	예레미야 5:1-6:30 유다의 선지자와 제사장 그리고 백성들 모두가 하나님의 규례를 어기며 가난한 자와 약한 자를 착취하는 죄를 범하였기 때문에 유다는 하나님의 심판을 피할 수 없었다. 하나님께서는 심판이 바벨론에 의한 전쟁으로 시행될 것이라고 선언하셨다. 임박한 바벨론의 침공을 앞두고 예레미야는 회개를 촉구했으나 백성과 지도자들은 이를 무시하고 듣지 않았다.

	유다 심판 이유(5:1-5:31)

Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.

O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

エルサレムのちまたを行き巡り，さあ，見て知るがよい．その廣場で搜して，だれか公義を行ない，眞實を求める者を見つけたら，わたしはエルサレムを赦そう．

たとい彼らが，「主は生きておられる．」と言っても，實は，彼らは僞って誓っているのだ．

主よ．あなたの目は，眞實に向けられていないのでしょうか．あなたが彼らを打たれたのに，彼らは痛みもしませんでした．彼らを絶ち滅ぼそうとされたのに，彼らは懲らしめを受けようともしませんでした．彼らは顔を岩よりも堅くし，悔い改めようともしませんでした．

そこで，私は思いました．「彼らは，實に卑しい愚か者だ．主の道も，神のさばきも知りもしない．

だから，身分の高い者たちのところへ行って，彼らと語ろう．彼らなら，主の道も，神のさばきも知っているから．」ところが，彼らもみな，くびきを ¿き，なわめを斷ち切っていました．

Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.

Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.

それゆえ，森の獅子が彼らを殺し，荒れた地の狼が彼らを荒らす．ひょうが彼らの町¿をうかがう．町から出る者をみな，引き裂こう．彼らが多くの罪を犯し，その背信がはなはだしかったからだ．

これでは，どうして，わたしがあなたを赦せよう．あなたの子らはわたしを捨て，神でないものによって誓っていた．わたしが彼らを滿ち足らせたときも，彼らは姦通をし，遊女の家で身を傷つけた．

彼らは，肥え太ってさかりのついた馬のように，おのおの隣の妻を慕っていななく．

これらに對して，わたしが罰しないだろうか． ··主の御告げ． ··このような國に，わたしが復讐しないだろうか．

ぶどう畑の石垣に上って滅ぼせ．しかし，ことごとく滅ぼしてはならない．そのつるを除け．それらは主のものではないからだ．

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

イスラエルの家とユダの家とは，大いにわたしを裏切ったからだ． ··主の御告げ． ··

彼らは主を否んでこう言った．「主が何だ．わざわいは私たちを襲わない．劍もききんも，私たちは，見はしない．

預言者たちは風になり，みことばは彼らのうちにない．彼らはこのようになる．」

それゆえ，万軍の神，主は，こう仰せられる．「あなたがたが，このようなことを言ったので，見よ，わたしは，あなたの口にあるわたしのことばを火とし，この民をたきぎとする．火は彼らを燒き盡くす．

イスラエルの家よ．見よ．わたしはあなたがたを攻めに，遠くの地から一つの國民を連れて來る． ··主の御告げ． ··それは古くからある國，昔からある國，そのことばをあなたは知らず，何を話しているのか聞き取れない國．

Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.

And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not your's.

Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

その矢筒は開いた墓のようだ．彼らはみなつわもの．

彼らはあなたの刈り入れたものとあなたのパンを食らい，あなたの息子，娘を食らい，あなたの羊の群れと牛の群れを食らい，あなたのぶどうと，いちじくを食らい，あなたの據り賴む城壁のある町¿を，劍で打ち破る．

しかし，その日にも， ··主の御告げ． ··わたしはあなたがたを，ことごとくは滅ぼさない．」

「あなたがたが，『何のために，私たちの神，主は，これらすべての事を私たちにしたのか．』と尋ねるときは，あなたは彼らにこう言え．『あなたがたが，わたしを捨て，あなたがたの國內で，外國の神¿に仕えたように，あなたがたの國ではない地で，他國人に仕えるようになる．』

ヤコブの家にこう告げ，ユダに言い聞かせよ．

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

さあ，これを聞け．愚かで思慮のない民よ．彼らは，目があっても見えず，耳があっても聞こえない．

あなたがたは，わたしを恐れないのか． ··主の御告げ． ··それとも，わたしの前でおののかないのか．わたしは砂を，海の境とした．越えられない永遠の境界として．波が逆卷いても勝てず，鳴りとどろいても越えられない．

ところが，この民には，かたくなで，逆らう心があり，彼らは，そむいて去って行った．

彼らは心の中でも，こう言わなかった．『さあ，私たちの神，主を恐れよう．主は大雨を，先の雨と後の雨を，季節にしたがって與え，刈り入れのために定められた數週を私たちのために守ってくださる．』と．

あなたがたの咎が，これを追い拂い，あなたがたの罪が，この良い物を拒んだのだ．

For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

それは，わたしの民のうちに，惡者たちがいるからだ．彼らは，待ち伏せして鳥を取る者のように，わなをしかけて人¿を捕える．

鳥でいっぱいの鳥かごのように，彼らの家は欺きでいっぱいだ．だから，彼らは偉い者となって富む．

彼らは，肥えて，つややかになり，惡事に進み，さばきについては，みなしごのためにさばいて幸いを見させず，貧しい者たちの權利を弁護しない．

これらに對して，わたしが罰しないだろうか． ··主の御告げ． ··このような國に，わたしが復讐しないだろうか．

恐怖と，戰慄が，この國のうちにある．

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

預言者は僞りの預言をし，祭司は自分かってに治め，わたしの民はそれを愛している．その末には，あなたがたは，どうするつもりだ．」

O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.

