느헤미야 3:1-4:23

 이스라엘 백성들은 성벽 건축과 중수에 각기 맡은 대로 헌신하였다. 산발랏과 도비야의 세력들은 성벽 건축 방해 음모를 꾸몄다. 그러나 이 사실을 안 느헤미야는 하나님께 기도하였고 백성들에게 성벽 공사를 진행할 때 노역과 파수를 번갈아 가며 참여하도록 하였다.
  
  성벽 건축자들(3:1-3:32)    
 
  1. Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.
  2. And next unto him builded the men of Jericho. And next to them builded Zaccur the son of Imri.
  3. But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
  4. And next unto them repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz. And next unto them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel. And next unto them repaired Zadok the son of Baana.
  5. And next unto them the Tekoites repaired; but their nobles put not their necks to the work of their LORD.
  1. 대제사장 엘리아십이 동료 제사장들과 함께 나서서, '양 문'을 만들어 하나님께 바치고, 문짝을 제자리에 달았으며, '함메아 망대'와 '하나넬 망대'까지 성벽을 쌓아서 봉헌하였다.
  2. 그 다음은 여리고 사람들이 쌓았고, 또 그 다음은 이므리의 아들인 삭굴이 쌓았다.
  3. '물고기 문'은 하스나아의 자손이 세웠다. 문틀을 얹고 문짝을 달고, 빗장과 빗장둔테를 만들어 달았다.
  4. 그 다음은 학고스의 손자요 우리야의 아들인 므레못이 보수하였고, 그 다음은 므세사벨의 손자요 베레갸의 아들인 므술람이 보수하였으며, 그 다음은 바아나의 아들인 사독이 보수하였다.
  5. 그 다음은 드고아 사람이 보수하였는데, 그들 집안의 어떤 유력자들은 공사 책임자들에게 협조하지 않았다.
  1. Moreover the old gate repaired Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, and the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
  2. And next unto them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, unto the throne of the governor on this side the river.
  3. Next unto him repaired Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths. Next unto him also repaired Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem unto the broad wall.
  4. And next unto them repaired Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem.
  5. And next unto them repaired Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, even over against his house. And next unto him repaired Hattush the son of Hashabniah.
  1. '옛 문'은 바세아의 아들인 요야다와 브소드야의 아들인 므술람이 보수하였다. 문틀을 얹고 문짝을 달고, 빗장과 빗장둔테를 만들어 달았다.
  2. 그 다음은 기브온 사람 믈라댜와 메로놋 사람 야돈이 유프라테스 서쪽 지방의 총독 아래에 있는 기브온 사람들과 미스바 사람들을 데리고 보수하였다.
  3. 그 다음은 세공장이 할해야의 아들 웃시엘이 보수하였다. 그 다음은 향품 제조업자 하나냐가 보수하였다. 그들은 '넓은 벽'에 이르기까지 예루살렘을 복구하였다.
  4. 그 다음은 예루살렘의 반쪽 구역의 책임자이며 후르의 아들인 르바야가 보수하였다.

  1. Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahathmoab, repaired the other piece, and the tower of the furnaces.
  2. And next unto him repaired Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.
  3. The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.
  4. But the dung gate repaired Malchiah the son of Rechab, the ruler of part of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
  5. But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of part of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the pool of Siloah by the king's garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.
  1. 하림의 아들인 말기야와 바핫모압의 아들인 핫숩은 '풀무 망대'까지 합쳐서, 둘째 부분을 보수하였다.
  2. 그 다음은 예루살렘의 반쪽 구역의 책임자이며 할로헤스의 아들인 살룸이 자기 딸들과 함께 보수하였다.
  3. '골짜기 문'은 하눈과 사노아에 사는 사람들이 보수하였다. 문틀을 얹고 문짝을 달고, 빗장과 빗장둔테를 만들어 달았다. 그들은 또한 '거름 문'까지 성벽 천 자를 보수하였다.

