기야의 눈 앞에서 그의 아들들을 죽였고 왕이 또 유다의 모든 귀족을 죽였으며

왕이 또 시드기야의 눈을 빼게 하고 바벨론으로 옮기려고 사슬로 결박하였더라

갈대아인들이 왕궁과 백성의 집을 불사르며 예루살렘 성벽을 헐었고

사령관 느부사라단이 성중에 남아 있는 백성과 자기에게 항복한 자와 그 외의 남은 백성을 잡아 바벨론으로 옮겼으며

사령관 느부사라단이 아무 소유가 없는 빈민을 유다 땅에 남겨 두고 그 날에 포도원과 밭을 그들에게 주었더라

Now Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah to Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, saying,

Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.

So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard sent, and Nebushasban, Rabsaris, and Nergalsharezer, Rabmag, and all the king of Babylon's princes;

Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕이 예레미야에 대하여 사령관 느부사라단에게 명령하여 이르되

그를 데려다가 선대하고 해하지 말며 그가 네게 말하는 대로 행하라

이에 사령관 느부사라단과 내시장 느부사스반과 궁중 장관 네르갈사레셀과 바벨론 왕의 모든 장관이

사람을 보내어 예레미야를 감옥 뜰에서 데리고 사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게 넘겨서 그를 집으로 데려가게 하매 그가 백성 가운데에 사니라

예레미야가 감옥 뜰에 갇혔을 때에 여호와의 말씀이 그에게 임하니라 이르시되

Go and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid.

For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the LORD.

너는 가서 구스인 에벳멜렉에게 말하기를 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님의 말씀에 내가 이 성에 재난을 내리고 복을 내리지 아니하리라 한 나의 말이 그 날에 네 눈 앞에 이루리라

여호와의 말씀이니라 내가 그 날에 너를 구원하리니 네가 그 두려워하는 사람들의 손에 넘겨지지 아니하리라

내가 반드시 너를 구원할 것인즉 네가 칼에 죽지 아니하고 네가 노략물 같이 네 목숨을 얻을 것이니 이는 네가 나를 믿었음이라 여호와의 말씀이니라 하시더라

	자유의 몸이 된 예레미야(40:1-40:6)

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.

Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.

사령관 느부사라단이 예루살렘과 유다의 포로를 바벨론으로 옮기는 중에 예레미야도 잡혀 사슬로 결박되어 가다가 라마에서 풀려난 후에 말씀이 여호와께로부터 예레미야에게 임하니라

사령관이 예레미야를 불러다가 이르되 네 하나님 여호와께서 이 곳에 이 재난을 선포하시더니

여호와께서 그가 말씀하신 대로 행하셨으니 이는 너희가 여호와께 범죄하고 그의 목소리에 순종하지 아니하였으므로 이제 이루어졌도다 이 일이 너희에게 임한 것이니라

보라 내가 오늘 네 손의 사슬을 풀어 너를 풀어 주노니 만일 네가 나와 함께 바벨론으로 가는 것을 좋게 여기거든 가자 내가 너를 선대하리라 만일 나와 함께 바벨론으로 가는 것을 좋지 않게 여기거든 그만 두라 보라 온 땅이 네 앞에 있나니 네가 좋게 여기는 대로 옳게 여기는 곳으로 갈지니라 하니라

예레미야가 아직 돌이키기 전에 그가 다시 이르되 너는 바벨론의 왕이 유다 성읍들을 맡도록 세운 사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게로 돌아가서 그와 함께 백성 가운데 살거나 네가 옳게 여기는 곳으로 가거나 할지니라 하고 그 사령관이 그에게 양식과 선물을 주어 보내매

Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

예레미야가 미스바로 가서 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게로 나아가서 그 땅에 남아 있는 백성 가운데서 그와 함께 사니라

	살해당한 그다랴 총독(40:7-41:18)

Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;

들에 있는 모든 지휘관과 그 부하들이 바벨론의 왕이 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게 그 땅을 맡기고 남녀와 유아와 바벨론으로 잡혀가지 아니한 빈민을 그에게 위임하였다 함을 듣고

그들 곧 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘과 가레아의 두 아들 요하난과 요나단과 단후멧의 아들 스라야와 느도바 사람 에배의 아들들과 마아가 사람의 아들 여사냐와 그들의 사람들이 미스바로 가서 그다랴에게 이르니

사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그다랴가 그들과 그들의 사람들에게 맹세하며 이르되 너희는 갈대아 사람을 섬기기를 두려워하지 말고 이 땅에 살면서 바벨론의 왕을 섬기라 그리하면 너희에게 유익하리라

보라 나는 미스바에 살면서 우리에게로 오는 갈대아 사람을 섬기리니 너희는 포도주와 여름 과일과 기름을 모아 그릇에 저장하고 너희가 얻은 성읍들에 살라 하니라

모압과 암몬 자손 중과 에돔과 모든 지방에 있는 유다 사람도 바벨론의 왕이 유다에 사람을 남겨 둔 것과 사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그다랴를 그들을 위하여 세웠다 함을 듣고

Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.

Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,

And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

그 모든 유다 사람이 쫓겨났던 각처에서 돌아와 유다 땅 미스바에 사는 그다랴에게 이르러 포도주와 여름 과일을 심히 많이 모으니라

가레아의 아들 요하난과 들에 있던 모든 군 지휘관들이 미스바에 사는 그다랴에게 이르러

그에게 이르되 암몬 자손의 왕 바알리스가 네 생명을 빼앗으려 하여 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘을 보낸 줄 네가 아느냐 하되 아히감의 아들 그다랴가 믿지 아니한지라

가레아의 아들 요하난이 미스바에서 그다랴에게 비밀히 말하여 이르되 청하노니 내가 가서 사람이 모르게 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘을 죽이게 하라 어찌하여 그가 네 생명을 빼앗게 하여 네게 모인 모든 유다 사람을 흩어지게 하며 유다의 남은 자로 멸망을 당하게 하랴 하니라

그러나 아히감의 아들 그다랴가 가레아의 아들 요하난에게 이르되 네가 이 일을 행하지 말 것이니라 네가 이스마엘에 대하여 한 말은 진정이 아니니라 하니라

Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.

Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, even with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, and the men of war.

And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

That there came certain from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the LORD.

일곱째 달에 왕의 종친 엘리사마의 손자요 느다냐의 아들로서 왕의 장관인 이스마엘이 열 사람과 함께 미스바로 가서 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게 이르러 미스바에서 함께 떡을 먹다가

느다냐의 아들 이스마엘과 그와 함께 있던 열 사람이 일어나서 바벨론의 왕의 그 땅을 위임했던 사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그다랴를 칼로 쳐죽였고

이스마엘이 또 미스바에서 그다랴와 함께 있던 모든 유다 사람과 거기에 있는 갈대아 군사를 죽였더라

그가 그다랴를 죽인 지 이틀이 되었어도 이를 아는 사람이 없었더라

그 때에 사람 팔십 명이 자기들의 수염을 깎고 옷을 찢고 몸에 상처를 내고 손에 소제물과 유향을 가지고 세겜과 실로와 사마리아로부터 와서 여호와의 성전으로 나아가려 한지라

And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.

But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, was it which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.

Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.

느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 그들을 영접하러 미스바에서 나와 울면서 가다가 그들을 만나 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게로 가자 하더라

그들이 성읍 중앙에 이를 때에 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 자기와 함께 있던 사람들과 더불어 그들을 죽여 구덩이 가운데에 던지니라

그 중의 열 사람은 이스마엘에게 이르기를 우리가 밀과 보리와 기름과 꿀을 밭에 감추었으니 우리를 죽이지 말라 하니 그가 그치고 그들을 그의 형제와 마찬가지로 죽이지 아니하였더라

이스마엘이 그다랴에게 속한 사람들을 죽이고 그 시체를 던진 구덩이는 아사 왕이 이스라엘의 바아사 왕을 두려워하여 팠던 것이라 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 그가 쳐죽인 사람들의 시체를 거기에 채우고

미스바에 남아 있는 왕의 딸들과 모든 백성 곧 사령관 느부사라단이 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게 위임하였던 바 미스바에 남아 있는 모든 백성을 이스마엘이 사로잡되 곧 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 그들을 사로잡고 암몬 자손에게로 가려고 떠나니라

But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.

Now it came to pass, that when all the people which were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, then they were glad.

So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.

But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.

가레아의 아들 요하난과 그와 함께 있는 모든 군 지휘관이 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 행한 모든 악을 듣고

모든 사람을 데리고 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘과 싸우러 가다가 기브온 큰 물 가에서 그를 만나매

이스마엘과 함께 있던 모든 백성이 가레아의 아들 요하난과 그와 함께 있던 모든 군 지휘관을 보고 기뻐한지라

이에 미스바에서 이스마엘이 사로잡은 그 모든 백성이 돌이켜 가레아의 아들 요하난에게로 돌아가니

느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 여덟 사람과 함께 요하난을 피하여 암몬 자손에게로 가니라

Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, even mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:

And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt,

Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.

가레아의 아들 요하난과 그와 함께 있던 모든 군 지휘관이 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 아히감의 아들 그다랴를 죽이고 미스바에서 잡아간 모든 남은 백성 곧 군사와 여자와 유아와 내시를 기브온에서 빼앗아 가지고 돌아와서

애굽으로 가려고 떠나 베들레헴 근처에 있는 게롯김함에 머물렀으니

이는 느다냐의 아들 이스마엘이 바벨론의 왕이 그 땅을 위임한 아히감의 아들 그다랴를 죽였으므로 그들이 갈대아 사람을 두려워함이었더라
