아모스

아모스가 활동할 당시의 북이스라엘은 경제적으로는 번영을 누렸으나 부정과 부패, 우상 숭배가 만연하였다. 이에 아모스는 하나님의 심판의 날을 선포하면서 백성들에게 공의를 행할 것과 하나님께 돌아올 것을 외쳤다.

1장부터 2장까지는 유다를 포함한 이스라엘의 주변 7개 국가를 향한 심판의 메시지를 선포하고 있다. 그리고 3장부터 6장까지는 이스라엘에 임할 하나님의 심판의 불가피성을 밝힌 후, 심판을 피하는 길로 야웨 하나님을 찾고 공의를 행할 것을 외치고 있다. 7장부터 9장까지는 지금까지 예언한 이스라엘 멸망의 모습을 다섯 가지 환상을 통해 확인하면서 남은 자들의 회복과 메시아 왕국에 대한 하나님의 약속을 전하고 있다.

	아모스 1:1-3:15 아모스는 다메섹, 가사, 두로, 에돔, 암몬, 모압의 여섯 이방 나라와 남유다와 북이스라엘을 향해 하나님의 심판을 선포하였다. 이방 나라들은 서너 가지의 죄를 범했을 뿐 아니라 이스라엘을 대적했기에 하나님의 심판을 받게 되었다. 그리고 남유다는 야웨의 율법을 멸시하고 어긴 죄로, 북이스라엘은 사회적 불의와 우상 신전에서 가증한 짓을 행한 죄로 하나님의 심판을 받게 되었다.

	이방 나라의 심판(1:1-2:3)

The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

テコアの牧者のひとりであるアモスの言葉．これはユダの王ウジヤの世，イスラエルの王ヨアシの子ヤラベアムの世，地震の二年前に，彼がイスラエルについて示されたものである．

彼は言った，「主はシオンからほえ，エルサレムから聲を出される．牧者の牧場は嘆き，カルメルの頂は枯れる」．

主はこう言われる，「ダマスコの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼らが鐵のすり板で，ギレアデを踏みにじったからである．

わたしはハザエルの家に火を送り，ベネハダデのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす．

わたしはダマスコの貫の木を ¿き，アベンの谷から住民を斷ち，ベテエデンから王のつえをとる者を斷つ．スリヤの民はキルに捕えられて行く」と／主は言われる．

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

主はこう言われる，「ガザの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼らが人¿をことごとく捕えて行って，エドムに渡したからである．

わたしはガザの石がきに火を送り，そのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす．

わたしはアシドドから住民を斷ち，アシケロンから王のつえをとる者を斷つ．わたしはまた手をかえしてエクロンを擊つ．そして殘ったペリシテびとも滅びる」と／主なる神は言われる．

主はこう言われる，「ツロの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼らが人¿をことごとくエドムに渡し，また兄弟の契約を心に留めなかったからである．

それゆえ，わたしはツロの石がきに火を送り，そのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす」．

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:

But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.

主はこう言われる，「エドムの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼がつるぎをもってその兄弟を追い，全くあわれみの情を斷ち，常に怒って，人をかき裂き，ながくその憤りを保ったからである．

それゆえ，わたしはテマンに火を送り，ボズラのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす」．

主はこう言われる，「アンモンの人¿の三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼らがその國境を廣げるために，ギレアデのはらんでいる女を／ひき裂いたからである．

それゆえ，わたしはラバの石がきに火をはなち，そのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす．これは戰いの日に，ときの聲をもってせられ，つむじ風の日に，暴風をもってせられる．

彼らの王はそのつかさたちと共に／捕えられて行く」と主は言われる．

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

主はこう言われる，「モアブの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼がエドムの王の骨を燒いて／灰にしたからである．

それゆえ，わたしはモアブに火を送り，ケリオテのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす．モアブは ¿ぎと，ときの聲と，ラッパの音の中に死ぬ．

わたしはそのうちから，支配者を斷ち，そのすべてのつかさを彼と共に殺す」と／主は言われる．

	남유다와 북이스라엘의 심판(2:4-3:15)