I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

ベニヤミンの子らよ．エルサレムの中からのがれよ．テコアで角笛を吹き，ベテ · ハケレムでのろしを上げよ．わざわいと大いなる破滅が，北から見おろしているからだ．

私は，シオンの娘を，麗しい牧場になぞらえる．

羊飼いは自分の群れを連れて，そこに行き，その回りに天幕を張り，その群れはおのおの，自分の草を食べる．

「シオンに向かって聖戰をふれよ．立て．われわれは眞¿に上ろう．」「ああ，殘念だ．日が傾いた．夕べの影も伸びる．」

「立て．われわれは夜の間に上って，その宮殿を滅ぼそう．」

For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

まことに万軍の主はこう仰せられる．「木を切って，エルサレムに對して壘を築け．これは罰せられる町．その中には，しいたげだけがある．

井戶が水をわき出させるように，エルサレムは自分の惡をわき出させた．暴虐と暴行が，その中で聞こえる．わたしの前には，いつも病と打ち傷がある．

エルサレムよ．戒めを受けよ．さもないと，わたしの心はおまえから離れ，おまえを住む人もない荒れ果てた地とする．」

万軍の主はこう仰せられる．「ぶどうの殘りを摘むように，イスラエルの殘りの者をすっかり摘み取れ．ぶどうを收穫する者のように，あなたの手をもう一度，その枝に伸ばせ．」

私はだれに語りかけ，だれをさとして，聞かせようか．見よ．彼らの耳は閉じたままで，聞くこともできない．見よ．主のことばは，彼らにとって，そしりとなる．彼らはそれを喜ばない．

Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

私の身には主の憤りが滿ち，これに耐えるのに，私は疲れ果てた．「それを，道ばたにいる子どもの上にも，若い男の集まりの上にも，ぶちまけよ．夫も妻も，ともどもに，年寄りも齡の滿ちた者も共に捕えられ，

彼らの家は，畑や妻もろともに，他人のものとなる．それは，わたしがこの國の住民に手を伸ばすからだ． ··主の御告げ． ··

なぜなら，身分の低い者から高い者まで，みな利得をむさぼり，預言者から祭司に至るまで，みな僞りを行なっているからだ．

彼らは，わたしの民の傷を手輕にいやし，平安がないのに，『平安だ，平安だ．』と言っている．

彼らは忌みきらうべきことをして，恥を見ただろうか．彼らは少しも恥じず，恥じることも知らない．だから，彼らは，倒れる者の中に倒れ，わたしが彼らを罰する時に，よろめき倒れる．」と主は仰せられる．

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

主はこう仰せられる．「四つ ¿に立って見渡し，昔からの通り道，幸いの道はどこにあるかを尋ね，それを步んで，あなたがたのいこいを見いだせ．しかし，彼らは『そこを步まない．』と言った．

また，わたしは，あなたがたの上に見張り人をたて，『角笛の音に注意せよ．』と言わせたのに，彼らは『注意しない．』と言った．

それゆえ，諸國の民よ．聞け．會衆よ．知れ．彼らに何が起こるかを．

この國よ．聞け．見よ．わたしはこの民にわざわいをもたらす．これは彼らのたくらみの實．彼らが，わたしのことばに注意せず，わたしの律法を退けたからだ．

Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.

They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

それゆえ，主はこう仰せられる．「見よ．わたしはこの民につまずきを與える．父も子も共にこれにつまずき，隣人も友人も滅びる．」

主はこう仰せられる．「見よ．一つの民が北の地から來る．大きな國が地の果てから奮い立つ．

彼らは弓と投げ槍を堅く握り，殘忍で，あわれみがない．その聲は海のようにとどろく．シオンの娘よ．彼らは馬にまたがり，ひとりのように陣備えをして，あなたを攻める．」

私たちは，そのうわさを聞いて，氣力を失い，産婦のような苦しみと苦痛が私たちを捕えた．

畑に出るな．道を步くな．敵の劍がそこにあり，恐れが回りにあるからだ．

O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.

I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way.

They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.

私の民の娘よ．荒布を身にまとい，灰の中をころび回れ．ひとり子のために苦しみ嘆いて，喪に服せ．たちまち，荒らす者が私たちに襲いかかるからだ．

「わたしはあなたを，わたしの民の中で，ためす者とし，試みる者とした．彼らの行ないを知り，これをためせ．」

彼らはみな，かたくなな反逆者，中傷して步き回り，靑銅や鐵のようだ．彼らはみな，墮落した者たちだ．

ふいごで激しく吹いて，鉛を火で溶かす．鉛は溶けた．溶けたが，むだだった．惡いものは除かれなかった．

彼らは廢物の銀と呼ばれている．主が彼らを退けたからだ．