  1. After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, unto the place over against the sepulchres of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.
  2. After him repaired the Levites, Rehum the son of Bani. Next unto him repaired Hashabiah, the ruler of the half part of Keilah, in his part.
  3. After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.
  4. And next to him repaired Ezer the son of Jeshua, the ruler of Mizpah, another piece over against the going up to the armoury at the turning of the wall.
  5. After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired the other piece, from the turning of the wall unto the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.
  1. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분 곧 다윗의 묘지 맞은쪽에서부터 인공 연못과 '용사의 집'까지는, 벳술 반쪽 구역의 책임자이며 아스북의 아들인 느헤미야가 보수하였다.
  2. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은 레위 사람 바니의 아들 르훔이 보수하였다. 또 그 다음은 그일라의 반쪽 구역의 책임자인 하사뱌가 자기 구역을 맡아서 보수하였다.
  3. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은 그일라의 다른 반쪽 구역의 책임자이며 헤나닷의 아들인 바왜가 친족들과 함께 보수하였다.
  4. 그 옆으로 이어지는 둘째 부분 곧 비탈 맞은쪽에서부터 성 굽이에 있는 무기 창고까지는, 미스바 구역의 책임자이며 예수아의 아들인 에셀이 보수하였다.
  5. 그 다음에 이어지는 둘째 부분 곧 성 굽이에서부터 대제사장 엘리아십의 집 문까지는, 삽배의 아들 바룩이 열심히 보수하였다.
  1. After him repaired Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz another piece, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.
  2. And after him repaired the priests, the men of the plain.
  3. After him repaired Benjamin and Hashub over against their house. After him repaired Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah by his house.
  4. After him repaired Binnui the son of Henadad another piece, from the house of Azariah unto the turning of the wall, even unto the corner.
  5. Palal the son of Uzai, over against the turning of the wall, and the tower which lieth out from the king's high house, that was by the court of the prison. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.
  1. 그 다음에 이어지는 둘째 부분 곧 엘리아십의 집 문에서부터 엘리아십의 집 맨 끝까지는, 학고스의 손자이며 우리야의 아들인 므레못이 보수하였다.
  2. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은 그 구역 안에 사는 제사장들이 보수하였다.
  3. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은 베냐민과 핫숩이 보수하였는데, 그 곳은 그들의 집 맞은쪽이다. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은 아나냐의 손자요 마아세야의 아들인 아사랴가 보수하였는데, 그 곳은 그의 집 옆쪽이다.
  4. 그 다음에 이어지는 둘째 부분 곧 아사랴의 집에서 성 굽이를 지나 성 모퉁이까지는, 헤나닷의 아들인 빈누이가 보수하였다.
  5. 우새의 아들 발랄은, 성 굽이 맞은쪽과 윗대궐에서 쑥 내민 망대 맞은쪽 곧 시위청에서 가까운 부분을 보수하였다. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은, 바로스의 아들인 브다야와
  1. Moreover the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel, unto the place over against the water gate toward the east, and the tower that lieth out.
  2. After them the Tekoites repaired another piece, over against the great tower that lieth out, even unto the wall of Ophel.
  3. From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house.
  4. After them repaired Zadok the son of Immer over against his house. After him repaired also Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate.
  5. After him repaired Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, another piece. After him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechiah over against his chamber.
  1. 오벨에 살고 있는 성전 막일꾼들이, 동쪽 수문 맞은쪽, 쑥 내민 망대가 있는 곳까지 보수하였다.
  2. 그 다음에 이어지는 둘째 부분 곧 쑥 내민 큰 망대에서 오벨 성벽까지는, 드고아 사람들이 보수하였다.
  3. '말 문' 위로는 제사장들이 각각 자기 집 맞은쪽을 보수하였다.
  4. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은, 임멜의 아들인 사독이 보수하였는데, 자기 집 맞은쪽이다. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은, 동문 문지기인 스가냐의 아들인 스마야가 보수하였다.
  5. 그 다음에 이어지는 둘째 부분은, 셀레먀의 아들인 하나냐와 살랍의 여섯째 아들인 하눈이 보수하였다. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분은, 베레갸의 아들인 므술람이 보수하였는데, 그 곳은 자기 방 맞은쪽이다.
  1. After him repaired Malchiah the goldsmith's son unto the place of the Nethinims, and of the merchants, over against the gate Miphkad, and to the going up of the corner.
  2. And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
  1. 그 다음에 이어지는 부분 곧 '점호 문' 맞은쪽, 성전 막일꾼들과 상인들의 숙소가 있는 데까지, 그리고 성 모퉁이 누각까지는, 세공장이 말기야가 보수하였다.
  2. 성 모퉁이 누각에서 '양 문'까지는, 세공장이와 상인들이 보수하였다.
 
  방해 세력(4:1-4:23)    
 
