- The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
- Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
- Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
- And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
- Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

- そこで， あなたがたのうちの 長老たちに 勸める． わたしも， 長老のひとりで， キリスト の 苦難についての 證人であり， また， やがて 現れようとする 榮光にあずかる 者である．
- あなたがたにゆだねられている 神の 羊の 群れを 牧しなさい． しいられてするのではなく， 神に 從って 自ら 進んでなし， 恥ずべき 利得のためではなく， 本心から， それをしなさい．
- また， ゆだねられた 者たちの 上に 權力をふるうことをしないで， むしろ， 群れの 模範となるべきである．
- そうすれば， 大牧者が 現れる 時には， しぼむことのない 榮光の 冠を 受けるであろう．
- 同じように， 若い 人たちよ． 長老たちに 從いなさい． また， みな 互に 謙遜を 身につけなさい． 神は 高ぶる 者をしりぞけ， へりくだる 者に 惠みを 賜うからである．

- Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
- Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
- But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

- だから， あなたがたは， 神の 力强い 御手の 下に， 自らを 低くしなさい． 時が 來れば 神はあなたがたを 高くして 下さるであろう．
- 神はあなたがたをかえりみていて 下さるのであるから， 自分の 思いわずらいを， いっさい 神にゆだねるがよい．
- 身を 愼み， 目をさましていなさい． あなたがたの 敵である 惡魔が， ほえたけるししのように， 食いつくすべきものを 求めて 步き 回っている．
- この 惡魔にむかい， 信仰にかたく 立って， 抵抗しなさい． あなたがたのよく 知っているとおり， 全世界にいるあなたがたの 兄弟たちも， 同じような 苦しみの 數¿に 會っているのである．
- あなたがたを キリスト にある 永遠の 榮光に 招き 入れて 下さったあふるる 惠みの 神は， しばらくの 苦しみの 後， あなたがたをいやし， 强め， 力づけ， 不動のものとして 下さるであろう．
