- And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
- And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
- Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
- I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
- As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

- また イエス は 道の 途中で， 生まれつきの 盲人を 見られた．
- 弟子たちは 彼について イエス に 質問して 言った． 「先生． 彼が 盲目に 生まれついたのは， だれが 罪を 犯したからですか． この 人ですか． その 兩親ですか． 」
- イエス は 答えられた． 「この 人が 罪を 犯したのでもなく， 兩親でもありません． 神のわざがこの 人に 現われるためです．
- わたしたちは， わたしを 遣わした 方のわざを， ¿の 間に 行なわなければなりません． だれも ¿くことのできない 夜が 來ます．
- わたしが 世にいる 間， わたしは 世の 光です． 」

- When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
- And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
- The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
- Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
- Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

- イエス は， こう 言ってから， 地面につばきをして， そのつばきで 泥を 作られた． そしてその 泥を 盲人の 目に 塗って 言われた．
- 「行って， シロアム （譯して 言えば， 遣わされた 者 ）の 池で 洗いなさい． 」そこで， 彼は 行って， 洗った． すると， 見えるようになって， 歸って 行った．
- 近所の 人たちや， 前に 彼がこじきをしていたのを 見ていた 人たちが 言った． 「これはすわって 物ごいをしていた 人ではないか． 」
- ほかの 人は， 「これはその 人だ． 」と 言い， またほかの 人は， 「そうではない． ただその 人に 似ているだけだ． 」と 言った． 當人は， 「私がその 人です． 」と 言った．
- そこで， 彼らは 言った． 「それでは， あなたの 目はどのようにしてあいたのですか． 」

- He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
- Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
- They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
- And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
- Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

- 彼は 答えた． 「イエス という 方が， 泥を 作って， 私の 目に 塗り， 『シロアム の 池に 行って 洗いなさい． 』と 私に 言われました． それで， 行って 洗うと， 見えるようになりました． 」
- また 彼らは 彼に 言った． 「その 人はどこにいるのですか． 」彼は「私は 知りません． 」と 言った．
- 彼らは， 前に 盲目であったその 人を， パリサイ 人たちのところに 連れて 行った．
- ところで， イエス が 泥を 作って 彼の 目をあけられたのは， 安息日であった．
- こういうわけでもう 一度， パリサイ 人も 彼に， どのようにして 見えるようになったかを 尋ねた． 彼は 言った． 「あの 方が 私の 目に 泥を 塗ってくださって， 私が 洗いました． 私はいま 見えるのです． 」

- Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
- They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
- But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
- And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
- His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

- すると， パリサイ 人の 中のある 人¿が， 「その 人は 神から 出たのではない． 安息日を 守らないからだ． 」と 言った． しかし， ほかの 者は 言った． 「罪人である 者に， どうしてこのようなしるしを 行なうことができよう． 」そして， 彼らの 間に， 分裂が 起こった．
- そこで 彼らはもう 一度， 盲人に 言った． 「あの 人が 目をあけてくれたことで， あの 人を 何だと 思っているのか． 」彼は 言った． 「あの 方は 預言者です． 」
- しかし ユダヤ 人たちは， 目が 見えるようになったこの 人について， 彼が 盲目であったが 見えるようになったということを 信ぜず， ついにその 兩親を 呼び 出して，
- 尋ねて 言った． 「この 人はあなたがたの 息子で， 生まれつき 盲目だったとあなたがたが 言っている 人ですか． それでは， どうしていま 見えるのですか． 」
- そこで 兩親は 答えた． 「私たちは， これが 私たちの 息子で， 生まれつき 盲目だったことを 知っています．

- But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
- These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
- Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
- Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
- He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

- しかし， どのようにしていま 見えるのかは 知りません． また， だれがあれの 目をあけたのか 知りません． あれに 聞いてください． あれはもうおとなです． 自分のことは 自分で 話すでしょう．
- 彼の 兩親がこう 言ったのは， ユダヤ 人たちを 恐れたからであった． すでに ユダヤ 人たちは， イエス を キリスト であると 告白する 者があれば， その 者を 會堂から 追放すると 決めていたからである．
- そのために 彼の 兩親は， 「あれはもうおとなです． あれに 聞いてください． 」と 言ったのである．
- そこで 彼らは， 盲目であった 人をもう 一度呼び 出して 言った． 「神に 榮光を 歸しなさい． 私たちはあの 人が 罪人であることを 知っているのだ． 」
- 彼は 答えた． 「あの 方が 罪人かどうか， 私は 知りません． ただ 一つのことだけ 知っています． 私は 盲目であったのに， 今は 見えるということです． 」

- Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
- He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
- Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
- We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
- The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

- そこで 彼らは 言った． 「あの 人はおまえに 何をしたのか． どのようにしてその 目をあけたのか． 」
- 彼は 答えた． 「もうお 話ししたのですが， あなたがたは 聞いてくれませんでした． なぜもう 一度聞こうとするのです． あなたがたも， あの 方の 弟子になりたいのですか． 」
- 彼らは 彼をののしって 言った． 「おまえもあの 者の 弟子だ． しかし 私たちは モ ― セ の 弟子だ．
- 私たちは， 神が モ ― セ にお 話しになったことは 知っている． しかし， あの 者については， どこから 來たのか 知らないのだ． 」
- 彼は 答えて 言った． 「これは， 驚きました． あなたがたは， あの 方がどこから 來られたのか， ご 存じないと 言う． しかし， あの 方は 私の 目をおあけになったのです．

- Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
- Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
- If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
- They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
- Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

- 神は， 罪人の 言うことはお 聞きになりません． しかし， だれでも 神を 敬い， そのみこころを 行なうなら， 神はその 人の 言うことを 聞いてくださると， 私たちは 知っています．
- 盲目に 生まれついた 者の 目をあけた 者があるなどとは， 昔から 聞いたこともありません．
- もしあの 方が 神から 出ておられるのでなかったら， 何もできないはずです． 」
- 彼らは 答えて 言った． 「おまえは 全く 罪の 中に 生まれていながら， 私たちを 敎えるのか． 」そして， 彼を 外に 追い 出した．
- イエス は， 彼らが 彼を 追放したことを 聞き， 彼を 見つけ 出して 言われた． 「あなたは 人の 子を 信じますか． 」

- He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
- And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
- And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
- And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
- And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

- その 人は 答えた． 「主よ． その 方はどなたでしょうか． 私がその 方を 信じることができますように． 」
- イエス は 彼に 言われた． 「あなたはその 方を 見たのです． あなたと 話しているのがそれです． 」
- 彼は 言った． 「主よ． 私は 信じます． 」そして 彼は イエス を 拜した．
- そこで， イエス は 言われた． 「わたしはさばきのためにこの 世に 來ました． それは， 目の 見えない 者が 見えるようになり， 見える 者が 盲目となるためです． 」
- パリサイ 人の 中で イエス とともにいた 人¿が， このことを 聞いて， イエス に 言った． 「私たちも 盲目なのですか． 」

- Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
|
- イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「もしあなたがたが 盲目であったなら， あなたがたに 罪はなかったでしょう． しかし， あなたがたは 今， 『私たちは 目が 見える． 』と 言っています． あなたがたの 罪は 殘るのです． 」
