잠언 18:20-19:7

 성실하고 마음이 너그러운 자는 지혜가 있으나, 입술이 패려한 자나 야웨를 원망하는 자나 거짓 증언하는 자는 지혜가 없다.
  
 
  1. A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
  2. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
  3. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
  4. The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
  5. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
  1. 입을 잘 놀리면 단 것을 실컷 먹고 입술을 잘못 놀리면 쓴 것을 들이켜게 된다.
  2. 죽고 사는 것이 혀끝에 달렸으니 혀를 잘 놀려야 잘 먹을 수 있다.
  3. 아내를 얻는 것은 행복을 얻는 길, 야훼께서 주시는 선물이다.
  4. 가난하면 굽신거리게 되고 부유하면 대답이 거칠어진다.
  5. 친구를 망치는 사람도 있고 동기보다 가까운 벗도 있다.
 
 
  1. Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
  2. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
  3. The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
  4. Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
  5. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
  1. 더럽게 재산을 모으느니 가난해도 떳떳하게 살아라.
  2. 철없는 열성은 좋지 않다. 발이 빠르면 헛딛는다.
  3. 사람은 제가 어리석어 일을 망치고는 마음으로 야훼를 원망한다.
  4. 부유하면 벗이 많아지지만 옹색하면 있던 벗도 멀어진다.
  5. 거짓 증인은 벌을 면할 수 없고 거짓말하는 자는 빠져 나갈 길이 없다.
  1. Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
  2. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
  1. 지위가 높은 사람에겐 아첨하는 자가 많고 선물 주는 사람에겐 사람마다 친구가 된다.
  2. 가난하면 동기들도 좋아하지 않고 친구들도 멀어진다. 말이 많으면 남에게 해 끼치는 일도 많다. 말 많고 잘되는 법 없다.