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

主はこう言われる，「ユダの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼らが主の律法を捨て，その定めを守らず，その先祖たちが從い步いた／僞りの物に惑わされたからである．

それゆえ，わたしはユダに火を送り，エルサレムのもろもろの宮殿を燒き滅ぼす」．

主はこう言われる，「イスラエルの三つのとが，四つのとがのために，わたしはこれを罰してゆるさない．これは彼らが正しい者を金のために賣り，貧しい者をくつ一足のために賣るからである．

彼らは弱い者の頭を地のちりに踏みつけ，苦しむ者の道をまげ，また父子ともにひとりの女のところへ行って，わが聖なる名を汚す．

彼らはすべての祭壇のかたわらに／質に取った衣服を敷いて，その上に伏し，罰金をもって得た酒を，その神の家で飮む．

Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.

さきにわたしはアモリびとを／彼らの前から滅ぼした．これはその高きこと，香柏のごとく，その强きこと，かしの木のようであったが，わたしはその上の實と，下の根とを滅ぼした．

わたしはまた，あなたがたを／エジプトの地から連れ上り，四十年のあいだ荒野で，あなたがたを導き，アモリびとの地を獲させた．

わたしはあなたがたの子らのうちから／預言者を起し，あなたがたの若者のうちからナジルびとを起した．イスラエルの人¿よ，そうではないか」と／主は言われる．

「ところがあなたがたはナジルびとに酒を飮ませ，預言者に命じて『預言するな』と言う．

見よ，わたしは麥束をいっぱい積んだ車が／物を壓するように，あなたがたをその所で壓する．

Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.

And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

速く走る者も逃げ場を失い，强い者もその力をふるうことができず，勇士もその命を救うことができない．

弓をとる者も立つことができず，足早の者も自分を救うことができず，馬に乘る者もその命を救うことができない．

勇士のうちの雄¿しい心の者も／その日には裸で逃げる」と／主は言われる．

Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

イスラエルの人¿よ，主があなたがたに向かって言われたこと，わたしがエジプトの地から導き上った／全家に向かって言ったこの言葉を聞け．

「地のもろもろのやからのうちで，わたしはただ，あなたがただけを知った．それゆえ，わたしはあなたがたの／もろもろの罪のため，あなたがたを罰する．

ふたりの者がもし約束しなかったなら，一緖に步くだろうか．

ししがもし獲物がなかったなら，林の中でほえるだろうか．若いししがもし物をつかまなかったなら，その穴から聲を出すだろうか．

もしわながなかったなら，鳥は地に張った網にかかるだろうか．網にもし何もかからなかったなら，地からとびあがるだろうか．

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

町でラッパが鳴ったなら，民は驚かないだろうか．主がなされるのでなければ，町に災が起るだろうか．

まことに主なる神は／そのしもべである預言者にその隱れた事を／示さないでは，何事をもなされない．

ししがほえる，だれが恐れないでいられよう．主なる神が語られる，だれが預言しないでいられよう」．

アッスリヤにあるもろもろの宮殿，エジプトの地にあるもろもろの宮殿に宣べて言え，「サマリヤの山¿に集まり，そのうちにある大いなる ¿ぎと，その中で行われる暴虐とを見よ」と．

主は言われる，「彼らは正義を行うことを知らず，しえたげ取った物と奪い取った物とを／そのもろもろの宮殿にたくわえている」．

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

それゆえ主なる神はこう言われる，「敵がきて，この國を圍み，あなたの防備をあなたから取り除き，あなたのもろもろの宮殿はかすめられる」．

主はこう言われる，「羊飼がししの口から，羊の兩足，あるいは片耳を取り返すように，サマリヤに住むイスラエルの人¿も，長いすのすみや，寢台の一部を携えて救われるであろう」．

万軍の神，主なる神は言われる，「聞け，そしてヤコブの家に證言せよ．

わたしはイスラエルのもろもろのとがを罰する日に／ベテルの祭壇を罰する．その祭壇の角は折れて，地に落ちる．

わたしはまた冬の家と夏の家とを擊つ，象牙の家は滅び，大いなる家は消えうせる」と／主は言われる．