  1. But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.
  2. And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
  3. Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
  4. Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity:
  5. And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.
  1. 우리가 성벽을 다시 쌓아 올리고 있다는 소식을 들은 산발랏은, 몹시 분개하며 화를 내었다. 그는 유다 사람을 비웃으며,
  2. 자기 동료들과 사마리아 군인들이 듣는 데에서 "힘도 없는 유다인들이 도대체 무슨 일을 하는 거냐? 이 성벽을 다시 쌓는다고? 여기에서 제사를 지내겠다는 거냐? 하루 만에 일을 끝낸다는 거냐? 불타 버린 돌을 흙무더기 속에서 다시 꺼내서 쓸 수 있다는 거냐?" 하고 빈정거렸다.
  3. 그의 곁에 서 있는 암몬 사람 도비야도 한 마디 거들었다. "다시 쌓으면 뭘 합니까? 돌로 성벽을 쌓는다지만, 여우 한 마리만 기어올라가도 무너지고 말 겁니다."
  4. "우리의 하나님, 들어주십시오. 우리가 이렇게 업신여김을 받고 있습니다. 제발, 우리에게 퍼붓는 그 욕이 그들에게 되돌아가게 하여 주십시오. 그들이 노략을 당하게 하시고, 남의 나라로 끌려가게 하여 주십시오.
  5. 그들의 죄를 용서하지 마시고, 그들의 죄를 못 본 체하지 마십시오. 그들이야말로 성을 쌓고 있는 우리 앞에서 주님을 모욕한 자들입니다."
  1. So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
  2. But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,
  3. And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.
  4. Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
  5. And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
  1. 우리는 성 쌓는 일을 계속하였다. 백성이 마음을 모아서 열심히 일하였으므로, 성벽 두르기는 마칠 수 있었으나, 높이는 반밖에 쌓지 못하였다.
  2. 그 때에 산발랏과 도비야와 아랍 사람들과 암몬 사람들과 아스돗 사람들은, 예루살렘 성벽 재건이 잘 되어가고 있으며, 군데군데 무너진 벽을 다시 잇기 시작하였다는 소식을 듣고서, 몹시 화를 내면서,
  3. 한꺼번에 예루살렘으로 올라와서 성을 치기로 함께 모의하였다. 우리를 혼란에 빠뜨리려는 것이었다.
  4. 그래서 우리는, 한편으로는 우리의 하나님께 기도를 드리고, 다른 한편으로는 경비병을 세워, 밤낮으로 지키게 하였다.
  5. 그런데 유다 사람들 사이에서 이런 노래가 퍼지고 있었다. 흙더미는 아직도 산더미 같은데, 짊어지고 나르다 힘이 다 빠졌으니, 우리 힘으로는 이 성벽 다 쌓지 못하리.
  1. And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
  2. And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you.
  3. Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
  4. And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
  5. And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
  1. 한편 우리의 원수들은, 쥐도 새도 모르게 쳐들어와서 우리를 죽여서, 일을 못하게 하려고 계획하고 있었다.
  2. 그들 가까이에서 사는 유다 사람들이 우리에게 올라와서, 그들이 사방에서 우리를 치려고 한다고, 열 번이나 일러주었다.
  3. 그래서 나는 백성 가운데서 얼마를 가문별로, 칼과 창과 활로 무장시켜서, 성벽 뒤 낮은 빈터에 배치하였다.
  4. 백성이 두려워하는 것을 보고, 나는 귀족들과 관리들과 그 밖의 백성들을 격려하였다. "그들을 두려워하지 말아라. 위대하고 두려운 주님을 기억하고, 형제자매와 자식과 아내와 가정을 지켜야 하니, 싸워라."
  5. 드디어 우리의 원수들은 자기들의 음모가 우리에게 새나갔다는 것을 알게 되었다. 하나님이 그들의 음모를 헛되게 하셨으므로, 우리는 모두 성벽으로 돌아와서, 저마다 하던 일을 계속하였다.
  1. And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
  2. They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
  3. For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
  4. And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
  5. In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.
  1. 그 날부터 내가 데리고 있는 젊은이 가운데서 반은 일을 하고, 나머지 반은 창과 방패와 활과 갑옷으로 무장을 하였다. 관리들은 성벽을 쌓고 있는 유다 백성 뒤에 진을 쳤다.
  2. 짐을 나르는 이들은, 한 손으로는 짐을 나르고, 다른 한 손으로는 무기를 잡았다.
  3. 성벽을 쌓는 이들은 저마다 허리에 칼을 차고 일을 하였다. 나팔수는 나의 곁에 있게 하였다.
  4. 나는 귀족들과 관리들과 그 밖의 백성에게 지시하였다. "하여야 할 일이 많은데다, 일하는 지역이 넓으므로, 우리는 성벽을 따라서 서로 멀리 떨어져 있다.
  5. 어디에서든지 나팔 소리를 들으면, 그 소리가 나는 곳으로 모여와서, 우리와 합세하여라. 우리 하나님이 우리 편이 되어서 싸워 주신다."
  1. So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.
  2. Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.
  3. So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.
  1. 우리는 이른 새벽부터 밤에 별이 보일 때까지 일을 하였다. 우리 가운데 반수는 창을 들고 일을 하였다.
  2. 이 기간에 나는 또 백성에게 명령하였다. "밤에는 저마다 자기가 데리고 있는 부하들과 함께 예루살렘 성 안으로 들어와 묵으면서 경계를 서고, 낮에는 일을 하여라."
  3. 나도, 나의 형제들도, 내가 데리고 있는 젊은이들도, 나를 따르는 경비병들도, 우리 가운데 어느 누구도 옷을 벗지 않았으며, 물을 길러 갈 때에도 무기를 들고 다녔다.
